  1. I have been away from the threads lately. I assume there was a trademark issue? I like the GX logo. Who do I thank for that?
  2. Look at a topo map of the area you are in. The elevation is marked in concentric rings. I assume the Vista is like my Suunto altimeter. I just set the altitude according to my map.
  3. It surprises me that so many cachers think this is a 'Mom and Pop' shop. Buying memberships to support the site? What a bunch of gullible fools. Geocaching.com is big business.
  4. I thought walking through the woods was the whole idea behind geocaching. I bought my gps before geocaching was invented and I still use it to walk in the woods. There are map links to all the caches. If you don't consult a map first it is your fault.
  5. If someone came at you with a giant set of toenail clippers?
  6. The first exchange item placed in my first cache was a used range ball found on the trail.
  7. Two mounties, I think.
  8. I use easy gps to manage my waypoints. I have a master file with all my waypoints and several files with localized waypoints. I upload and download depending on activity. If I am travelling to a new area, I delete all my waypoints in my gps and only load the caches in that particular area.

  10. At least an hour. I have found a couple after a longer search.
  11. I think it is good to set goals. Three hundred posts doesn't sound like a worthwhile goal, but it is a start. Once you have succeeded in quantity your next goal could be for the best content.

  14. You cache with other people?!?
  15. How many posts does that make?
  16. I had to back off one cache I felt was too dangerous. That was only after I had a couple near fatal slips. A wet steep bluff with scree fields was more than I bargtained for. I am convinced I made the wrong approach. I will try again when it cools off some.
  17. I have recorded three non-finds. One was verified missing. One was when the approach was deemed too risky. One was never verified as missing by the cache owner. I sent the cache owner an email and they said they would check the cache. Never heard anything so I sent another email that went unanswered.
  18. 30 inches is a pace according to my Drill Instuctor thirty years ago. I have marched with as many as 1000 men at once and we all moved at the same pace. 30 inches. 30 inches X 40 paces = 100 feet
  19. So who was this masked man? If he didn't sign the logbooks I say expose him/her. Was it Jeremy? I don't even think that dude is real.

  21. This little piggie went to market...

  23. I have to take credit for all the typo's. I cut and pasted the wrong file. The one before I spell checked.
  24. I bought my GPS before geocaching was invented. My Garmin 12 still points me in the right direction.
