  1. I am in Florida, USA, and I have not gotten any geocaching emails since yesterday as well. Friends in Alabama, Mississippi, and New York are all reporting the same thing.
  2. This, to me, is such a valuable tool when hiding my own caches! Thanks for the heads up on the app. I have seen it before on the play store, but never tried it out.
  3. lol. Okay with me. It's a nice discussion, and no one is currently being a bung hole. On topic: I'm going to upgrade my phone first and see how that does. Then possibly look into a used handheld that has what I want. Back off topic in relation to apps: I really miss cachesense. Hands down the best geocaching app ever. It had an easy way to get coords if needed, and to me, the best feature ever: a saturation layer to help when determining proximity issues when placing new hides.
  4. I somehow never noticed this on the official app. Learn something new every day.
  5. Yeah. I had just gotten spoiled with my Dakota 20. It did everything I wanted and had a color touchscreen. Price I got it for was unbeatable. It's a Galaxy S6. Not super outdated, but I've been tough on it. That's a story for a different time. lol Just searched up some. Some never updated. Some with bad reviews. Once it stops storming here, I'm going to check a few out and see how they work for me. Will check this out. Thanks for the suggestion.
  6. Not everyone has an unlimited budget. Saw one this morning, but it looked like it had been through the ringer. I have not. Any good suggestions for Android ones? Definitely okay with looking into that avenue. Then my phone is ready to be replaced, too. It's definitely not that accurate. lol
  7. I definitely use my phone for finding caches. I just don't seem to get the accuracy I like out of my phone for actually placing my hides.
  8. Like an absolute dope, I walked off and left my GPS on a bench a few months ago. Went back to see if it was still there. Of course it wasn't. My fault...still #feelsbadman. The whole thing soured me on placing caches for awhile, but I'm getting the itch again. I absolutely loved my unit i lost. It was a Garmin Dakota 20. They have now discontinued this model. What are some good suggestions for a new handheld that won't break the bank? Preferably touchscreen and color. I'd ideally like to stay under $250-ish since apparently I like to lose them . lol I made a cursory look around Amazon a bit ago but everything was either way out of that price range or just not to my liking in one way or another. TIA!
  9. Oh yeah. That's true. And seriously aggravating to say the least. But, it's at least there at all.
  10. Click this button in the upper right of the new map. Just below your geocaching name. That should revert the map back to the old version.
  11. I don't have much to add to this, other than the new map update is 100% legit terrible in my opinion.
  12. I have a 30 second, "Undo," thingie set up on my emails for those times!
  13. My kiddo and I literally just laughed out loud, and we have proclaimed an, 'ohnosecond,' a new part of our vocabulary!
  14. I've adopted a few. There is a local cacher who is the king of adopting caches. I believe he has adopted somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 in all of his caching years. And he takes fantastic care of them all!
  15. This is just me...but...if it's an active cacher's hide; I'll do what I can to help them out(they'd do the same for me). If it's someone who hasn't logged into the game in years, and their caches are just sitting there rotting; I'll just leave them as I found them, and log a NM; hoping they'll eventually get archived to open space up for someone who is actually active.
  16. The day before yesterday(I believe), I found a heavily used crack pipe about 4 foot from a nano cache in a guardrail. This was way out in the boonies; so I'm thinking someone got stopped by the popo and stashed it there to pick up later. It was hidden in a manner where you could tell someone was going to claim it. Did I leave it there? Did I crush it up and throw it away? Or did I take it for personal use? Hint: It wasn't the 3rd option.
  17. I got my World Turtle yesterday! My situation is a little different. When I first heard about the promotion, I had no real interest in it. Until I saw the World Turtle as the final souvenir. It appeared, to me, very Terry Pratchett inspired. Big fan here. That, coupled with the fact that I have lost 70 pounds in the last 7 months, therefore affording myself much more physical stamina; spurred me to make it a goal. I never, ever, achieve any goals that I set for myself. Especially physical ones. I was determined to not let myself down this time. Yes, this promotion absolutely changed the way I cached for the last 27 days. There's no doubt about it at all. But I learned a lot about myself in these last few weeks as well. I am very proud for once in my life. There were days when I just didn't want to go out. But I did. I broke my personal daily best amount of caches found, twice. The Real Feel temps here have been around 110° F lately. Even with enough water, I found myself on the verge of passing out a few times. Yet, I persisted. This weekend, an old hairline fracture in my right foot wanted to act up. I pushed through it. Yesterday, my last 14 caches I needed, really made me work for it. More DNF's in one day than I can ever recall. Yet, I kept on. Goal accomplished! Dear Diary and all that.......
  18. 41 of 100 now. Hope to be in the 70's by the weekend.
  19. All it takes is one slip of the finger. <---famous last words, huh? lol I have discovered errors in puzzles(both large & small). The CO's have always been very appreciative of my reaching out to them. After a pretty big bungle on one of my own puzzles(luckily I had someone helping me); I now have a fellow cacher, and a different non-cacher, test all of my puzzles for me. That does not 100% eliminate problems, though...if my testers make the same mistakes that I do! I try really hard to get them right before publication, though. We are all human. Mistakes happen. This is a game.
  20. I am definitely close. I feel I'm right on the verge of the, "a ha!" moment.
  21. @Korichnovui - If you're still looking for help; I'd be glad to offer assistance.
  22. Why, oh why, did I have to look!? I would get in touch with GS about this. They would probably be willing to remove this specific one for you...or at least I would hope so!
