It is an open forum. Maybe it is not, but that is what it says in the guidelines.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a long distance trail from St. Louis to Ft. Smith? Well we already have parts of one. There are some folks within the National Park Service who don't have the vision of a John Muir or an Appalacian Trail in the heartland of the country. If interested please respond to this thread. I can email more specifics on what you can do to help. Thanks, Solohiker

It is my opinion that you are missing something. It was a political decision to turn off SA which gave birth to geocaching. If discussing politics is expressly forbidden it should be included in the rules. It is not. Groundspeak Forum Guidelines The goal of the Groundspeak Forum is to promote the activity of Geocaching and GPS Usage. It is an open forum sponsored by Groundspeak Inc. for discussing all aspects of Geocaching, Benchmark hunting, GPS Usage and Groundspeak related GPS Gaming. There are certain guidelines you should be aware of before you post messages to this Discussion Forum. It is important there are some basic guidelines of conduct. Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. If the moderator has a personal agenda and changes the rules, by definition there are no rules.

There is bickering on every message board. It is nature of the beast. People disagree and a forum usually offers an opportunity to argue differences. Name calling and slurs are common. I catch a lot of flack for voicing my opinon, but I also receive support from posters who agree. I find expressing emotion and honesty very refreshing. Not everyone agrees.

If political discussions are not allowed it should be included in the forum guidelines. If political discussions are allowed the moderators should not interject their personal opinions of the value of such threads. Just my opinion, not an attack. I am trying to help.

Gallant posts his experiences in the forums. Goofus sends emails accusing Gallant of flaming.

I vote Republican. It was interesting to see a centrist Democrat enter the Presidential race this week. At least I think he is a centrist. He looks like one on CNN where he works.
-
Keystone, I assume that is your answer to my question. I just received an email warning from Admin about me flaming in the forums. I think it is unfortunate that debate not allowed.

quote:Originally posted by Keystone Approver:It's time for a friendly whisper from the referee in this thread. Solohiker, your comments to Cache Couple were out of line. They have their opinion and you have yours. They were fairly polite in their posting. You can bash the admins a bit but please be polite to the rest of the community. I would refer you to Fizzymagic's post for an example of a respectful argument on the merits of Cache Couple's post, but for one or two sentences that were a bit over the line. Everyone is entitled to an opinion no matter how long they've been a member here. Brian Snat, I'd much rather see you debate Solohiker on the merits than to continue observing that he hikes alone. That joke's been made, it is directed at the person rather than the ideas, and it's getting old. Thanks everyone and please play nicely in the sandbox. -------------------- Signal says, "Drink the Kool-Aid!" Maybe I have sand in my eyes. Which comment did I address to the cache couple that was out of line?
-
Cache Couple, Perhaps if you were less condesending and researched a problem before making assumptions you would understand other people's points of view.
-
Dear Cache Couple, What sucks about the admin here is that if you decide to support the sport you get no support from geocaching.com. Worse than that you can get a negative reaction. The contact link used to basically say 'don't email us'. If you complain in the forums the admin minions attack your character. When a problem arises there is no system to deal with it. A bunch of yahoos with no business experience are running the entire operation. If you do something responsible like making a commitment to a land manager on behalf of the geocaching community you find out that geocaching.com does not support it's own policies. If you get embarrassed and hung out to dry by these amateurs once you will understand the frustration.

Elevator Controllers are like most things. One size fits most. Lots of elevator controllers still use relay ladder logic. Separate inputs for each floor is standard logic. If you want custom logic it costs more.

I remember when geocaching meant getting out into nature. Traffic was not a problem. -

I would just like to see some consitstency with admin's own policies. Now that we have all the freelance assistance, I am sure that will be the result. -

We have seen that you can't use the 'N' word to promote the other web site, but I just created an account over there. They have put together some kind of promotional campaign over there with cashe prizes in the caches along with gps receivers and other goodies. Check it out. I am off to find my first treasure! -
So we have a bunch of inexperienced amateurs running this site? Who woulda guessed?

I believe that is a barking spider. Very common around my house -
If I recall the thread had to do with the commercialization of this site. In my opinion Jeremy has the right to make a buck, but not everyone agrees. Read quickly this thread will be deleted by an Admin brick.
