  1. I almost prefer non-trackable to trackable coins. I feel if you make a personal coin it should be just that. A personal coin. Not one made for profit. If you sell it then it loses a lot of it's 'personal' meaning. My personal coins aren't trackable and aren't for sale but I still have many people willing to trade for them. As has been said above, if you want a personal coin then make it your own coin. Don't worry about trackability unless your planning on selling it. In which case it isn't really a personal coin is it?
  2. I would like 1 brass. Any idea on cost including shipping to Canada?
  3. Thats a great looking coin. Hope I have something you want to trade for.
  4. Wellsince no one seems to want to answer this one I'll pass it on to Gross Famille for another question. For reference the North Magnetic Pole was located at about N81.3 W110.8 in 2001 The only reason I know this is that i recently put together a quiz on geocaching and that was one of the questions.
  5. Well people are getting closer. According to the survey it has been moving NW at about 40k a year and could be in Alaska or even Russia within a few years. GrosseFamille is the closest so far.
  6. I have just over 500 in my collection but only 4 of them have ever been activated. Of those 3 are travelling and the last one was activated by mistake. I'm not sure I'll ever activate the ones in my collection.
  7. Ok I didn't have to wait for tonight to post this. As we all know the North Magnetic Pole (NMP) moves a little bit each year and is presently located in northern Canada. The Geological Survey of Canada keeps track of this motion by periodically carrying out magnetic surveys to redetermine the Pole's location The last survey (at least that I can find a record of) was done in 2001. What were the coords of the NMP at that time? And as a bonus. What were the estimated coords in 2005??
  8. Hmmm I'll do a bit of thinking at work and come up with something tonight.
  9. If I order a couple is there any possibility of slipping them in with my own coins to save on shipping? Or if I get them picked up?
  10. Hmmmmmmm and I have the 2 closest caches within walking distance of the airport. Maybe the geocoin fairy will make it to one of them some day.
  11. I don't think I've ever seen one of my coins on ebay. But then I don't check there that often. Can't imagine it would go for too much though.
  12. I wonder if the geocoin fairy is making her way up to Canada any time soon??
  13. Ok Richard, When you going for it? Maybe I'll come along for the ride.
  14. I will put about 1/3 of my personal coins in caches once I have them in hand. The last ones I made up ended up with about 40 out 150 going to caches.
  15. I usually just go for one version of a coin. Especially if the only difference is in the metal. An LE doesn't mean much to me except for it's trade value. I have several coins where I have found the regular version to be better looking than the LE. I guess it all depends on what you are going for. Admittedly I have a few coins where I have the LE version or versions. Sometimes I just can't resist if it has a good design, however I still end up trading them away sooner or later.
  16. I believe there is another one in BC. Bcrockcrawler has a personal in progress I believe. You can see a pic here.
  17. I can't say as I have ever taken my coins to an event. I just can't see any easy way to haul 4 big binders worth of metal and lay them out. Now I would take my traders to an event cuz I only have a few of them. Hmmmmmmmm maybe a binder with selected coins that I could switch around each time?
  18. Looking for Grays Harbor Lunenberg County Chippewa Valley Check my sig line for trades.
  19. Well my new coin is in production at last after much struggling over the design. (I'm not an artist by any means) Hopefully I'll have them in hand about the end of the month or so barring any problems. I'm also planning on a trip down to Kentucky in September so if you live somewhere between Alberta and Kentucky you might be able to find one in a cache. As with my last one this will be a run of 150 coins, none of which will be sold, they will be split between caches and trades. For trades I'm especially looking for other personal coins that are only for trade. Anyone??
  20. I like that idea. If anyone has one of mine they don't want, feel free to trade it back to me. I didn't sell any so I can't see it being worth much but ya never know.
  21. I'm with you. So far they have all been down east and south. It would be nice to have one up in the northwest for a change.
  22. I would hazard a guess and say the Phonecians were probably the first great trading culture. I believe somewhere around 3500 BC in Greece. For a real look at the history of navigation. Check this.
