  1. What they said! Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  2. Gimpys Viper is all gassed up & about ready to go. I plan on being at the Byrncliff get-together, so should I just bring the winning entry along, or send it ahead beforehand? Looking forward to the competition & seeing the Cannonball Run unfold. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  3. Caught this in the news today. Wonder how good they'll be. Cobra .Should be interesting. 3 different models from $149.95 to $249.95. On the surface, looks like they'll be geared more toward road navigation. Scroll to Jan. 9th, press release. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life. 4. Welcome back, opey one. Thought it had been a while since I've seen the smokin' feline. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  5. I still get all mine from cheaperthandirt.com. Here .30 cal. are still $19.95 for a 6 pack,(about $3.33/pc.) & .50 ca. are still $3.99/pc. And doesn't look like they'll run out real soon. Right now, they have 20,258 of the 50s in stock. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Treasure Hunters Inc.:I was saying earlier today when I first heard of the tragedy that it might be helpful to NASA if local cachers could provide the lat/lon of the pieces of debris so that when they were removed from where they fell they would have accurate data of exactly where each piece landed and a very accurate picture of the distribution of the debris. Off one of the news services: ------------------------------------------ Debris also fell in western Louisiana, including a smoldering bundle of wires in a Shreveport front yard and pieces that reportedly dropped into Toledo Bend Reservoir on the Texas line, threatening water supplies. "I heard the piece coming down through the air. It sounded like it was fluttering," said Elbie Bradley, 69, who was fishing on the reservoir. One of the pieces that fell into the reservoir was the size of a compact car, said Sheriff Tom Maddox. ---------------------------------------------- It was stated on the news on TV, that the fishermen had a portable GPS receiver, & boated over to the area where the piece went into the water, & set a waypoint to get the co-ordinates. They passed the numbers on to the authorities, who went to the area with sonar equipment, & sure enough, somethings there. The reservoir is apparently about 50 miles long, & right along the path of the debris field. What a tragedy. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  7. E-mail should arrive shortly. I choose to use Plucker, but originally had it set up on Avantgo with my Clie' T665C, & works OK there as well. I'll explain how via e-mail, as to not go back & forth here, & clutter up the thread. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  8. The V is a great all around unit. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  9. Anybody give this one a shot yet. 3.01 Changes made from version 2.09 to 3.01 Beta: Increased the active track log to 10,000 points. Increased each saved track log to 750 points. Increased user waypoints to 1,000 waypoints. Improved various translations. Added EOV Hungarian and South African grid support. Added functionality to start, stop, or resume navigation from the route detail page's option menu. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  10. One of the many really nice features of the Street Pilot, is the data card. If I, like you, were heading to another country for a period of time, I'd play it safe & get a second data card, & load City Navigator on one, & Metroguide on the other. Sure can't go wrong with that combination. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.

Yesterday, while I was sitting around averaging coords for my relocated cache he, without being asked, trashed out the cache location. He filled up a tall garbage bag there and on the way back. Then he even sorted out the recyclables before throwing away the trash. Atta-Boy Alex. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  12. Well, if you're unemployed, & the Legend purchase has to come out of the wifes paycheck, she MIGHT have a point. But otherwise, the fact that you want it is all the justification you need. Unless your finances are such that you're on a steady diet of mac & cheese. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.

Thanks! Hey,gnawbone. Check out this thread for a little more info. Topo Or do a search for "Topo" with the forum search feature, & you'll get a whole lot of info. Hope this helps. 17. Very nice, Lil Devil. I've been running some stuff on Avantgo for a while now, but decided to go with Plucker for your GPX Spinner. Works fantastic. Spun my Pocket query under it's file name from GC.com, & for some reason, it synched into my Clie' under another totally unrelated file name, but it's all there & runs flawlessly. I've never run Plucker before, so I'll have to get used to it & get my preferences set, but a definite improvement over mobipocket. Thanks for all your work & sharing it with us. 18. Thanks folks. Made the purchase & all works great. This stuff is fantastic. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  19. Hey, Jack. Did you copy the right e-mail? I got 2 messages when I placed my order. Make sure you copy the one with your order number in it. I followed the instructions, & all went fine. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  20. Instead of open from location, choose save to disk. I usually just save the file to the desktop & open from there. Works problem free every time. Hope this helps. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Team GeoDillo:If you have a pocket query set up to send you a GPX file, the next time you go to that Pocket Query Generator page to make a change to that specific query, it defaults back to .LOC file. Same thing happens with me. Any time I open the Query, it shows the file choice as .LOC. If I edit the Query at all, I just make sure I change it back to GPX before I hit edit. 22. quote:Originally posted by TopoGrafix:Have you tried the free demo of http://www.expertgps.com? I've got just about everything that Mapsource has available for loading into my Garmins. Roads & Recreation,Topo,Metroguide(3.0 & 4.01),City Select (4.0 & 4.01).Have, along the way, purchased about everything that DeLorme has made available. Streets 8, Street Atlas Deluxe, Topo 3.0 & topo 4.0. And have the North East region of Maptech Terrain Navigator, which I think is an excellent mapping product. All 17 CDs'. All that being said, Expert GPS appears to be a real, easy to use, seamless application, especially for Geocaching purposes. It doesn't seem to get any easier than that, when it comes to waypoint management, routes & tracks, etc. I've downloaded the trial version, & just curious to know. If I purchase it, do the Topografix logos, that appear in the middle of the map views, go away? They always seem to be located right in the spot I'm trying to view map detail. And do those of you that have Expert GPS & other mapping programs, find that you use Expert more often? I'm not crazy about the idea of pumping more cash into additional mapping products, but seems to me that Expert, & it's direct association to Geocaching.com, make for a great combination. Any thoughts? Thanks. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  23. Noticed something strange today, that after I thought about it, probably makes sense. Headed out after a 2 parter, where the co-ordinates for the second part, were in the log book of the cache that is part 1. After logging part 1, I went into the PDA Pocket Query to get the info for part 2. Part 2 did not exist in the Query. Even though part 2 has its own GC number. After getting home, I went to the site, & sure enough, part 1 & 2 each have a cache page of their own. The only thing I can figure, is that because the listed cache page co-ordinates for each cache, are the co-ordinates for part 1, that part 2 doesn't get recognized. What it did with the GC number, is part 1 is GC9E89, & it assigned part 2, GC9E8A. Part 2 didn't come through on the GPX file or the PRC file, even though it has its own cache page. So I'm guessing that 2 caches with the same co-ordinates won't fly, but just in the Queries. Anybody else ever run into this? So if this is true, then when placing a 2 part cache of this nature, the listed co-ordinates for the second cache should be off by 1 number, with an explanation. Or have the info for both caches (except co-ordinates for part 2), on the part 1 cache page. Hope this made sense. First time since the Pocket Queries came out, that I wish I had printed the pages. 24. quote:Originally posted by Olar: Gimpy there are two things that must be done. First the gpx file opened by Watcher must be one that has been downloaded by a pocket query and not one that has been created by EasyGPS from a .loc file. Secondly you need the latest version of EasyGPS to read the downloaded .gpx file properly. Hope this helps, Olar _"You are only young once but you can stay immature forever"_ Thanks, Olar. Latest version of EasyGPS did the trick. Works great now. I knew I was missing something. Monday is an awful way to spend 1/7th of your life.
  25. Been trying to figure that one out myself, george. It's great for quick viewing info thru Clayjars very nice app., but my 200 cache loc file turns into a 76 cache gpx file. Something gets lost in the shuffle somewhere. Being able to get the different icons is nice, but I'd rather have the additional 124 caches. I must be missing something.
