  1. Someone with the same feelings as me. I felt so smug to have found this little film can hiding on a bridge that hundreds of people cross every day. Then within days i'd found another, and now i've found 340! And often still get that smug feeling as I walk away, particularly if there are muggles around! Welcome to the addiction!
  2. I think maybe next year we should look into the possibility of running a proper and full Geocaching display/intro talk. It worked a treat at the Swindon event last summer so no reason that it wouldn't there! It would be better to go into geocaching itself, rather than the website!!
  3. My answer to that would be Yes. So long as there are no signs telling you otherwise. Quite often tracks through woods are not shown as public footpaths (See the New Forest as a prime example) but you are permitted to use the paths. I assume that this means that permission can be withdrawn without notice and therefore be careful to follow any signs locally.
  4. Ask and ye shall receive Wiki article on the Jellies Ahhh, I geddit now!
  5. I was there yesterday. Had plenty of time to look at the Colorado, with the exception of the other half standing around saying "But I got you a good one for Xmas...." (which she did, so I mustn't complain! Had a good wonder around the show, met aaronsharpe & willow177 as we popped along to see what the Geocaching talk was all about. Turned out to be a small intro to geocaching with a push on the new geocachingwales.com website. Quick pointers to travel bugs etc. It was short and sweet, could perhaps of been in slightly more detail but it got the message across and there seemed to be at least 2 families interested.
  6. Geojellys , now i'm curious... any wish to enlighten me...??
  7. Either of the sites below should give you your answer. I've used the Christchurch one on Forest Holidays which was nice enough (at least I think it was that one). Either way, a good place to start. http://www.visitforestofdean.co.uk/ http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/camping__c...st_of_dean.aspx
  8. I'll be there on the Sunday. I had a flyer that stated that Garmin would be running a geocaching competition but not heard anything else about that...
  9. I can't do really hard puzzle caches but people still publish them! I think its a great addition to the game! I've just borrowed a friends spare PDA and got it all installed with a view to get out to one soon. Will also try and get my creative juices flowing and set one at somepoint!!
  10. I'll echo HH's view on mapping. I didn't think anthing of it until I got it at which point I was caching in a town and suddenly realisd how good it was to know that I'd have to take a long detour to get round to a cache as there are no roads directly. I'll be in touch soon! Chris.
  11. Hi nightroamer, I understand from you're recent log on my cache that you live only a few streets away, so if you want I could, at somepoint, meet you somewhere and show you the eTrex Vista HCx that I have. Its a great unit, handles the mapping nicely and with the 'H' receiver its not failed me yet (though I did only get it at Xmas... plenty of time yet!) Got mine HERE We also have a Geko 201 however since you are looking at the H versions then you're not going to be interested in that. Give me a shout if you want.
  12. Better still, take them with you and get them hooked as well! I did that and now much of my family tree are geocaching (on my mums side at least!)
  13. Ah! Magic! Thats new on there since I last trawled through for scripts! Thanks both!
  14. I was thinking that the 'View Cache' form that appears on the homepage is a useful item, however it only appears on the homepage. This results in extra clicks via the homepage each time I want to view a cache via its GC#. Having introduced quite a few new cachers recently this is one of the things that they struggle with, 'where to find cache 'GCxxxx'. A much more logical place for this tiny form to be would be just under the main menu on the left of the screen. That way it would appear on every page you visit, require almost no extra bandwidth but save on the extra traffic & clicking through to and loading of the homepage each time you look for it. Here is the sort of thing I had in mind (sorry if the images are a little big)
  15. Thanks for all the hard work Edgemaster! I have to agree with PUP! However getting them to spend out on a UK only feature maybe a bit of a challenge. One i'm willing to back though!
  16. Arf, arf: you asked for it! Anyone live near 51°14.751'N, 1°14.331'W (Basingstoke)? If so, go out and log this! Oooh, do I win again, thats just 6.5km from this very computer!. however I won't be heading out to find it right now...
  17. Yes, the double question mark did the job. YAY!!!!! I don't normally win these things.... I'd like to thank my partner, without whose moral support i'd never get through these tests and more importantly my parents for doing whatever it was they did.. (too innocent me).. to give me this chance in life! Thank you to you all!! I've got that warm fuzzy feeling, sorry you missed out!
  18. I use a standard 1Gb Sandisk card and have no issues.
  19. Didn't take long. Sadly not by me though. Been a little busy at work this week otherwise i'd have been out there!
  20. I may well pop along! I'll be heading back to Basingstoke, most likely by train so could give you a friendly nudge if you don't go the Reading route.
  21. My 'Homeward Bound' TB that is racing home from Italy. Following its first move from Italy into Germany it has been in a large circle and back into exactly the same cache in Germany after about 6 months travel.
