Huh. I presently use the Raovac PS3, just for charging my batch of Rayovac rechargeable alkalines, & I use the Panasonic BQ-345A just for charging my batch of Panasonic 1600mAh Ni-MHs'. After reading the posts here, & reading the warning on the PS3,it appears I can use the PS3 to charge both. Does this sound right? I have had no problem with either charger. But nice that the PS3 holds 8 aa batts., compared to the 4 in the BQ-345A.The BQ-345A is a very convenient size for taking along when on a trip, etc. I'll have to do some research on the PS3 to make sure it's ok to put the Ni-MHs' in it, but any thoughts from you fine folks would be appreciated. Thanks Gary "Gimpy" Strong

To buy or not to buy? (Garmin GPSes, used vs. new)
Gimpy replied to trippy1976's topic in GPS technology and devices
The larger screen on the III Plus is easier on the eyes, & although you'll get many responses that disagree, the antenna design on the III Plus will hold a lock on satellites much better when in heavily wooded areas.I have a III Plus & had an eTrex Vista & when I took the 2 side by side into areas with heavy overhead cover, often times the Vista would lose satellite lock while the III Plus held lock no problem. The patch antenna design just didn't seem to be able to keep up. Gary "Gimpy" Strong -

quote:For whatever it's worth, this doesn't seem to work on Netscape 4.7x for Windoze. I know, I know, get a new browser... I'm running Netscape 4.7 for windows & all works great. 98 SE op. sys. I tried Netscape 6.1 & it is almost as bad as IE 6.0. I've been running 6.0 for quite a while & got totally fed up with problems I've been having with their Java fiasco. Half the pages I went to, I'd get some "object expected" error all over the place that would not allow viewing cetrain pics. or files. Thinking about going over to Opera. But no real problems here with 4.7. Gary "Gimpy" Strong

Does the yellow eTrex accept mapping software? Or are you just referring to software to print out maps? I had the eTrex Vista, & as all you could load into the unit was Mapsource, that's what I used. I was under the impression that yellow was not capable of loading mapping stuff into it. I have used DeLorme Topo for printing out paper maps,& although there's better out there, it worked out OK for me. Gary "Gimpy" Strong

Is there a listing of members only caches somewhere?
Gimpy replied to PocketPCGuy's topic in General geocaching topics
Thanks RDW. Works OK. As far as anything ditinguishing a members only cache from others, the only thing I see, is on the cache search page, there is an icon next to members only caches. Gary "Gimpy Strong -

I clicked on Choberibas' link & got access to the cache page & info no problem. But on all the links Gustaf has put up, it says I have to activate my subscription to view the info. Verifies up top that I'm logged in. Gary "Gimpy Strong -

Do you have/will you get a Charter Membership?

I don't care if this move brings in $500,000.00 a year. Not my business. If Jeremy could devote all of his time here (as opposed to the countless hours he already has), it could only be a benefit to all of us. No matter what the dollar figure, it's still only going to cost me a scant 30 bucks a year to be an active member in what has become my favorite pastime. I got my membership immediatly after reading the first hint of it. Best 30 bucks I've spent all year. Keep it up, Jeremy.Thank you for all you've done. Gary "Gimpy Strong -

Hi Ringbone. I usually try to put in items that a hiker or camper might use along with a few trinkets for kids. Things like compasses, emergency whistles, handwarmers(winter caches), gps batteries & things of that nature. They don't have to be expensive, but useful is nice. Flashlights are also nice, for that adventurous cacher that goes after the tough one just before the sun sets & finds himself/herself in the dark. A few simple kid items works out nice for the caching family. Hope this helps. Gary "Gimpy Strong

I'm with you, Choberiba. This has gotten beyond pathetic. Never thought I'd see the day that these forums resembled this. Pretty sad. Gary "Gimpy Strong
