  1. Just a thought... Has anybody noticed whether or not it makes a difference if the cache is a subscription only cache for paying members? I don't want geocaching to become a pay to play game and I'm not saying it should become that...but hopefully it would make a difference for those who want to have a higher quality of cache, if the cache was only open to people who paid for finding it...maybe...I dunno. I haven't been to any subscription only caches yet, but I'm anxious to try them out to see if they are better.
  2. For me it depends on how hard the cache is to find and what it is stocked with when I find it. Sometimes I just move stuff around from cache to cache and sometimes I trade for keeps. If I do trade to keep something I actually do leave something of at least equal value...otherwise I'd feel like a thief. I have a couple of items that I leave in almost every cache whether I take anything or not. I'm not afraid to leave things of some value, I'm just kinda selective on which caches get those items.

I couldn't help but put my $.02 in on this one...I have to agree that he seems a bit large. Very few of the cache containers I've seen would have room for him with all the other stuff inside them...but the goal sounds good.
  4. I haven't really found anything all that glamorous, but I did find a brand new fishing lure (still in the package) and I gave that to my Dad...not the "coolest" item I don't suppose, but useful. So far I haven't run into any caches with anything really exciting in them, but I enjoy the hunt regardless of the items anyway...so it's all good!
  5. I found a review of the Magellan SporTrak Pro on the web (it uses the quad helix antenna) and here is most of what they said about it's accuracy: "The Sportrak Pro GPS appears to represent a significant step forward in WAAS enhanced GPS position accuracy. In experiments the Pro was able to achieve 95% confidence accuracy of less than one meter on two out of the three tests we made in the open. It also achieved its specification accuracy of 3 meters 95% of the time under moderate tree cover on all tests. No other consumer handheld GPS we have reviewed has achieved this accuracy. Other tests show that this stationary accuracy is not achieved at the expense of position lag at highway speeds or in overshoot on sharp turns. We consider the Sportrak Pro to be the most accurate consumer GPS receiver that we have reviewed." Magellan SportTrak Pro review [This message was edited by GSP on July 28, 2002 at 01:45 AM.]
