  1. I have a couple other hobbies (not caching type) I do and I noticed less caches being put out. And the ones that are, are by newbies that I am finding coordinates off or poorly placed. Even some of them get tired of having to maintain and then leave them to be archived by the reviewer.
  2. Even if it doesn't kill the tree it is still vandalism. Especially where the tree is located like in a park. Unless it's your own tree in your yard.
  3. I see it as the one doing the work is your ToTT. Especially if you have someone who is not scared of heights.
  4. I don't really care for the New checker they include in new puzzles. Still will always use Certitude
  5. I had some kids who didn't sign a logbook cause they said it was soaked. I went out there and it was damp, Rite in Rain paper. Nothing wrong with it. But since they sent me a photo I let them slide.
  6. I periodically check mine. Some signatures will be on the back or out of sync. What I hate is when you suspect someone and then find the cache is missing and you can't prove they didn't sign it. Also not sure if these cachers are smart enough when they post a Found It log saying they didn't sign it because they forgot their pen. Why not not mention it? Had one recently on one of mine that is under a bench and you have to get down under to see it. The cacher logged a find "I saw it but too many muggles for me to sign it"
  7. Depends on the state. In WA I placed 3 in a state park and contacted the Park Manager. Filled out the forms and the Park Manager reviewed the caches and that was it, except you have to have on the cache page something about the State Park and you got them approved. In California no permits are required but some will say No to Caches but many don't mind. I had a cacher tell me a State Police told her they were not allowed in the state park near Clear Lake, CA that I had one in. When I contacted the State Park they said they don't know why the State Police said that. They love having the caches there because it brings more people to the park. And the State Police does not have jurisdiction in the State Park.
  8. In SFBA there are a lot of them, some I don't mind but when you think about the long drought we have many trees are dead or dying. And they die from the inside so you don't see that when you are looking at them. We usually try to use a ladder instead of climbing
  9. Old enough to get a Lifetime Senior Pass for the National Parks.
  10. I have one cloth camo bison in a Redwood tree. Really blends in.
  11. I sometimes use my iphone but when I get down to about 30ft it just jumps around. Without a hint it makes it harder. So I will grab my gps and enter the coords.
  12. It does bother me. I delete those logs. Especially irks me when they say they will come back with a pen. You know they won't come back. Most of my cache pages say "Must sign ..."
  13. You could log an OM just to confirm you checked it even though there is not DNFs.
  14. Both of mine mentioned are in plain sight. One I think I posted a photo on the forum a long time ago. So far both of mine I mentioned have never gone missing. I have had to replace logsheets. One I did have someone put a throwdown on it just because they couldn't find it.
  15. Not that I remember. One of the two listed here had a NA (deleted) by some Charter Member but not experienced in difficult hides. I drove out there and I didn't even have to get out of my car to see it was still there. I should have left the NA on it just to prove even long time cachers can miss an "in plain sight" evil cache.
  16. I don't hear anything because my app is sitting in the passenger seat and I'm using a GPS
  17. Been over this a many times. Some post DNFs when they should be Notes, like too many muggles, or they look at a DNF on a previous post and decide it's not there so they post a DNF. I do my best to check most of mine but sometimes it seems a little much if they are still there. How do you decide to do a NM or NA when the cache is evil? Here are two of mine. Do I need to go back every time a DNF is posted? http://coord.info/GC1WFJF https://coord.info/GC170JW
  18. One other thing about the Lists. As you see because I mention this a lot, that I use it a lot. As you view lists (Bookmark Lists) where do you create a new one? On the old Bookmarks you can easily see it at the top and create a new one. The new lists you can only seem to do it from a cache page. If I am wrong can someone tell me where on the List Page you see where you can?
  19. Like most of it except the LIST section. My Favorite list is too long and it comes up first so it takes forever to go through it and still missing the Watchlist. Should separate the list to close until you chose which list you want to see. For me Favorites is NOT my top list I want to view.
  20. I liked it better "Not to create a spot/space for a cache" like I mentioned above. Drilling a hole in a pole, tree, fence or anything that was already there. The word I use is Vandalism!!!
  21. My favorite is the mouse stamp With lanyard it is always with you. It pops open with one hand and self inks. Small enough not to take up a lot of space on a logsheet. I can even stamp a nano log. edit: And the price is perfect $10
  22. Many OM to me seems like they care about their cache enough to keep it up to date, make sure the logsheet isn't full, making sure it is still there. etc. Haven't I seen it written that COs should check their caches on a regular basis? And in doing so post an OM log stating the cache has been checked? On many of my evil ones I get DNFs but it doesn't mean it's not there. Just means I did a good job hiding it.
  23. Most I found usually rip on the sides. Also cachers sometimes put pencils or other sharp objects in them and they get holes. Depending on the container you could try something like a 35mm or test strip container inside your cache.
  24. Yeah it should have been a note. DID NOT FIND! means that. DNF when you didn't even try it doesn't make sense. If it were me I would either contact the cacher and ask them to change it to a note or delete it as it is not a Found message, you can.
