  1. How I "work around" this is to do a ctrl-f for find and then type in the state I am looking for. Narrows it down a bit but still.....
  2. I travel to the area fairly often. If the coords are within 500 miles of west point utah, I'd be happy to look at having it published. Let me know.
  3. Thank you to all who ordered the coins! I hope you have a Merry Caching Christmas
  4. 4 Different "Geode" Geocoins New - Trackable - Unactivated I have been geocaching now for over 9 years and finally decided to have coins made that represent my 2 favorite Hobbies: Geocaching and Rock Hounding. I have held geocaching events looking for geodes, trilobites, topaz, fossils, and petrified wood. Finding rocks and minerals is just as fun as finding geocaches or discovering trackables that have been placed into the wild. These geocoins are a great addition to any collection OR you can set them free into the wild to bring a little joy to others. These are sold out and very hard to find! I am asking $10 each and I also will consider trades. mailto:id10thero@yahoo.com Here is a link to a set that I sold on ebay so that you can see the pictures: http://www.ebay.com/...1610752483?rd=1 Here are the four: Amethyst Aquamarine Emerald Yellow Topaz
  5. What I have resorted to do currently if I am looking for specific caches is to use googles advanced search option. I have been able to find what I want but this also is cumbersome (having to dl each gpx file separately and cannot restrict to a specific locale). At least it is another option until GS can rework the search functionality. I would hope GS would take this as a constructive critic.
  6. There is only really one variance on the separation distance that I would like to see changed and that involves multi and puzzle caches. I have had newly placed caches rejected because a leg of a multi or puzzle cache was within the separation minimum. Some of the caches started miles away and only until I submitted did we find out that a physical leg was too close. For subsequent legs of multi or puzzle caches at least change the distance allowed of other caches to be about 100 - 150 feet. Just my 2 cents worth - hey, wait am I getting short changed? []
  7. One of the best things about geocaching is that there are multiple ways that it can be played. Depending on my goals at the moment, I might challenge myself or a friend to see how many micros we can find in an area for a certain amount of time; race to a first to find; attend an event; or go and check out a fantastic area because fellow geocachers have recommended it. Virtuals for me in National Parks were the best. Here are places that just scream to be discovered. It is my choice really how I want to "play". I do feel it was a loss when gc no longer permited new virtuals to be created. Yes I personally feel that if a container/log could be placed then it doesn't need to be a virtual. I don't know how many virtuals I did not log because by the time I could email the CO the additional logging requirements I had misplace/forgotten/lost the information. The key issue was that I was there whether I logged it or not. Because Geocaching relies on us to basically make the whole thing possible it would be nice to see new virtuals allowed in places that do not allow actual containers and logs. I have found the Wherigo cartridges more frustrating than a nano hidden in a grove of trees but because of its infancy I am willing to give it time to mature. Is there a place for virtuals? I think that this could easily be answered yes. Is the system perfect? Heavens no and thank goodness it is flexible enough to allow us to make it better. Eliminating the option for new virtuals I feel is myopic. Bring them back but only for areas that do not allow logs and make it easier to provide the CO with the ALR's i.e. an additional text box that is emails the info to the CO once the find is posted. So again, my vote is to bring them back but only for places that an actual log is not permitted. One man's trash is another geocacher's cache container/swag.
