  1. I agree, although I'm assuming by "They are using their account, just not in any way that can be tracked" you mean tracked by us, the great unwashed, publicly, as opposed to Groundspeak who would definitely be able to track activity and therefore may be in a position to say no based on what activity they can see... but also not giving a reason, based on that user's right to privacy.
  2. This is annoying for trying to search for caches hidden between certain dates. I open the filter and choose my dates: I apply them and look at the map. If I go back to the filter, I can see that it has changed the dates and not searched for the period of time I wanted: Why does the website think I want different dates than what I actually selected?
  3. Some of the souvenirs for the smaller countries I've noticed are pretty boring and feel kind of cheap... I give Groundspeak a "C- Could do better, not your best work"
  4. My experience too. On our trip last year for the HQ 20th anniversary event and the Abbotsford giga, we crossed over to the US from BC on the day of the giga so we could grab a webcam, and we explained that at the peace arch when crossing into the US and also at Sumas when crossing back to Canada and they all knew about geocaching and thought that was awesome. Later in the trip, crossing into Alberta from Montana at Coutts, the border agent had a long conversation with us about geocaching and how interesting it was, all while there was a big queue behind us lol. Apparently his brother in law had hidden lots of them around the place.
  5. Caching purity, every cache should be findable by everyone, people who make hard puzzles are evil and should be punished by having their puzzles spoilt, etc etc etc. The kind of stuff you'd expect from a petulent 3 year old.
  6. Out of curiosity, how many is that? My map isn't nearly as impressive, but partially because a lot of my countries are smaller than 1 pixel on the map so they don't show up.
  7. Just be aware there is a facebook group that arrogantly sets out to spoil all jigidi based puzzles. The owner of the group is adamant that what they are doing is righteous and holy, but hides behind a fake profile - go figure.
  8. Seems to me like there was an opportunity to perhaps create a new cache type here (that admittedly would be very waymark-esque), which would be virtuals based specifically on benchmarks, but anywhere in the world not just the US. Yes, I know the argument would be just go and do Waymarking, but I think benchmarks are a little different to all the other Waymarking categories in that many of them are a real adventure to recover, not just look there's a bridge for the bridge category, or there's another burger king for the burger king category. Oh well, dreams are 30USD less than a geocaching premium subscription.
  9. That's how Waymarking works. You go there and add them if they aren't there already. I will add myself to the list of those who will miss them though. I had not found many, as I don't live in the US, but when I travelled there, and remembered to look, I enjoyed them. I would have loved the opportunity to search for some that had never been "recovered". It seemed to me like something that fit quite nicely with the mentality behind geocaching. What next? Let's face it, only a minority of geocachers bother with multi-caches, so get rid of them too? :/
  10. Last Europe trip I went on we did nearly 15000km and covered 34 countries: Netherlands, Germany (all states), Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Aland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, San Marino, Vatican, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, France, Luxembourg, Belgium. No problems crossing any borders, only a brief wait at a couple of borders through the Balkans. The car started out with 5km on the odometer. Such an incredibly memorable trip.
  11. Same thing happened to me. I got both souvenirs even though I have not earned the second one. Although I will.
  12. I thought I would try logging another cache, which I have done, but that also didn't resolve it. Thanks @worrellsquirrel I will contact directly, but I guess I would have thought since there will probably be a *lot* of people affected by this, that it would make more sense for you guys to run a script over the database to catch everyone in one go...? Cheers
  13. Anyone from Groundspeak - is there something we can do to resolve it?
  14. Just reporting that I have earned 300 points for the new Signal's Maze, but the souvenir has not been awarded. It's shown in colour on the "Available Souvenirs" page, as though I have earned it, but it's not in my souvenirs. Anyone else not being awarded the souvenir?
  15. A few years back when I added Iceland, Svalbard and a few other places to my countries list, I considered a side trip to Greenland, but with all flight costs taken into account (NZ-UK-Ireland-Canada-Iceland-Svalbard-UK-NZ), it would have increased the budget by at least a third just to nip up to Greenland and back from London. Another time, lol.
  16. Tell me about it. From New Zealand it's getting really difficult to get new countries. "Low hanging fruit" for me have become the likes of Bali, Indonestia, Malaysia, even South Korea and Taiwan... Just got back from the HQ20/22 etc - no new countries, but a couple of new states.
  17. You use two fingers to type on the phone? You're an expert! I'm a one finger typist on the phone!
  18. Well, I've changed the date now. I don't care about whether it's taboo or not, but I changed it with Cachly as per the instructions that HQ gave someone and was noted on the GPS Maze cache page. If it comes from HQ then it's official right?
  19. I don't know if there is already a thread on this, apologies if there is. For some reason when I log the GPS Maze from the recent Abbotsford Giga, my log comes up with the wrong date. It seems lots of people get the correct date 13 Aug, and lots of people get the incorrect date 12 Aug. I'm one of the unlucky ones. I've tried changing my home location to the US side of the dateline. I've tried changing my GC profile timezone to US Pacific time. Nothing works. Why can't I (and many others) log this on the correct day??? A note on the GPS Maze cache page suggests that we have to edit our logs in cachly to the correct date. Cachly doesn't run on my android phone so that's not an option. And seriously, Geocaching HQ, that CANNOT be the solution!
  20. Yep, wasn't a bug until it affected North America. It's ok we are used to it.
  21. We are now 18 hours into this promotion, and still no souvenirs are being awarded.
  22. Lol I get ya... you were just probably closer to the truth...
  23. Why should half the world have to wait? Friday 8th Oct 11:00 UTC has been and gone 14 hours ago.
