  1. I can almost feel your pain. The three most over used terms in today's English speaking world are "um", "you know", and "I mean". Listen to the media. These terms were used in the past, but have now become a major part of the common vocabulary. When I hear the big "three" in a sentence or some other verbal rambling I say, "Hat trick!". My wife is getting irritated at this. Can you, um, you know, I mean, blame her? Before I get charged extra for being off topic, my take on muggle. I only see it used here, and know how it's used....no problem. In some circles, gentile was becoming fashionable to mean anyone who is not us. The true meaning is anyone not a Jew. I prefer muggle.
  2. I hope that means "fish" or "flame war" in Swedish.

Thanks for the link, Cap'n, here's what I got: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: You do not have permission to view this topic Useful Links · Forgotten Password Recovery · Register a new account · Our help documentation · Contact the forums administrator As you can see, this is all in English.
  5. So, have you gotten the hang of it yet? Actually, your postings seem to have slowed a bit lately, and I thought you might enjoy reading some of this "old" stuff.
  6. Wasn't he the guy who got the most votes in the last election?
  7. What's a phone booth? It does sound like a good place for cell phone users to keep their conversations private. I wonder if the idea has been patented?
  8. If you would like to continue this thread please do so in the Off Topic forum. Recently, the above sentence has been used by one or more mods. This has almost always been directed towards someone with "geocacher" under their avatar. That, my friend, is sarcasm.

I will try to clear up any misunderstandings about my post. The "off topic" caught my attention and caused a devilish idea to pop up in my head. Divine should surely know that feeling. It had nothing to do with the topic of this thread. GC.com has recently created an "off topic" forum. It can only be seen or used by premium or paying members. You can usually determine that, because just below their avatar something other than 'geocacher' appears. Example: neither I nor Divine are premium members. A premium member has the option of using any description in that area, within reason. They may even put 'geocacher' there. Clicking on their user name, and going to their profile will tell if they are a member or premium member. My devilish idea had to do with this new "off topic" forum. If a premium member went there and started a thread in a language other than English, what would the GC.com powers do about it? I doubt that they have thought about that possible problem. As for some of the questions brought up here concerning language, it's been discussed here before. I'm all for people having a place to discuss things in their native language. The nuances are better expressed, and that's why I would never attempt this in Spanish.

    Are Polls Fair?

And definitely not the same as "you go-go girls".
  11. I find it hard to believe that tree hugger or environmental would be on that list of choices.

This caught my attention. A new "off topic" forum has been started. Only "premium" members are allowd to use it. I am wondering what would happen if someone opened a thread there in a language other than English? Would any of you be willing to try this and report back here on the consequences? Jupilli, I think you express your opinions very well in English. My second language is Spanish, and I wouldn't attempt to convey that degree of difficulty in Spanish.

    Are Polls Fair?

Is this an example of what I'm missing in the "elite" OT Forum?
  14. "It's 150 miles to Chicago, we've got a half pack of cigarrettes, a half tank of gas, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." "Hit it."
  15. Well, let's hope it wasn't set....food is not allowed in caches!!
  16. That's great....what is the meaning of is?
  17. Before we start our IPO, would you like 1000 "free" shares? Oops!!.....that really backfired.
  18. RK, you were almost starting to scare me. These Freudian typos are getting too obvious. Did he mean "taboo topics" or "topics to boo"? Seeing as how the 'a' and 'o' are not close on the keyboard, I think you know exactly what you're doing.
  19. And of course that would be by the Minister of Offal Water.
  20. This is a perfect Freudian typo. In the U.K. forum, where most of these congrat posts occur, "tat" is slang for junk found in a cache. This is their way, and I wouldn't worry about it. You can be sure that we post things that have them scratching their heads.
  21. The midwest forum would be the place to go for your area. There is a thread about off roading in the Geocaching.com Web Site forum. I bumped it up so you can take a look. There are are photos and posts there that might be of interest to you. They want their own forum, but don't seem to be putting in the effert to keep the thread alive. I suggested that they put the thread in the Belgium forum. So far, no one has the knobbies to pull it off...hint...hint.
  22. Also, I don't think I've seen "rude", "inappropriate", "unacceptable", and "unsuitable for children or families". If "puerile" shows its ugly face, we just might have some serious issues here.
  23. Yes, it is obvious. All these answers are a crock, but you're in luck. Entropy is the filling of a canopy. The opposite of this is to empty the canopy. The word for that is emptropy. How this pertains to a cache depends on if the canopy is the type you stand under, or stand over.
  24. Is that some kind of finnish party trick? I heard that they're in there so that Swedes can practice "safe trolling".
