  1. After myself and my girl friend Black_Cat met and became friends with fluffy&itchy during her Arizona visit, I would be honored if I could adopt some of your geocoins. My well wishes go out to you!!!
  2. Whhhhhaaaaatttttsss uuuuuppppp!!!!! Jest a test
  3. Trekking poles are great if you are out backpacking with a fully loaded pack. That said, they really do save your knees! I find they just get in the way if I am out doing lightly packed day hikes. Flat hikes, they are a waste of time. However, since this is a geocaching forum. I cache in the desert Southwest. If I'm going to any cache where I can't drive right to it, I take my trekking poles. The exception is searching in bushes, I use my pole for that kind of search. The poles are great for prodding places I shouldn't be putting my hands. There are too many things down here where if they bite you, they kill you (or just ruin a great day of caching).
  4. It was originally a trade item, but now it's a travel bug ... the OCB: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...7d-af34f21bf119 Team360 puts on a great show when he brings it to events. BTW, he's also a great guy!
  5. To all of you Garmin users, looks like they have just released a new software update from 3.10 to 3.20. It does look like a big update (including a Day light savings patch). I am sure this is a must have for us Garmin users. Changes made from version 3.10 to 3.20: * Updated daylight saving time dates. * Add capability for 2 wide data fields on map, compass, and highway pages. * Add capability for 1 wide data field on map page. * Added data card information page. * Add selectable alarms for proximity waypoints and custom POI. * Improve labeling and scanning of custom POI on the map page. * Address issue where custom POI finder would erroneously produce no results. * Add capability to see vertical profile of an autoroute using DEM topo data. * Fixed issue with incorrect dates showing when editing the date field for Sun & Moon page and Hunt & Fish page. * Fix issue where invalid find menu options could show when using the Auto Order feature. * Fix issue with the Swiss grid providing incorrect coordinates. * Fix issue where route names would be converted to upper case during editing. * Update data card driver to support SD version 2 cards. * Corrected problem with NMEA input that could corrupt Waypoint names in WPL sentences.
  6. This is how the officer responded to me when I told him about caching. The funniest part about my meeting was I was just talking about this very subject with another cacher the day before.
  7. I had a fun thing happen to me today. I had to explain what Geocaching is all about to two Scottsdale Arizona police officers with hands on their guns. Turns out the park, where the cache was hidden, has had a problem with someone showing body parts to women without their consent. As you can guess, the police officers had a hard time understanding why I was standing behind a tree with a GPSr in my hand. The best part of it was when one officer kept asking me "What is purpose of Geocaching". I kept telling him "I am looking for Tupperware with a piece of paper in it. After I find the tupperware container, I look for some paper in that container so I can put my signature on it". What is your most "exciting" police related adventure?
  8. I prefer the silver and gold coins. When will they go on sale and how much will they be?
  9. I might also purchase one of each, but plan to wait to see what the price will be. I'll monitor this thread and let you know my final decision.
  10. True, all I can say is "Wow"! I look forward to receiving the three I ordered.
  11. Dipped my "Last Chance For Help !!!" coin into your cache. I pass this quarter through caches I would consider as being creative, exciting, or just those that left an impression on me. Good Job!
  12. E-mail sent, order three gold. Very good job on the coin!
  13. I have sent an e-mail to you requesting 3 coins. Check your inbox.
  14. I am typing this message as I ready to stand back from the FLAMES. People have talked about drilling a coin. However, I have heard of people photocopying the coin's front - back and releasing the photocopied coin as a traveler. What are the group's thoughts on this practice? Is this allowed?
  15. Leave your cache in the open, unprotected by stealth and you will find out very soon.
  16. Here are some public domain geocaching logos: http://bytethebullet.com/geologo/
  17. I found this Travel Bug which disappered for two years over in Japan. It reappered in Oregon.
  18. This is so true. The only place I had ever cached was in the desert Southwest (Arizona). Down here it's nothing but sand, rocks, and cactus. Its very hard to look for previously left foot prints. I recently went back to the Northwest to visit friends and, of course, do some geocaching. I hunted for several Micros which where in heavy vegetated areas where you could almost follow a trail right to the cache. This was very true on the more popular caches.
  19. I only used Google Earth (+ the Geocaching plug-in) to find a complete list of caches in an area where I'll be caching. I hate it when you find a cache and later find out there was another cache just around the block or up the trail a little further.
  20. After taking a few liberties, I thought it fit best to the hunt we all go through to find a that elusive micro cache.
  21. I knows this isn't a trade item, but the best thing I ever found in a cache was the first cache log I ever signed. To find the cache and "leave my mark on the cache" was a really great feeling. Looking back, it was an easy cache to find, but to me at that moment I couldn't believe I had found this booty with this brand new GPSr thing. That is what hooked me to on this whole, dare I say, life style.
  22. You must do it like this? Thank you The Leprechauns, this is very coooool!!!!
