I'm on IE here at work (therefore no GM) and still get the rubbish old mapping. Don't think they changed anything there (sadly)
-
Further to that, Can't see caches Hidden Do see the Tracables and The Gallery Same issue for me here in the UK!
-
Seems great so far! Also note the 'My Friends' at the top of your account page! Shames theres no explaination of what it is and how to use it. Will have to experiment.

I realise that I have only read the OPs amended post but I fail to see how several people are taking this out of all proportion. I read a well intended, polite, slightly amusing request for holiday makers to carefully consider whether the cache they wish to place before they leave is a good idea. The point was quite clear that pretending to have someone local to maintain the cache is not good for the cache, or caching in general and that unless you have a varified local cacher to maintain then you are very likely to have the cache archived. Therefore to avoid geolitter don't leave it there in the first place. Shame people always have to get on their high-horse and assume everything is a dig/negative!
-
Dang, just as I find my 200th too! Never mind! Sounds like you've done a sterling job with it!
-
Not true. I've only got one PM cache near me and there are at least 3 or 4 other caches well within the mile radius!
-
I agree! It'd also mean that your won cache logs appear in the correct order. Not however it it sorted at the moment!
-
You should count yourselves lucky, I often don't get anything.

I've got the Legend and not noticed any strange variations when out and about. 'Home' is Basingstoke in Hampshire and i've cached quite widely including the Lake District and never thought 'this seems way out'. I agree with Chris above that the pre-installed mapping is rather vague and the supplied Mapsource data is far better!

Congratulations to Bambography
Bambography replied to The Cache Hoppers's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I can highly recommend the cache. Very enjoyable! Thanks for making it memorable. Had I realised that you were publishing 2 very near by last night, i'd have got a couple of FTF on my 1st anniversary too..., but never mind! -
Nothing to wait for, unless I wait a week to log any more caches I will never be able to get the stats I had wanted!
-
I've just found my 200th cache and wanted a My Finds Query of this to take a look through the stats etc before I log any further caches. However, having logged my 200th and waiting a short amount of time, the My Finds query does not include these latest finds! Now as I cannot run this query for another week I will not be able to get the query I had hoped for, which is frankly quite annoying!! Why does this query not contain all my finds? I assume I am too quick after logging, however it would have been nice to have some kind of warning so this wouldn't have happened!
-
This is a good idea! If it was a check button "Run this weekly" you wouldn't have to get it if you didn't want it.

The features in the columns you are referring to are in fact premium member features (I'm almost 100% confindent in saying this ). The columns are there but they won't contain the small symbols (shown at the foot of the page) until you pay a whopping $3 per month Just one of the features that are worth paying the money for!

The future of geocaching
Bambography replied to The Birches Head Hunters's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Another tick in the 'Word of Mouth' box for me! I've introduced 3 people and although 2 are regular cachers the 3rd only has 1 find. I share the fear that if geocaching gets advertised and we have an influx of people into the sport/hobby/... then they won't relly understand the ethos and etiquette with the potential to spoil caches. The more people finding caches the more likely they are to get muggled too, especially urban caches. -
Until reading this i'd never thought of taking someone elses sig item, be it card, token etc, from a cache. I enjoy looking through all the sigs left in a cache and have been burning my own wooden tokens as my own item recently. I'd like them to stay in caches for others to see, however as Skadhi says they are on their own once I replace the cache. If someone chooses to take it then I guess that is some kind of compliment. As a swap item though.... no. Although I value the coins as I have invested time and money to make them I would not place vaule on them to ensure the 'Trade Up' ethos. If people take them and leave a swap in its place then they have placed thier own value on the coin so thats fair enough.

You are probably getting bored of me asking, however I need to keep asking this. A reminder to all those people who have said they will place a cache as part of BIG Quest... we still need many email addresses. If you have not already done so, Please, please do one of the following: a) visit http://www.bambography.co.uk/bigquest/form.php to update your email address. Use the form at the top-right (the little one) to add your address. If your name is on the list we need your address. PM me using the link under my name over <-- there with the address you wish me to add to the database. Thanks. PS. This is still in work with various parts of the project taking time to organise. More news asap. PPS This isn't a bump! ( really!!)

You know you're addicted to Geocaching when...
Bambography replied to Eclectic Penguin's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
... when your favourite photo of you and your partner features a geocache on the ground between you. -
I'm in Basingstoke, so if anyone is after help, advice or company then let me know.

Quality or quantity, that is the question.
Bambography replied to 2202's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Having just posted in the lost caches thread, this seems like a timely thread. I think it is going to become a delicate balance between the quality and quantity. In Basingstoke, we seem to have quite a high concentration (mainly micros) and it has been great to have plenty to pick one every now and then, in fact theres still several i've not done. Although there is one place i'd think to place a micro in town, I don't think we want many more there, otherwise it would be just too much. There are over 300 in quite a small radius so again quite dense. However there are plenty of places that i've identified on my OS sheet where decent traditional caches could be placed without stepping on the toes of any previsouly placed caches. So yes, some town centres could easily end up saturated (Basingstoke centre is almost there) however with a quick look there are huge areas of the county for us to explore and place the quality caches we crave. -
Although i've not placed any to be muggled as yet, its sad to know that people will willingly destroy items that other people obviously enjoy. That said, with the huge numbers of caches out there (and more being placed all the time, in this record breaking month) i'm sure that there will be some correlation between the numbers out there and the numbers getting muggled. Sadly this isn't going to be of any comfort to anyone whose cache gets destroyed, and hope it doesn't stop people placing! I'm sure it won't, and it certainly won't stop my plans!!!

Well Done to the Reviewers!! A great milestone for them as well as the people placeing caches!

Looking pretty hopeful at the moment! Might wizz out and place a cache in this momentus month!

14 stage multi... How would you like to do it?
Bambography replied to GeoCornetto's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
The (recently blown-up) cache in Peterborough was a multi and had many questions (over 10) before finding the final cache. This was not a problem as all locations were suitable for questions but not for physical caches. It bothers me slightly when people add stages of a multi in locations that could have held a traditional cache (due to the 'minimum distance' rule). Does this matter if you are visiting the site anyway? Possibly not - but I do prefer to find a cache than answer questions for the sake of it. -
Could we have a user-friendly addition to Pocket Query page?
Bambography replied to Miragee's topic in Website
I think it'd be great to see an add to queue button on each query. It could have similar behaviour to the My Finds query in that i can only be run once a day. If it is due to run later that day TPTB would have to look at whether allowing us to use the button, therefore cancelling the scheduled run (allowing you to get the PQ immeadiatly if you are about to go out), otherwise they would have to have it grey-out if it is due to run that day (taking into account the various time-zones that people are living in).
