  1. I was thinking about setting up a couple of caches in an urban area and the tip about testing the area is a good one, if not place them off the beaten track a little i guess. also just noticed this.
  2. According to terms, - https://www.geocaching.com/account/documents/privacypolicy Point B, it's tracked but i don't think they would hand out this info due to data protection of it's user base. What are you planning on doing if you got the users details? It would be hard to prove who removed it even if you knew the people looking at the cache page. Unethical but maybe set on up with a camera close, again not something i would do but you could have it as a sign that says CCTV is being used in this area etc.... at least your telling them they are being filmed. Just hope they don't search for the camera.
  3. I have recently moved from an iphone to a HTC One and i have to say the Geocaching app on the iphone seemed to hold a few additional features than the current android version. I know you said you didn't like apple but the app is much better IMO.
  4. Welcome to the fun good luck on the first find. Remember to find a Geocache you must first think like a geocache.
  5. Thanks for your response, not sure why i was having so much hassle, the mobile app was correct and didn't know i could use google maps as i originally couldn't get it to work. Just been to find it and it turns out i had the wrong answer to the equation anyway.. maybe tomorrow
  6. Hi, I am just starting some multicache's and puzle caches and i am stuck with the finding out where the final cache is after getting the coords. It works if i enter them on the ipad app but every other website i have tried to use to locate the place brings somewhere random up. Does anyone have a great guide and some links to a brilliant gps locator? I've been using http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html but i can't seem to get it to work correctly. Edit* I have now deleted the coords as advised below. Any help would be great
  7. Can someone let me know where the option is on the iPhone app? Want to make sure it doesn't visit every cache
  8. Well we have only been caching since the new year and still building our equipment but so far, FaK, phone/GPS, bags, Pens, pencils, Swiss knife, para cord key rings, survival bracelet, Cig's great anti muggle equipment I have a list and a half of stuff I need though.
  9. i have posted a few things since joining the craze last week but here's another one for you helpul cachers. i have a couple of friends listed and i wanted to view there finds on the map. so i go to: My Profile>View Your friends>select friend>Geocache Tab>All Geocache finds> then click Map this location across the top gray bar. This seems the correct way to do it but it shows my finds not theirs. any ideas?
  10. Thanks all, case closed. *on here i can't seem to close the thread but, i got the cache today so we are all done, thanks again.
  11. that's the best part, is even when you do something incorrect and very newbish, you still get a sensible answer stating the rules and why it exists. I have the cords with a little help from G3m's dad who's a mini brainbox.
  12. i didn't think it would a problem as the cache doesn't give you the answer just the puzzle but that's all good, i'm still learning.
  13. Hi All, I am trying to find the location of a cache and do not fully understand GPS cordinated and wondered if i could get some help. The one i am trying to find is [cache identity removed by moderator]. It's the triangle part i am confused on. I have the angle at A using COS which to 3 decimal places but how do i get this number to be a Northing number? the angle i have can make up the n's in the following ss nn.nnn but not sure how to get the SS numbers. Confusing this maybe but i am trying to get help without giving anything away.
  14. That's the only way I could think of doing it. Seems strange for them not to include the bookmarks or a saved list on the app but that's one of the selling points of premium I guess
  15. another quick question, we are going out this weekend and i have found 8 or so that we can aim to get. When i find them on the website map whats the easiest way to send/save them to my Iphone app?
  16. Thanks again, we are planning to go out this weekend and I will make a few lanyard key ring or braclets to pop in the cache as these are great simple repair tools
  17. Well i was thinking about this just the other day, as we smoke it makes life a little easier as you can always just light up and stand about. I wouldn't say this is a good reason to start but if you sneak about to much you look more odd and people start to notice more.
  18. Thanks for the post, I have to be honest I was expecting the same not looking for crystal glasses but something other than Xmas cracker toys. I think post boxes start with good stuff but it gradually gets diluted over time. Lets see how things go
  19. Just noticed the round icon backgrounds doh!
  20. Thanks for the swift reply, that helps me out quite a bit and I will take some time to read through some of your links. With regards to the premium locations, I am looking on the map on this site, its a shame there is not a different icon for premium locations without having to click each one or am I missing something
  21. Hi All, I am new to Geocaching and just started today. As it's free i decided to sign up to premium as it's very cheap and i have already had 4 hours of fun with it. Anyway now for the qestions: - If i look at the map on the website how can i tell which ones are Premium finds or does it just display the premium ones with the public ones? - I use the app on my iphone, i am guessing their is some way of saving a list of caches on the pc and then they display on my saved list on my phone? - Can i log my find on the move? today we had to write all the codes down and then do them on the PC. - Why do people create premium caches? do they contain better things etc... that's it for now, sorry for the questions it's just i have to know everything about something when it's new.
