  1. How do you get the numbering scheme so that you don't replicate someone elses numbers?
  2. Another idea for Travel Bugs is to have the ability to say 'Found it in Cache XXXXX' This would allow the bug to be tracked from the location, and get the miles, while still grabbing it from the person. There is another post about people grabbing the coins, and being on vacation. It would be nice if we didn't have to worry about trying to log the TB as soon as possible if you are trying to relax on vacation.
  3. Some people apparently will 'grab' the bugs and then log them in and then out of the cache that they got them from. This gets them the miles, even though it dosn't show that you dropped it off.
  4. Looks like the browser connection took a dump on my first attempt to post this thread. Can a Moderator please just remove the other posting with the same name. Thanks.
  5. I didn't see a way to post or email someone with suggestions about the website so I figured I would make a post here and see what happens. With the number of Travel Bugs/Geocoins that go missing from Caches I was thinking that it would be nice to be able to flag them as Removed from a cache. Maybe do like an archived cache and put a line through it. This would let the owner of the bug know that it has moved from the cache. It may not be MISSING per say, but it is not in the cache. There is two recent occasions where I see that this would be usefull. 1) I went to DragonRider cache, and it shows that there is about 10 trackable items, and there was only 1 in there. One of the main reasons we went to this cache is to cycle our TBs that we had with others. If someone was able to mark the others as removed, then we might have tried to get to this one at another time. 2) The Troutdale Travelbug Rest Stop had a Tavelbug that we thought would be fun to move on its way across the river where it wanted to get. This would allow us to hit a few caches while helping someone else in the process. Once we got there, we found that the TB was gone and apparently did get moved across the river closer to its home, but was taken from this cache a while back. I think that a function like this could act as a help, and also as a note when the TB actually left the cache. An owner could then see that it has been awol for a bit rather then assuming that the bug is still sitting in a 5-star cache (like one that I found) and it would be nice to know that it was still not hidden in there.
  6. Sounds like a lot of these people need to go do Virtual Caches, rather then actual ones. Then you can log it as a find, just for being there. I am still very new to Geocaching, and I think that posting that I DNF, even if I belive I was in the right location, helps both me and the owner. Since they can either help me find it the next time, or check on the cache to see if it is actually missing.
  7. Hehe. Well, overall I know exactly what you mean, and I kinda figured that there weren't any major secrets or anything that I would find. I think that I just found that I like to have a book that I can read when I am out and about. I work on computers all day long, if I can get some good info from a book on a subject I am interested in, I am all for it. There is also the fact that sometimes weeding out the answers from a book is a lot easier then searching for it in a forum. The tangents that people can get off on is HUGE sometimes.
  8. I have seen that there are a mix of books out there about Geocaching (from Dummies to Idiots) as well as some other types of books. Can anyone give some references of books they have used or found to be helpfull?
  9. I am looking for the Geocaching logo image. I wanted to make a background image, and maybe print out some stickers and stuff for myself. Can anyone tell me where to download a decent image? On the main site all there is for wallpapers is the frog...
