The size indicator has been a graphic for ages. There is a problem with the graphic on the cache pages though, they always seem to show "unkown" (the question mark), but the graphic that shows on the list of caches that comes up after a "nearest caches....." type of query is correct (micro, small, regular, large, unknown). There are so many bugs in this new release it's a real shame. It appears that no testing at all has been done before releasing it. The graphic was always there however it also stated in plain text how big it was 'This is a small cache' etc.

I think this problem has been mentioned on the main Geocaching Website forums. There are New Site Bug threads running there.

I've had a quick read through but not read everything in depth. However my impression is this. Geocachers would, in general, like to see Virtuals returned to the Geocaching site, Reviewers don't want them back. The difficulty I see here is that the Reviewers do a cracking job at the moment but if virtuals were to return, would this damage (or even stop) this good work? I myself would love Virtuals to return. The cache guidelines state that physical caches much not pose security threats or be placed near potential terrorist targets. This prevents physical caches being placed in front of some truely amazing locations such as Big Ben & the Houses of Parliament in London. A virtual here would have a valid place in geocaching. The overall problem revolves around what and how good a virtual should be. A McDonalds is not a place of interest, Big Ben is. I agree that the subjective descision would have to sit with someone and it looks to me like the cache reviewers do not want to be those people.

Just had a look at yet more tiny changes or tweeks to the cache pages. My current bugs (as I see them) are as follows: Size: Nice to have the little graphic, however its not very clear. Many Micros are showing as Small cache. In my opinion the line 'A micro cache by ...' or 'An event cache by ...' was great! Description: The strange and very redundant line stating 'So-and-sos description' is still there. Map: Didn't work in Firefox last night, although I can't say if it has been fixed as i'm now using a Greasemonkey script to change it into something useful.

I can echo the above comment. Watch count showing up again and the page looking much better!

While I'm at it. I really like the added log counts just above the logs on the cache page. However i'm slightly bemused that ALL types of log are included. My main thought is 'do I really nned to know that it has been published 1 time???' or that there have been 1 review note? If there are occasions that people find them useful then so be it, however right now I can't think of any.

Just looked at the latest version of the cache page and noticed the line "Cassie's Crusaders's Description:" before the description. Not only is this line redundant as its quite obvious that the text below is telling you about the cache, but when (as in the case of my recent adoption) it says " (Becca&Edd) Adopted by Bambography's Description:" it looks and sounds stupid! I could change my 'by' line in the cache setup however I was leaving the placers name in by way of acknowledgment of their placment. Better off without it I think. Also, MUCH better having the details in the one box (if its going to be in a box). Means that all the alignment and most of the whitespace has now gone!

No changes were made to the PDF pages. Did you see it there before? -Raine I still show the GC# on the PDF's (though the formatting is all messed up - 3 pages overlap on GCGV0P), but I don't show the GC# on the Printer-Friendly version (which I've never used before - so I don't know what it looked like before) I'm seeing the GC# in massive red text on the PDF however if I follow the Make this page Printer Friendly (No Logs) link it is not included in the page, this maybe where the problem is! Generally i'm not keen on the new boxes. To be more exact on the amount of whitespace im now seeing. theres at least one line above the cache name, followed by another after the cache by line. Then if there are no attributes then the download box moves across the page to the right (or somewhere in the middle. Then if there are loads of attributes or TBs in the cache, the rest of the page gets bumped down until this list has finished creating loads of space. I think the tables need to be fixed to allow things like the 'Please Note' box and cache description can sit next to the right hand TB boxes. Also to echo another thread, i'm missing the watchlist numbers and the quick glance Size indication.

UK-Wide Multi-cache - Important Update
Bambography replied to OldGimmer's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I have been and indeed am still building a website for this project, and am certainly interested in carrying this project forward! Those that are interested in helping, please let me know. I can't see that I have the time to devote to the overall setup of the project as the site is enough for me right now, but anyone willing to arrange permissions with Groundspeak and setup Guidelines and rules would be much appreciated! -
This is certainly an issue for me, however I believe it is a known issue that is being investigated. Mine are now bigger and only showing 2 per line, not 3 as before.

