  1. Brian I just tested downloading .loc file and changing extension to GPX then opened in Wordpad. Looks just like your results no <sym>. So looks like if you follow the instructions in my last post that you will get the correct file to run Jolly B's instructions on. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  2. Try opening the file in EasyGPS and click saveas. In the file type box change to GPX. Is this what you are doing or just changing the file extension? Then open this file in Wordpad and proceed as Jolly B outlined. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  3. That is strange. You should see something like below. <wpt lat="39.016850000" lon="-86.328400000"> <name>GCBAD4</name> <desc>Yellowstone-Quest for the Colors by The Winningham Boys</desc> <url>http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCBAD4</url> <urlname>Cache Details</urlname> <sym>Geocache</sym> <type>geocache</type> </wpt> Do you have the latest version of EasyGPS 1.2.2? Have you tried to manually change one of these points and then see if it changes the GPX? Actually I just tried converting several different ways back and forth and always came back with the same results. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  4. I would suggest giving Spinner a test drive. Once I did there was no turning back. I did the find and replace method for awhile. Spinner has the great feature of making each icon and waypoint name custom for different cache types. This is way cool since you know that a cache page may be required for a multi or that you are searching for a micro or virtual. Also if consecutive no finds it is displayed as a cemetery. Forgot to mention once setup and there is very little. This is a single double click operation. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  5. Look for the GPX Spinner.ini file located in the same directory as Spinner is installed. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  6. Just to verify that the map you are viewing is a Mapsource and not the base map. It should say "Mapsource" in the lower right corner just below the scale bar on the Legend I believe. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  7. Pocket Queries + Watcher or Better yet PQ + Spinner + Watcher "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  8. Many many thanks. Keep up the great work! "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  9. Yes, I emailed the approver and he apoligized for not deleting the note. I guess they too are just getting familar with this feature. Seems to me if Groundspeak wants to really use this feature then it should auto delete no questions asked. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  10. I just spent a great deal of time setting up a multi-cache and used the new approvers notes feature. Reading that this was to be deleted at approval I thought this would be a good place to place spoiler info for the approver. Like the final coordinates to the cache. The cache was approved and the note was not deleted. So there the "new" cache was with the final coordiantes posted for all to see. I am not sure how long it was in this condition or how many may have seen it. Needless to say I will not be using this feature in the future. Is this supposed to work like this? 11. I have one of these works perfect for the GPSMap76. Has the features you described. Except color is black and green. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  12. I have been using mine on all flights I have been taking lately. If it is not specificly listed as an approved device in the magazine on each plane, I ask the flight attendents. Each one has said no problem. One even came back to check the speed and bearing. It is neat to mark interesting points along the way and then see what they are. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  13. Red Barron sorry for my late reply. I missed your question first go around. Looks like you have seen the Cybret tutorial on using this. Spinner watcher and others are available here "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  14. I really like my 76S. I use the external antenna in my car and when going on longer hikes. The external antenna allows you to use the compass and not lose or degrade the signal by holding horizontal. This feature and the larger screen were the selling points for me. "It's not rocket surgery...!"
  15. Awesome! Congradulations on your 100th. I also just hit my 100th cache today. It's not rocket surgery...!
  16. Try this It's not rocket surgery...!
  17. Yes,I just paid for Isilo after the demo ran out. Tried to get plucker to work faster and never could. Slow on the builds and slow on my palm was all I ever got. Isilo lightening fast builds and instant access on my Palm.
  18. If you are a premium member you can setup a pocket query and use the GPX format. Then use Spinner to automaticly change the icons to what ever you want. I like the default setup. Has different icons for micros, virtuals etc...
  19. I just renewed about a week ago. The number you need will actually come to you twice. Once from pay pal it looks something like this. Subscription Number: S-xxxxxxxxx The other will arive from Groundspeak and will have this. Your subscription code is: S-xxxxxxxxxxx Both are the same number and this is what is entered in at the register page.
  20. I used EasyMPS until I purchased ExpertGPS. EasyMPS worked great to convert the GPX to MPS format.
  21. Forgot to mention. By your profile it looks like you may not have access to the Pocket Queries. This is where you can get the most use out of your PDA. Use Spinner and Watcher to manipulate the queries then plucker or Isilo to create the file for your PDA.
  22. You might want to give Isilo a try. It is a lot quicker and they have a 30 day free trial. $20 to purchase if you like it. You will need this Isilox to create the file for your PDA. The 2 files above amount to about 2meg. Plucker is around 11meg. I can send you a disk with plucker if you like. I can also include ISilo on the same disc. Just email me via my profile with an address. Spange & Crew
  23. Well I have been using Plucker an Isilo for almost a month. My question is I am just about done with my 30 day trial on Isilo and not sure if I need to purchase it. My problem is the speed of Plucker. Running on a Palm IIIxe pulling up the pages in Plucker seems to take an eternity compared to the instant response from Isilo. Is this typical of Plucker to take 30-40 seconds to load the index.htm from a 500 waypoint PQ ran thru Spinner? Any one have any hints to get better response on the viewer? I have tried removing all images etc... with no change. The desktop portion also runs much slower than Isilox but, I can live with that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
