  1. Arisoft and Moun10bike both make valid points and perhaps their idea of the attribute is what GS intended. The issue is that it's not explained that way anywhere as far as I can see. This leaves it open to people's interpretation which is all across the board. The cachers also don't know what my interpretation might be. I think it will be easier for me to avoid the attribute until there is some kind of change made and I will focus on using the hint more effectively by saying hanging, NWF, or WF.
  2. Edit: I originally posted this in my local geocaching forums and was encouraged to post it here. This is my exact post and I didn't change anything when posting it here. Here goes: --------------------------------- I think will discontinue the use of the attribute with the picture of a snowflake on all of my future hides. I am tired of it being misinterpreted. On a recent hide of mine a new scenario has developed in regards to the interpretation of the snowflake icon. Here are the three scenarios, with the first being the original meaning, the second being the most common use, and number three being the newest interpretation. 1. A hide which doesn't have to be put away in the winter and disabled due to it being fragile or undesirable to find in winter time. 2. A hide that is usually hanging and is found above the snow line so that it can most often be easily found in winter without digging down into the snow. 3. A hide which is above the snow line and won't be unsafe at GZ where your footing on ice or snow is concerned. Geocaching dot com could easily fix the problem. There has always been confusion between number one and number two. On a side note, I really like how you don't have to adjust the country and province settings when setting up a new geocache. Great addition. Cheers and happy new year!
  3. I meant to say: I'm am looking for an app where I can input these two coordinates and be given the coordinates of the exact half way point in between these two given coordinates. Thanks.
  4. My apologies if this has been covered in another thread. I didn't see one. I have two different coordinates and they are 1.2km from each other. I'm am looking for an app where I can input these two coordinates and be given the coordinates of the exact half way point I'm between these two given coordinates. Thanks in advance if you have any ideas. GPS visualizer and boulter are what I've used for other tools but neither have this feature I'm looking for as far as I can tell. Cheers and thanks!
  5. This thread started June 6th and almost two weeks later less than two dozen people have expressed an opinion. It could be that very few people have noticed this thread, or maybe nobody really wants the distinct caches count brought back. I'd personally like to see it brought back but with so few supporters in this thread it doesn't look promising. I know I can get the info elsewhere but it was convenient to see that info when I opened up my stats page. I agree with an earlier comment that it would be even better if there was a duplicate logs count instead.
  6. Thanks for the quick reply!
  7. When I click on "Your profile > Quick View", my finds and hides totals show up on the right hand side of the page under my avatar pic and above my Stats Bar. My finds say 1973. When I click on "Your profile > Geocaches", and then click "Found it", it brings up "Your Geocaching Logs (Filtered by Log Type)". Directly under Your Geocaching Logs (Filtered by Log Type)", it gives me a find total of 1963. My distinct caches finds are exact. (You've found 1973 caches (1973 distinct) since your first cache find on 26 Dec 12.) When I copied the 1963 caches under the "Found it" logs and pasted them into an online tool that numbered the total lines pasted it came to 1963. My milestones caches are off too. The milestones are fine until the 300th find which is wrong. I would guess that a lot of cachers end up with their milestones being out of proper order because geocaching.com has given users the ability to reset and lock any GC code to any milestone that they choose. I did have a few double posts that I had to delete a few months back but I am not sure if I had ten of them. When you delete a found it log, does the smiley remain? Any idea why my total number is off by ten caches, and is it because I have deleted found it logs?
  8. I can understand that you want to get big numbers. Some cachers want big numbers and there is nothing wrong with that. If they want to do that it is their own business. Good for them. I have been caching for 13 months and I have 1973 finds. 1000 finds in one year is very possible, but there is no point in making a goal like that if you are going to get upset when it doesn't happen. You also should not let caching become a chore in trying to achieve that goal. I found 1829 caches in 2013, only because I am enjoying being outside caching a lot and that is what I happened to end up with as a total. I am also doing a streak right now and with all the snow we've been getting it makes it difficult. I am not willing to let this streak become a chore and if there comes a day that it is too rainy, or too snowy, I will forget about the streak and let it go. Only you can decide what goals to make. My advice is not to let caching become a burden just to reach a goal. That is when it wont be fun anymore, and the idea is for caching to be fun.