I love most of the new features! The list of log types. The thumbnails. But, the definiton of cache type I find to be redundant. I've submitted my log. By then, I should know the log type, and defintion. I find this feature to be rather annoying, and taking up too much space. I vote to archive this feature. It's actually meant for new users and non logged in users. I'll have it turned off for those who are logged in. Although I think its great that there is a clear description of the cache type, if it is for non-logged in users/visitors would it not be much more useful on the actual cache page. When I first came looking I certainly wasn't reading logs to find out what the cache was. Since we won't see it when logged in why not put it somewhere clearly on cache page where it can be found.

New type of watch list - watch trackables withing X miles from coordinates
Bambography replied to laxxe's topic in Website
I believe it is THIS PAGE that is being referred to. This shows the coins around your home coords. To get there from the GC.com homepage, follow the 'Trackable Items' link on the right-hand menu. Then in the first column 'Geocoins' select "Geocoin Home" and bingo! -
Yup, can confirm this one!
-
I believe it is automatic. When a friend accepted my invite, I appeared in his list straight away. This way you can always tell who has you listed as you will also have them in your list.
-
I liked the thumbs too however didn't like the possibility of seeing a spoiler against my will. I hope that they come back with a new tag feature to say if a pic is a spoiler or not. Also with cache owners able to tag any photos on their cache.

This has been discussed in a different thread and I believe it is being looked into.

If you're a premium member try this: 1. Create a new Pocket Query that is setup to only show caches you haven't found, from your home coordinates (really you can use any PQ you want). 2. Once you've created it go back to your main list of Pocket Queries. 3. Locate your desired PQ and under the "Preview" heading click on the right icon (looks like a magnifying glass over a map). 4. That will open your pocket query in the Geocaching.com Google Maps mode and you will only see the caches pulled from the pocket query. Jared of AZBliss02 Forgot about that function. I already have such a query and have used the map in the past, just don't think through these things when I type here! I concur. They're a little big and on some maps they cover up road names at any zoom level. That said, they do look nice but I personally see the extra information on the pin itself as redundant since hovering over it highlights the detail on the right side anyway. Just my opinion. These new icons will take some getting used to. I'm not worried about the new cachers... they don't have enough finds or hides to get confused. Besides, they can learn the colors as quick as the icons. I agree with the other points though and would love any extra information that doesn't take up map real estate. Use that detail section on the right for all kinds of status information and I'd be a happy cacher. Add the cache size & difficulty and I'd sign a lifetime membership agreement! I dig the log summary (found/dnf/note/etc) but I'm guessing that "published" will pretty much always be 1. Regardless of the interface changes... I'm LOVING the new new server speed! I agree with comments about size and colour of the boxes. They look great but obliterate the map. unavailable caches could easily have a small X in the box, and the popup box instead of the red overlay would allow for the GC code to be shown without having to click through each cache and wait for the info to open in the panel above.

I'm willing to stand corrected but I appeared in my collegues list when I invited him and recieved no invite. We now appear in each others list.
-
Incorrect. You will automatically appear in their list.

Will there be an option to see whose Friend List my name is on (after awhile, I might end up forgetting who I've approved) and will there be an option to remove my name from anothers list? For example - boyfriend requests adding my name, I approve - now boyfriend is an ex and I really don't want him knowing just what I'm doing while out caching - or even when I'm caching since I log at the site itself using my mobile. Looks like any friend request means that the you appear in each others Friends List. So i I were to invite you, when you accept you would see me as a friend at the same time as you appearing in my list. I therefore assume that if you click 'Remove Friend' you will disappear from their list at the same time they disappear from yours. I've not been able to check yet as my only 'friend' has just left the office!

I think I have missed something What new look? I hate missing out on stuff! Visit any cache page and click on the Geocaching Google Maps link next to the rubbish default map. Theres new icons and bubbles that show if you have found the cache or not. LINK <Edit - Link added>
-
This would be a great option! I live in cache rich area and although the new icons show which I have found, you still have to filter through to locate those that I havn't. If I could exclude those that I have found it would make life much easier to locate the unfound ones!!
-
I'm on IE6 here and the buttons and icons all work as i'd expect with the map updating to show those in the list when I use the page selection buttons.

This is a locigal suggestion! Maybe when anyone uploads a picture from now on there could be a check box to state if the picture is a spoiler. Then the thumbnail row is set (with a user conditional option) to either include or exclude photos marked as a spoiler. Those checked would then not appear in the thumbnails. Also give the cache owner the ability to mark any pic as a spoiler, this would mean any past photos could be tagged.
