  1. I was watching the Travel Channel. Some program about Treasure Hunting (ten best or some such) One of the last ones was about Geocaching. Well my husband saw the gleam in my eyes and for our 3rd anniversary bought me a GPS. I've been hooked ever since.

  2. We got a couple of FRS radios awhile back, haven't used them for caching yet. They came in very useful when we went camping with a bunch of other people and had to off road to get where we were going. We now want to upgrade icon_biggrin.gif!

  3. quote:
I just can't understand why people would want to cheat, they are cheating themselves in a way, who cares how many you have, I love the adventure and the exercise! A patch would be good at every 100th and a party for every 1000th!!

There is a person or persons out my way that every time they go to a cache they log it as a find. There is one cache they've logged 5 times!!!! icon_mad.gif Another, 3 times. They log finds when getting a T.B.from a cache they've already logged.

Admittedly, I am looking forward to my 100th, I was happy about my 50th! icon_biggrin.gif

  4. My father in law has sent us 6 cases of MREs, along with assorted other dehydrated food. Out of curiosity we have eaten a couple. Surprisingly not too bad, but if your watching your calorie count.... icon_eek.gif

P.S. I also think caviar is wonderful

  5. I've had my own brush with Star Trek fame. I once worked for a company that did (and probably still does) the insignia and jewelry for the t.v shows and the movies. So I had the privelidge of working on some rather interesting stuff. and seeing some of the concepts being developed. Like the Ferengi (sp.???) headress, I got to watch Bill Theiss and my bosses figure out how best to fabricate it. We also did stuff for Micheal Jackson icon_redface.gif, General Hosp. LACMA.....

That was probably the best (but not the most lucerative) job I ever had.

Okay enough about my 15 seconds of fame icon_wink.gif

  6. for the support and the kind encouragement (except maybe the cutting it off suggestion...)

Some of you have also made me realize worse things can happen icon_eek.gif

I'm hobbling a bit better now and am going to go after a couple off new 1/1s that have sprung up very recently icon_biggrin.gif Besides there are always pain killers icon_wink.gif

  7. I broke my toe last night (it was really stupid, believe me) icon_frown.gif

So now I don't know what I'm going to do if I can't go geocaching. icon_mad.gif (Got to feed the addiction...)

How long does it take a toe to heal????

I'm so bummed about this I thought I would post it and share my pain icon_wink.gif

  8. and asleep at the moment icon_biggrin.gif. Thanks for asking!

Thanks for the info, I haven't looked yet but I am going to give it a try.

I've camped many times in the middle of what we thought was nowhere and have come across benchmarks. Now I know what to do with them icon_wink.gif.

The more elusive the better! I just love a mystery, hmmm, maybe that's why I love geocaching...

  9. that my cache page is my home page, and my 2 1/2 year old asks first thing in the morning if we can go treasure hunting! icon_eek.gif

Bookcrossing is also a wonderful thing to get into, I've really enjoyed releasing books and meeeting other people through Bookcrossing.

The crossover between the two is getting more prevelent. I will try to combine the 2 with a bookcrossing cache in the future. icon_biggrin.gif

  10. I take my 2 1/2 year old with me all the time. We have done a lot of one star terrain difficulty, but also quite a few 2.5s and a 3!

I've found that most of the caches I've found have been very kid friendly as far as content goes. Start with the easy ones and work your way up. It's a very family oriented pastime!

    Have Fun.
