  1. I'll be ordering around 120 metal and 50-100 wooden.
  2. I wouldn't do it. I don't care myself, but also some people use them as FTF prizes. So it is the finders coin, not the person that bought it.
  3. I agree with you, but they will sell a ton of them. My stepson has CF and there are CF braclets that my wife sells to support the charity. I refuse to even wear those. I don't like the fact that people are ripping off Lance's idea.
  4. Not at all - not sure where that comment came from. We will be ordering an initial batch of between 300-500 - gauged on previous interest and 99.9% of the commentators have put in a request for coins. After the initial batch the design may well change as discussed at length before (please, please don't start offering ideas for new designs at this stage - this is a LONG way off). All this has been costed in to the cost of the initial batch. Any profit will go into future designs and any surplus will be donated to charity. I'm part of a group that will be order 100 of them.
  5. Are you going to take orders and then have the coin made or have it made and then place orders. Only reason I ask is I assumed that because you already have the website up that you were going to be selling actual coins and not preorders, in which case it would help to know how many people will buy. But I could be all wrong.
  6. I like the idea of leaving the color off the backside of the coin. I think that the miner will look better without attempting to get fleshtones and such. </twocents> I agree with this and think the other colours sound good.
  7. Thank you! The other thing I think some people don't ever think about is new cachers starting up. How frustrarting can it be for folks that found a bunch of caches in their first month and would really like the experience of having their own? Sure you can say obviously there are still places because caches are still being places. But mostly you all know that main parks are all taken up all the more mello hiking trails that are close are covered too. I think it would be a good thing for more people to say "That's a great place for a cache, I hope to find one there some day."
  8. Yes, please don't use travelertags. You only here good things from the people that get the free or cheap numbers. People that aren't familiar with them complain often about how hard it is to log coins on their site and their lack of customer service. I do understand people wanted a cheaper coin the first time around, and there isn't really any reason those can't still be minted. At $3 people throw those in caches all the time. But we're also ready for a higher end coin as well. I think the colour on one side and just a plain metal design on the other will look sweet. I would caution about trying to get a $3 or $4 colour coin. Having seen many coins, there is a difference in quality with the cheaper companies. They aren't aweful, but there is a difference in the detail work and crispness of edges. I wouldn't go with coins and pins for example.
  9. You're looking at a minimum of 50 coins I think and that's at the companies that don't have the best quality. You can order Michigan ones here. Texas coins here.
  10. Insert obligatory poke in the ribs for getting that Colorado coin done.
  11. Alright, take it outside! I was thinking exactly the same thing. Why would anyone log a coin you didn't even get to see? I guess at least they don't count in your finds.
  12. But I thought a colour coin had been requested/suggested by several people. We all know that it adds to the cost. Maybe there needs to be a vote on this issue before the design goes to a coin maker.
  13. Ya, I'm here. Just to say leave it to the locals to decide if they want a coin or not.
  14. HA! I just asked him the same thing in chat. Whistles aren't in yet.
  15. I have had similar experiences with travelertags and get frustrated every time someone picks their site to use. Very unuser-friendly. You can look here, I don't know if he's ready for non-groups yet.
  16. Oh man, so are those of us that already swapped for Georgia coins hosed?
  17. Perfect. Just throw your hands up and say "it's not my fault". Those are they types of people we need approving.

  19. I'm watching, but nothing happens. Going to need to hop a plane for me to touch it.
  20. Hey, ignoring the guidelines. Always someone in the crowd.
  21. I say keep the highway sign and bridge. These are things that people from outside of the state can relate with California.
  22. I'm in the same town and didn't get 'em. Hey Nazgul, you sure I'm not the Dave those were addressed to?
