  1. Hi folks, I've not read through all the posts but just wanted to question the length of the event. I've noticed a few posts and a couple of logs asking/stating that the event should be over the course of a week or weekend. I have to admit this idea does spoil the idea as far as I can see. The point to me would be to have all those people together on the same day for a gathering. If it was open for a week, its just gathering names of people that pass by. I'm not going to see any large gathering or get to meet half the people i'd expect to see. Geowoodstock for example is just a day. This is not to say that people don't camp or stay for a weekend or indeed a week, but I think that for this to count in my mind that it has to be a one day event.
  2. Arrrrr, an event in Hope!! Well Shiver me timbers! Course plotted and me & the first mate (and maybe one or two others) hope to be there!!
  3. Fair enough. I was thinking about the comment where someone pointed out that you would have to ensure all the details were kept current in all languages. Just thought it would save a job but I see what you are saying.
  4. I think this is probably more than is necessary, as long as the English version is kept fairly businesslike. The page will inevitably change and it's a pain to keep the details in sync. If someone would like to "say when" (ie, when the cache page is ready for the general public to sign up, with links to the accommodation site etc) then I will happily spam inform the .fr/.be/.nl/.de forums in their own language (with a substantial caveat for my German). You may find this page useful! I've not tried it myself and i've heard that the translations are not brilliant, but folk will be able to get the gist of what the site is about and get the information needed! Google Translate
  5. My goodness, your broadband breaksdown for a couple of weeks and all hell breaks loose! What a cracking idea! Already looking forward to this and just pray that we are free on the right date!! Consider it done!
  6. This sounds like a cracking idea. If it is going to be in August you will have to avoid the tourist hot spots like Kendal etc. A central location is a must and the Peak District would be fantastic. The trick will be locating somewhere with the space, not only for the camping, but the event area itself. Buildings or marquees will be needed for catering, control/check-in, TB swaps etc. Also vendors will want an area to set up. Somewhere like regional showgrounds have all these facilities but will cost. Otherwise it is places like Billing Aquadrome that are set up to handle camping rallies.
  7. 1 is the Blackpool Tower, Is 7 the replica of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas?
  8. Hi Folks, Sorry for the silence on this one. Having just read that Little Quest is up and running i'm feeling more than a little guilty that its older brother still isn't So sorry for that! Back in October I emailed the mothership with full details on the project. I'd spoken to Jeremy at the London event about it and everything seemed positive. However the reply had concerns about the website side of it. I replied to all their points and am still awaiting a 2nd reply. I'll let everyone know what is happening with this when I hear more. In the meantime, I have to ask the question again, do people still want this to happen, in its current form, and should there be any changes? Chris.
  9. All sorted, thanks folks! Mods - Close at will. Ta!
  10. Great, thats what I needed!! Thanks!!! If anyone has done this and still has a record of the final coords, it would be great to have someone check my answers (when I have one....). If someone is willing could you PM me. Cheers, Chris.
  11. Guys, I was planning to have a crack at Top Spot (near Newbury) today for my 300th cache, however with the server down I dont have the details (I don't even know the GC#) Does anyone have a GPX etc that has the starting coords for me to work out the location from??? Also, if anyone is willing to confirm my solution could you send me contact details, I was hoping to try it this afternoon!! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!
  12. Ah, now i've tried the link properly again, now I see you all! Very good, and well done to 'whoever' put it together!
  13. I think some of us may be missing something here??
  14. So did I in Firefox, but Safari worked ok.
  15. No, no.... Not me!!! Watch Me Dance!!!!
  16. Brilliant!! Fantastic news!! Does this mean a London Event on April 6th to cheer her on??
  17. I DNF'd a cache for the 3rd time this weekend having spent a total of about 6hrs searching. (Not as It Seems nr Southampton for those that know it). Since I know this is a devil I don't mind the time, however other more 'normal' caches wouldn't get kind of treatment! Depends on the cache, location, weather and general attitude on the day.
  18. Darn, you go away for a day, come back and someone has already sold a coin you're trying to get your hands on! Lovely gesture!
  19. Blimey, i've just recieved one from Groundspeak too, well one more to get out there!
  20. I was wondering what would happen if there were any leftovers, did you get them then Bambography?? I picked up a dozen spares to hand out to local cachers in the NE Hants area. I think it is fantastic the way geocaching has taken on board the Diabetes message, and in such a fun way. Thanks Geocaching.com/Groundspeak... I couldn't get all of the left overs. I asked what would be happening with them and although they were not 100% sure, they believe that they will be made available online at a cost that would cover postage and a small donation to the charity. When this happens it will be communicated via Groundspeak to ensure that geocachers are aware of it.
  21. Rightio folks. I too managed to get down to the eye last night and following two visits to the lovely girls standing in the cold I have a lot of coins in a box here. Anyone still wanting one PM me with an address.
  22. If I do indeed get to London i'm hoping to be there for 5pm too Edgemaster, maybe see you there! I'll be trying to get my hands on as many as possible so watch this space for handouts!
  23. I'm not a London cacher but will be there on Wednesday. PM Sent.
