  1. Just make sure people are aware of that, since some of your seekers may just be traveling through your area. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  2. I would also remember that people of all different physical abilities participate in this sport. It should be in your cache decription if climbing will be involved. How frustrating would it be to hike to the cache, see it and not be able to get to it. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  3. Reading a logs on a cache here in Oregon there was a person who found vitamin E looking pills and a white pill in the bottom of the cache. They stopped their child before she ate one of the pills. Just a reminder that really anyone has access to these caches and anything could be inside of one. I think it is important to let kids look for them, but not open them. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  4. Someone suggsted going to white trash world, I mean Walmart and getting trading items in the camping section. I just got back from there and after dodging the large ladies in flip-flops and the kids with no shoes, I found some great deals in the camping section and it is back-to-school time so there are some good little trinkets in that area too. So if you're looking for some new crayons or a pocket knife so can just follow behind be from cache to cache. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  5. The only reson to log a bug found and not moved it to add a number to one of the stats on your page. If this is so important then we could log broken pencils found, spider webs hit in face with and number of bumps on arms and legs that itch the day after a cache. That will give people plenty of numbers to inflate. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  6. What's brown and sticky? Wait for it......a stick! HA! I kill me! ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.

  8. How do you use a signature line if you're talking off line? ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  9. We use a computer, GPS, Explorer and a digital camera to do geocaching. That's a bunch of allowance money. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  10. It looks like an Oregon geocoin will happen. We are starting to talk about design and figure the first batch of coins will cost around $4.50 each. I thought I'd meantion this again so if other people decide they are interested you can send me an email and get on the group email list. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  11. Along these lines, I am thinking of buying the yellow eTrex and on another form someone posted they were getting readings within 100feet and he searched from there. I'm using a palm pilot with a GPS companion and normally get to within 10 feet or better. Is 100 feet really the norm. with the eTrex? ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  12. Reading the other posts on this website I have seen many people state that they would rather have travel bugs moving short distances often than sitting in a cache waiting for someone that is going in a paticular direction to take it. It seems that T.B. tend to just roam around and then is they happen to be close to their goal then people start looking into getting them there. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  13. I use GeoNiche http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=85155120020715020057&prodID=41565. Just haven't been able to cough up the $25 to register yet, so the ad keeps popping-up asking for my $$$. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  14. We are new cachers here in Oregon. We aren't letting the heat slow us down because I'm guessing once the 9 months of rain start that will slow us down a bit. Right now we're using a palm with a GPS companion so we had a tough time the one day we were out in the rain. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.

  16. Bradtal, you let me know when you'll be out in Oregon and I'll place a special cache right on my front porch for one of your vases! ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.

  18. Thenk you Wander Lost, that's the impression I got from looking at them on the web. I really wanted a personal coin, but can afford the cost of buying 100 myself so I figure a state coin is a good alternative that other people could enjoy too. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  19. The link works if you knock off the .jpg part. I think the question is the two triangle have the same measurements, how can the volumes be different which is implied by the empty square. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.

  23. I sent an email yesterday to the folks above, but haven't gotten an answer. The two coins the sell now are for $5 + shipping. And you can go to their website to look at them. The other option is the company that Moun10bike uses. http://www.switchbacks.com/files/Moun10Bike_Coins.jpg I just talked to them and the short version is the total cost would be $4.50 per coin for the first 100 and then $3.75 after because of the set-up fee. That is using the geocaching logo and colour on Moun10bike's coin and designing our own non-colour side. If we want them numbered like Moun10bike's it would cost another .50 per coin. I thought if we went this way we could skip the numbering because it couldn't be tracked through geocaching.com. I was think of buying about 25 coins, so I need people to buy the other 75. Email me and I will contact those who are interested. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  24. I guess becuase I'm new I haven't read previous threads on these topics, but I have found out: 1) Many other people think it's too bad people throw junk into caches instead of just not trading. 2) Some other people also feel that the sport starts when you get out of your car. 3) Apparently there are many caches in parks yet still in public view. My concern being for the people that hide them having them stolen. 4) If you find my messages stressful you just shouldn't read them. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
  25. I just did, but I started here because I usually read the general forum and not the NW. ---I will stand out, I am a raven in the snow.
