  1. Well yeah there is an update. A friend who is a premium member gave me the coords, which I was off a bit on mine. I have since found it, just can't claim it until I decide if I am going to do the premium thing or not.
  2. Sorry. No broken GPSr here to trade for your broken Axim.
  3. I placed a cache out a couple of weeks ago and it was published about a week ago. Tonight, I went to check on it and went in an alternate way to get to it. I found an area going in the back way that is a much better location than the one I chose when I placed it. This area is about 150' from where the cache is currently listed at. Can a cache be moved so soon into it's young life with new coordinates placed for its location ?
  4. Well, guess what? I did. Twice as a matter of fact. Went to page 143 in the test area and posted my test picture. Both tests appeared right here instead........Beats me why or how.
  5. typing your zip code into the search area will give you the caches in your area. I would start with the ones marked 1/1, for easy terrain and location until you get the hang of what to look for in areas. Also I would stay away from micros for a bit. They can be really frustrating. Have fun and enjoy.
  6. I have a couple that I made that are my favorites. At a boating store, I bought some key rings that have an attached tube about 6" tall and a diameter about the size of a 35mm film canister. They have a screw on waterproof top. The tube is hollow to place boat registeration, jewelry or whatever into and if fallen overboard, they float. I covered them in camo duck tape, then went to search for a hide place. Once I located a good spot, I looked at the vegetation and leaves, then went to a hobby lobby in town and bought some artificial plants with leaves to match the surrounding they were to be planted in. I cut some leaves and foliage and duck taped them to the canister. With the key ring on the tube, it will fit over a small branch and when placed into a tree or bush that stays green year-round, they are virtually invisible. Mine contain only a logbook and pencil.
  7. I just bought a Legend C and still learning all about it. Right now, when I load a waypoint and press "GoTo", the unit goes straight to the map page. I have figured out how to modify what is on the display and have the satellite, compass, find and main menu saved in my page sequence setup. Like mentioned, when "GoTo" is pressed, the display goes straight to the map. I want it to go straight to the compass page with the arrow that directs you in the direction of the cache. I don't want the map coming up automatically. Is there any way I can disable it? Thanks, Rick
  8. Kasakato- I started with the etrex Legend and found the Legend C on the garage sale portion of this forum a couple of weeks ago. It was used, but could pass for new. I gave $125 for it and like it so well, I just sold the Legend on EBAY today and plan on buying either another Legend C for my son, or getting the Vista C for myself and handing the Legend C down to him. It was amazing at the difference between the Legend and Legend C. The acurracy is way better, it holds a satellite track tremendously better and will receive a signal inside the house, truck or my pocket where the legend would not. If you are considering one, this is a solid vote for them.
  9. Thanks Briansnat. I just bought a Legend C a couple of weeks ago and find that it holds a track much better and seems to have a much better satellite reception and lock than the Etrex Legend that I was using. I just sold the Legend on Ebay today. This was what my son was using for caching. I am now in the market for another GPS and he wants a Legend C too. I found the Vista C on Ebay and compared it to the legend C and that was all I found in the specs that was different. The compass would be pretty nice and I was wandering if anyone was using a Vista C to let me know if they hold the lock and track as well as the Legend C does. If so, I may just get the Vista C and let my son have this legend C. I know there is alot of good talk about the 60 series, but I am limited to around the $200 range.
  10. The only thing I see different is the Vista C has a built in compass where the Legend C does not. Is there anything I am missing because I don't see roughly $50 more for the compass here.
  11. It seems mine appear right after I log my find and leave remarks to the cache. Are you sure you are logged in? If you are not logged in, they will not show up.
  12. Well, I don't know if the coords have changed or not, or even if it has been moved due to it now being only available to members, I can't open it anymore.
  13. I have been searching for this one cache for 2 weeks now, deciding that it was not going to get the best of me. I have DNF'd it twice already because there are just way too many muggles in the daylight, so I went back last night and searched till I gave up and quit for the 3rd time. Just now, I went to the web site to log my 3rd DNF and it says it is now only available to members. This kind of stinks because I was not ready to give up all together and was going to re-check my coords, but I guess the owner decided differently for me.
  14. My 11 yr old son and myself made 7 finds out of 8 attempts today. While at one location, we were searching through some low shrubbery. My son was 8-10 feet away from me and found the small container inside a hollow log which was placed underneath the shrubbery. At about the same time while I was searching just down from him, I found a loose $5.00 bill that had blown into the bushes. Great day of caching and made money to boot...!!
  15. My response is: I just think he has done something right and is lucky to just have them published!!..... We placed our first 3 caches out 5 days ago and STILL waiting for them to be approved and published.
  16. Unit has been sold on EBAY. Thanks for looking.
  17. Bystanders, landowners or Law Enforcement, just mention that things were kind of fuzzy when you buried that last body, but it should be right around here somewhere.........

  19. Got a pic of the GPS where the camo paint is worn. This is the only thing the matter with this unit. My son really needs to sell this..........Offers over $50 will be entertained but will not include actual shipping costs. camo gps camo GPS 2
  20. I've needed a camera for a long time and just got back from Best Buy with a new Digital camera. While at it, I also bought 8 new NiMH "AA" batteries and a 1 hr charger. It says these last 4x longer than regular alkaline batteries and also have 2500MaH printed on the sides......I guess this is the power level or something. Anyways, got to thinking. If they last longer in a camera, will they also work and last longer in my Legend C and Legend GPS units too? Thanks.
  21. I see there are several caches in my area that are on the search page which requires you to be a subscriber member in order to view them. Are these cache's any better than the general sites that just anybody can view and go to? By this I mean, If I spend the extra bucks to become a subscriber/member, are the trade items going to be any better than your common everyday broken mickey D toy, paperclip or other junk found in regular cache's?
