  1. How can that be set so it's not active? What's odd is that the found caches nearby are from years ago (one from 2012), while those further away are recent finds.
  2. The only way that could have happened is if I loaded the "my finds" PQ, which I haven't. That only gets loaded into GSAK. Also, it is not show all of my finds, just some of them.
  3. Is it a problem with the unit or a problem with the Geocaching website? Tried downloading my PQ of unfound caches by wi-fi, and the download failed. 3 times. I have done that successfully in the past. So, then did the old way and downloaded the PQ and dragged it in the GPX files (after deleting the old files and emptying the trash). While that worked, it also loaded caches I've found (from years ago) and I've only had the unit for a couple of months. My PQ clearly is set for caches I haven't found, I don't own, and are enabled. In the PQ list itself on my laptop, no old caches are listed. So, why are they showing up on the GPSr? Any ideas?
  4. I have a Garmin map in it and the battery icon has always had 2 of the 3 bars showing. And those are the Garmin battery pack. Garmin did say I could send it back for a refurbished unit, but if I do, will wait until the warranty is almost finished.
  5. It's the latest update. Garmin asked that, also. I did double check to make sure it was, and that there has not been a more recent release.
  6. I’ve had this GPSr for a few weeks, and at least 4 times it has turned off by itself. The batteries still had plenty of charge left. The time it has been on has been from less than 30 minutes to a couple of hours. I asked Garmin, and they had no answer. Has anyone else had this issue?
  7. Yep. My computer skills are not that great, so I know I did something wrong. It's always been "hit or miss" for me with OSM. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Always appreciate the help and suggestions from those on these forums.
  8. No, I reformatted the SD card before loading the OSM map, but it still doesn't show. But, as I noted, I've bought the Garmin SD card, so good to go! Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions.
  9. Nope--there are no maps at all on the unit. The map select screen is blank. I'm giving up and just going to buy the map--found a good deal on Amazon. Even if I have to pay the full Garmin price, it's worth it not to have to keep struggling with OSM.
  10. When I open the Select Map, the screen is blank.
  11. About a month ago, I downloaded a map using OSM. Then, on my Macbook, I opened the zip file, plugged in my Garmin, dragged the map to the SD card, and it worked just fine. Today, I tried the same thing, and the map did not show up on the GPS. The SD card shows it is there, but nothing shows on the GPS screen. I also tried two different SD card readers, as well as 4 different SD cards. What am I doing wrong? The card in the GPS is seated, batteries are fine, no issues with it at all. In fact, the old SD card that I used does show that map. Thanks.
  12. Yes, it is a logo-interpreter: https://www.calormen.com/jslogo/ Can't figure out how to go the other way, ie, encode something.
  13. It's a code that I found for a mystery geocache. Found a decoder for it, but not way to encode.
  14. Good info! Just tried it and it's working. Question--my main PQ is unfound in my area. When I download it, does it completely replace the old list, including caches that have been found? Also, if I select different PQ, will that replace, ie, erase, whatever list was on there? I guess I could try that on my own, but I'm still in a learning curve and don't want to make a mess of things. Thanks.
  15. I did the switch to classic, but it is not at all like my prior unit. So, switched back to the new look and am working with it. I'm still have a bit of trouble getting the screen I want, but working through it. One thing I really like is having the map and compass/distance on the same screen.
  16. Just got one of these, and find it a bit vexing to use. I've been told that there is a setting to make it look/act like the old Garmin. Anyone know what that setting is? Thanks.
  17. To maybe make it a bit difficult for our local FTF fiend!?
  18. Anyone know where I can find an encoder for Turtle? Looked on the geocaching toolbox, but couldn't find it. Just found a decoder for it, but not an encoder. Thanks.
  19. Ok, I'm feeling a bit dense today. It's called Memory Lane, but you have to find new caches to qualify? I don't get it. Must be the growing heat--in to the 90's soon, after 50 last week.....
  20. Thanks--I should have thought of that!
