This is actually one of my nearest caches. Only this weekend was I out looking at the map on the GPS wondering when 'that new cache' had appeared without me noticing. When I looked into it I found it was the relocated cache i'd already done. I have to admit although i'd probably do it again at some point, if you archive and launch it as a new cache (which is what should have been done IMO) then i'd have probably been out there one evening by now. I'd change it if I were you.

Replacement OS map on GC Page

Good work Edgemaster! Thanks again for the hard work you keep putting in! -
I'll second the vote for Regents Park caches. The letterbox exchange is a suprising cache for the location, but i've enjoyed most of the London Park caches. I've also heard good things about London Invasion, so will be trying that before too long!

In London near Holland Park area (1 day cache ideas?)
Bambography replied to WCSUN's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
On 1 day last year, I started in Holland Park then walked to & through Hyde Park, up Oxford Street & Great Portland Street and into Regents Park. Off the top of my head I found 17 caches and walked about 12 miles. It was a great day out and even took time to pop into a Camera store in town. My list is below to help you out although i've not checked to see if they are in order, and I think the last one maybe on the way back to the train. Some are unavailable at the moment...) (Edited to add that I also think there are some new ones in the area too!) Holland Park #1 Holland Park #3 Road to Falmouth ????, ????, What have we here? Garmin Etrex Vista HCx, rubbish in the woods
Bambography replied to gullyh's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I've had no issues at all with my new Vista HCx that i got for xmas The reciever is very good and even gave me 4m accuracy in the lounge when I first turned it on! As others have said the unit does have to be flat to work correctly however you shouldn't have to move for it to spin round towards the location. Try calibrating the compass (in the menu on the navigation/compass screen I believe) that might help. -
Great News! Well done folks!

Looks like most of the caching population will be somewhere between Hope and Harrogate for a week in the summer. All those caches will be quite busy that week. Looking forward to it already!

Excellent. A 2 week holiday upt' norf with Pirates one weekend and this the next! Looking forward to a great summer!!

I really don't like this. the most useful aspect of the map is to see the distribution of caches, this completely spoils this and make it hard to see where things are from a distance. I realise that it gets a bit bundled up when there are a lot of caches, however this makes it less useful then seeing a blob of caches. What suprises me most is that I see so many requests for useful features on the site yet they seem to be playing with things that don't need fixing.

Surely this is the same argument as asking for virtuals to come back?? Groundspeak also run Waymarking but we're not going to have them merged (just yet...) so why would we be able to merge these? Surely its a different game. Edit to add: I do think that this new site could be quite fun and look forward to working out how to get the blooming GPS to work on the PocketPC I borrowed from a mate months ago so I can go and give it a shot. I just think they should stay separate entities. -
HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL! Hope the new year brings you all loads of finds (except your prolific cachers, give us all a chance to catch up) - and remember, its not about the numbers!!! []

Big Congrats folks! Well Done!

This is my take on Quaraing - Isle of Skye Didcot Power Station - What A Load of Rubbish Basingstoke Cemetery - Headley Goes Ghostly -
Theres this one Copied from it: TFTC (means thanks for the cache) TNLN (means took nothing, left nothing) TFTMC (means thanks for the micro cache) TFTVC (means thanks for the virtual cache) SL (means signed logbook) TNLNSL (means took nothing, left nothing, signed log) TFTH (means thanks for the hide or thanks for the hunt) FTF (means First to Find a cache that is newly placed, usually followed by some exclamation points and a fancy dance, known as the FTF dance.) CITO (means Cache In/Trash Out a cache site or park. Visit this great CITO cache) Tbug (means travel bug. Learn more here) TB (also means travel bug) GPSr (means gps receiver) WG dollar (Where’s George dollar-a game involving the tracking of paper money often intertwined with geocaching. Learn more here) MIA (missing in action of course, but is often used to describe a travel bug that is logged as being in a cache on the geocaching.com website but is not to be found. Can also be used to describe a missing cache.) BM (means benchmark, as in benchmark hunting-check out more here) Or theres THIS ONE which has a few others including things seen here on the Forums. Oh, and Welcome to the obsession!

Cachers are old b*ggers really!
Bambography replied to currykev's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Hello from the young section of the audience! I'm 27 (joining the 28 club in under a month) and consider myself an active cacher! My partner is the same age! I have to admit that everyone else I know are over the 'oldies' dividing line, albeit by small amounts in several cases. -

Cheap Gekos £29.99
Bambography replied to Cave Troll and Eeyore's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Not quite £29.99, but this place has very good prices! EBay - GPSOnlineShop Dont be put off by the 'phoning with card details' which on first inspection looks a little dodgy. I tried it and had no problem (That was a Geko 201 back in the summer). Following that i'm 'hoping' to get a Vista HCx on tuesday and it would be a complete surprise Either way, great quick service and decent prices! -

Anyone got a birthday in January?
Bambography replied to fraggle69's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
My birthday is the 20th too! However, I may have plans that weekend but will try and attend if I can! -
I dropped a note to Sonny & Sandy at Podcacher pointing out that you guys had started planning for this event. They said they would be more than happy to mention it, so keep your ears peeled on upcoming shows! PS Hope i've not stood on any toes doing this. Thought publicity like that could only do good!
-
I watch ones that intend to do, are known to be tricky or ones I have logged a DNF on. Other than that its only events, for which i've now set up an email filter following about 100 'will attends' from the mega event. I have to admit that I do remove them from the list once I have done them unless I have a special interest - its taken several visits to find it, a friend owns it, or it usually gets great logs/stories.
-
That sounds fine and kind of what i'd expect. My worry was that i'd read something early on saying that a Sunday-Saturday would give people the choice of which weekend to attend, therefore spreading out the visitors by half.
