  1. In the Urwigo forum I was advised that anything over 5 risks crashing on a Garmin. I had a cartridge with 15 that definitely crashed a Garmin (but it ran fine on my iphone) so I changed it so there were only 5 active at any one time.
  2. The ability to load my own maps made ALL the difference for me. I got a map from maps4me.com ($7 I think) that has all roads, walking trails, contours and great detail. For me the upgrade to 2.15 to be able to get maps made the decision a no-brainer. Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  3. I remade the test cartridges. You can download them here: Test commands Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  4. Yes, but give me a couple of days. It's the weekend now here in Australia and I won't be back in the office with the urwigo files for a couple of days - I'm going to be out finding caches :-) Geoff aka Tyreless
  5. I just gave it a test on an iphone 4s. Created a cartridge with 1 item with 8 commands (Named "Command 1", "Command 2", etc). Each command is meant to bring up a message with its name when it is executed. It doesn't work properly. The commands don't appear in order (they appear in the order 3, 1, 6, 5, 4, 2, 8, 7). Command 3 does nothing. The rest of the commands execute the command for one above it in the list (ie: command 1 says "Command 3"; command 6 says "Command 1", etc). I created a second version with 7 commands and it has the same fault. I then created a third version with 6 commands and it works properly (ie: although the commands are out of order they still execute properly with command 1 saying "Command 1", command 2 saying "Command 2", etc). Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  6. I believe it's possible to reflash with previous firmware (ask someone on magellaninsiders.com). I think the new firmware is good and wouldn't want to go back. Being able to load my own maps is a huge step forward. Interface is better. Managing statistics is easier. All in all it's pretty solid.
  7. I'm pretty sure there is a bug (feature?) in 2.15 where, if you turn tracking OFF in the Settings and clear your current track, the next time you route to a cache the GC will turn tracking back on. Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  8. Jonny65, Thanks for all the feedback. Greatly appreciated! The issue of more than 6-7 zones crashing the Garmin is a problem that I will need to address. I have an idea.... The solution will be to only make 7 zones active. As each zone is reached it is made inactive and a new zone activated. Should be OK. I found in URWIGO that if you make more than 7 zones active when first defining the zones then you get a warning that the cartridge may not work on all devices. However, if you make more than 7 zones active as a result of an event (as my previous version did) then URWIGO does not give you a warning. Live and learn. Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  9. Thanks RF. Here's a download link: Bubbler Dash.gwz I also just realized that the previous gwc file I posted was compiled for Pocket PC, not for a Garmin. Here is a gwc built for a Garmin: Bubbler Dash Garmin.gwc
  10. Apologies. How about the gwc file: Bubbler Dash Geoff aka Tyreless
  11. Hi Jonny65, Thanks for the advice. I have applied it to my cartridge - can you test it for me please? Bubbler Dash Test v2.urwigo It works how I want it on the iphone. How does it look on the Garmin? Thanks again, Geoff aka Tyreless
  12. I changed the GS_LIFE_TIME_FOUND field in settings.xml and it works for me. Cheers, Tyreless
  13. Thanks Jonny65. After toying with a couple of work-arounds I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can make it work consistently across all devices is to update the description rather than the name. This means there is no dynamic display of the timer for the player - they have to open the stopwatch to see the time remaining. Thatt's not so bad. Cheers, Geoff aka Tyreless
  14. Sorry Jonny65. Here, try this: Timer Test.urwigo
  15. Thanks Jonny65. You can get a copy of a stripped down version of the cartridge here: Timer Test. This version works OK on an iphone (ie: the countdown in visible in the main menu updates but it doens't update in the inventories menu). Any feedback appreciated. Cheers, Tyreless.
  16. Oh boy! On the iphone it does the opposite. It updates the item name in the Main Menu (looks very good) but not in the Inventory Menu (looks OK but not great - it won't update until you go back into the Main Menu and then re-select the Inventory Menu). I wish I had a garmin available to me to test this stuff on.
  17. Ahh, that gave me an idea that seems to work in principle. I have an interval timer called stopwatch, with the following event on start: The timer in the player's inventory updates with the correct time remaining. Tyreless. [Edit. A further variation on this theme, and one used by RF, is to update stopwatch.name instead of stopwatch.description. This has a neat feature on an iphone (and maybe other devices) that the countdown can be seen ticking down on the main menu.]
  18. Can anyone help me with displaying a countdown timer? I have an item called "stopwatch". Originally I had an "on click" event that changed the stopwatch.description so that when you clicked on the stopwatch you could see how much time you had left in the game. Then I read that "on click" events don't work with items on Garmin devices, so I created a command called "OK" that would display a message with the time remaining. I don't like it because the player now clicks the Stopwatch and then gets a blank screen with "OK" at the bottom and has to click again to get the time remaining. Not very elegant. I was thinking of a function running in the background that would update the stopwatch.description every second. Is that possible? Or any other suggestions? Thanks, Geoff aka Tyreless
  19. Maybe it is the particular cartridge you are playing. I have an iphone 4s running ios 6.1.3 and can play anywhere cartridges (eg: Slides and Ladders, Lexicon).
  20. Yea like everyone carries a little pocket bible with them at all time. I googled the quotes (bible class wasn't my thing) and it made me laugh! Looks like a hint for the world's longest multi cache.
  21. I would like to see this fixed. Please, Groundspeak.
  22. Not sure what you mean by this. I tried posting a note on one of my archived caches with today's date mid morning here (NZ) and it was still logged as the previous day (=American time). I was using my iPod touch with latest iOS and latest GC app loaded. At least with this one it does seem to open properly where as I gave up using the older version because of it's aversion to opening. It means that you can now say "Will attend", etc, whereas with 5.1 you only got the usual "Found it" type choices.
  23. Hi Johnny65, Thanks for looking at it. I might have zipped up the wrong file in my newbiness. Should I zip up the urwigo file or the gwz file? I had simply renamed the gwz file to a zip file. Tyreless
  24. Big Ups, Akkatrakker! Thanks for keeping these caches alive. Tyreless
