Well, Little Quest is all up and running. So the question is more, what about Big Quest. On a previous thread I still got a lot of positive comments about getting it started. But if people don't want two running then i'm not going to spend time working on it. So peeps, what d'ya say?

but not by finding details at the site to use in a multi. Essentially an Earthcache is learning about the location but not finding a physical conatiner afterwards. I believe that most ancient sites could have a cache located outside its boundary using display boards etc as waypoints in a multi, therefore getting the best of both worlds!

IMHO an earthcache should be about the earth, Not what we've done to it. You couldn't place one next to a current building/monument, so why should we get one next to one that is ruined? I only did my first earthcache on Tuesday and was interested to read about the geological process/history of the location. If there are archaeological sites that are worth visiting could we not place a multi with details to be gained from the site? Or even a well placed micro ?

Science Museum demonstration of Geocaching

Looks like i'll be able to make it. More than willing to show unsuspecting muggles a quick way to lose all their free time! -
I enjoy almost every cache I find, irrespective of how many people have found it before me. I do have 5 FTFs under my belt though and enjoyed the extra buzz of knowing that i was 1st there (and being one of only a few people on the planet to know it was there...) In Basingstoke the same names often appear at the start of the log book/sheet so if i'm around and notice a cache in the area thats not been logged then I will go out there and try and get it. More for my own warm fuzzy feeling that to beat the others. FTF has become a large part of the game (why else would GC.com create notifications when theres a perfectly good email each Friday!?) Just listen to a Podcacher episode to hear people getting excited about an FTF.

Hi Guys, Appologies for the lack of comment on the Quest recently. Due to a holiday and due to the very unexpected death of my brother in June i've not had a chance to look at this for some time. In terms of progress before I stopped, I have a website that is well on the way to being finished. I have had some emails from OldGimmer (OP) including drafts of details to be sent to Groundspeak however have not had a chance to work through these as yet. I am hoping to get all the things I had to put on hold back on track in september and will try and make this a priority. Regarding the project as a whole. I think as so many people were interested in the first place I would suggest that it remains a county challenge. (Oh and nice choice in Atlas Mrs B. I make those for a living!)

Thats quite special!

This is an annoyance! It also happens on the homepage! Further to fixing this, it would be handy if when typing in these boxes that you don't need to whole GC number. Due to the cursor issue mentioned above I tend to double-click and type over the whole box. If I type GCD0BE its fine however if I type D0BE I get 'cache not published'. I tend to ignore GC as it applies to all waypoints and i'm sure i'm not the only one. It would be great if the searches could take this into account too.

Advice Please! Looking to buy Stickers or Stamps
Bambography replied to shiltonpig's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Regarding my comment earlier about paper/ink issues. Over lunch I reprinted some labels using a colour laser printer and larger Avery Labels. They are much better, no smudging and better print. I do have to chop them down to the size I wanted, but much better than them looking rubbish! I'll echo that! Although I don't own any micros, living in Basingstoke i've done my fair share. It is rather annoying to squeeze your name/initials along the side of someones stamp, sticker or story. -

If you go here on the Avery site you can download a free version of their own label printing software. Its setup for all their own labels. easy peasy I tried this last night with some Avery Sitckers however couldn't find the template. Either way I got it working and they looked fine! However once they had printed and i'd left them to dry for a while, I went to fold the sheets to put in my caching bag and smudged almost every sticker. Doesn't appear that they will be very cacher proof once in the log book. Does anyone else find this or is it down to the printer/paper. Would a newer photo printer be less prone to smudge? -
Congratulations Edgemaster

You should get out more!! (But keep up with the scripts, life would fall apart without them!) Well done! -
Sadly I didn't get the chance to pop down to visit this. Things in central London took too long! Glad someone found it ok!
-
Those are not waterproof, infact there is a gap all the way round under the lid! I wouldn't recommend it, nothing worse than soggy cache.
-
I can highly recommend this method! Especially if you want someone to visit tomorrow!
-
Just cos i'm lazy, whats the nearest tube station?
-
Oh, i'm in London tomorrow. Maybe i'll pop down and take a look!! Can't promise though!

Changing the mission would be impossible unless people read all the logs on the TB page. Adding a tag could work but again its not yours to change... Why not visit a random countries forum and ask for a volunteer to recieve it by post. Send it to them (how much can it cost..?) then see if it can make it back for a 2nd time. That way the whole Unite idea doesn't just die out, but is kept in motion, spreading the word - that being the whole idea.
-
Well done guys, Might be worth changing the name of the cache slightly (or by a factor of 10) to be a little more accurate! Well done all!
-
Its going backwards, 5 now. Whos archiving, and does this mean that we're likely to end up with several 20,000th caches...?!?
-
Are you going to vet the big one to make sure its a worthy cache..?!?
-
Oo, - 3 left, a sneeky one elsewhere
-
Yours in fact Lotho!

DING! I just got a published email! Keep at it folks!
