  1. ill have to think of something else i dont want to risk damage to my fist cache thanks all for the info
  2. Im sure i could but the cache saturation law is in effect
  3. Yall dont think a industrial shipping ziploc wont hold up it is 8mil thick and now has a layer of camo duct on it? i am diggin the LNL on the inside idea, as for placement I am looking for a new spot the spot I wanted is 26 feet to close to another cache. And my local reviewer wont allow it , no issues rules are rules would been cool outside our local library though.
  4. Cool idea, but a ziploc bag won't be enough protection for a geocache of any duration. Even if you soak the book with silicone spray, there will be no protection for the logbook inside. I think a better solution would be to hide the book someplace with more protection like in a shelter house where it can at least be somewhat protected from the elements or put it inside a better sealed container like a lok'n'lok or ammo can. if they made a LNL big enough (15x10x4)for this i would use one but i havent found one yet plus i was planning on using a smaller ziploc bag for the log and contents and an ammo can big enough for this i think would be rather pricey
  5. I haven't used it yet but I am waiting to use it "I dropped a contact and I am looking for it please don't come any closer you might step on it"
  6. i want to start hiding caches and came up with a question when filling out the online cache hide form what is meant by the cache summary (summarize the geocaching experience) ????
  7. my plan was to hide it outside a library which i had already gotten permission from the library director but it is 26 feet to close to the next cache so somewhere else it will go
  8. here is our fist custom cache container i still need to soak it with silicone spray and it will all be hidden inside a camo'ed 2 gallon ziploc bag it is big enough for a pocket note book log and some swag hopping to place it soon
  9. here ya go my first custom cache container i still need to soak it with silicone spray and it will all be hidden inside a camo'ed 2 gallon ziploc bag
  10. Oh yes you will! Upload all your photos to your Gallery here at Geocaching.com, then link to them. You may upload to your profile photo or to an unactivated cache page (or an activated one), or to a TB. Can't find a place to upload? Feel free to make a Note Log on any of my TBs and upload to there. There's an extra step, to get the picture to actually show up here (you need its web address), so once you've uploaded it, let me know if you need more info. ill try and futz with it for a few minutes tonight see what happens

  18. ALR - Additional Logging Requirement There used to be cases where hiders would place a cache, sometimes with props inside, and wold require the finder to do something before they could log a find online. For instance, there may be a set of bunny ears in the cache and you have to put on the bunny ears, take a picture of yourself with the ears on, and post that picture with your find log. If you did not, the CO would delete your log. ALR caches were declared an official no-no some time ago but challenge caches were exempted from the ALR no-no. thanks for the info
  19. The geocaching profile and the geocaching dashboard are two different things. Profiles allow you to configure the settings of the GPS for different activities, so you can easily switch between different configurations. You can customize each one to your heart's content. Both the "Geocaching" and "Recreational" profiles sound like they're configured by default to use the geocaching dashboard. The geocaching dashboard is one of the options within a profile. If you go into the settings, I believe the option is under the Display section (it may actually be under "Heading" for the compass view and "Map" for the map view; I can't quite remember off the top of my head). There will be an option to have the dashboard, one large field, four small fields, and possibly another option. If you set it to one of the "field" options and then go to the respective screen (ie. from the main menu, go to "Compass"), you can tap on the field(s) to be given a list of available parameters for that field. As I mentioned earlier, I've set mine to have "Distance to next" and "Accuracy of GPS" as well as a couple of others. What I use is the map view, so I can see an overview of trails, roads, etc., and use the "Pointer" field to give me a little arrow that points in the direction of the cache/waypoint. I only use the compass screen if I need determine a compass bearing to/from something. ahhh yes the dash board i forgot about those that is what it sounds like nice catch A-TEAM
