  4. You can set the POI (and just about anything displayed) to be shown or not shown at different zoom levels. There is the over all map detail setting, but there is also a setting for each displayed item. When they are in AUTO, they take their que from the overall setting of map detail, but you can set them to show up at a praticular zoom level as well. For instance, here in Chicago I have the POI points set to turn on only at one of the very highest zoom levels, as there are so many here in the city that if they come on to soon they totally clutter the street information. By having them come on say, at a zoom of 300 feet they are at least spread out far enough you can see whats going on between them. Most of the time I will just set them to OFF anyway. WHat I really would love is a way to totally loose the POI data from the mapsource download, to make the file smaller, so I could fit more maps in the V.
  5. You think THATS interesting, you should see this 300 pound bear thats standing directly behind me...
  6. On the GPSMAP 76S, bring up the map setup menu, and look at the last tab marked "other" the last entry on that tab is "Lock to Roads" see if setting this ON helps any. -Centaur

  12. Remember, if you collect 100 Atta-boys, you can trade them in for a selection from our valuable and elegant gift catalog... However, one AW-$h17 wipes out all the atta-boys and you have to start over. So be careful. ps. Great job Alex!

And to BrownMule: RE: your comments about Markwell - WELL SAID! Makrwell - Keep on being you. At least until you get up here above 42 and come caching with us northsiders.

  22. Hows about a locationless cache of finding other cachers at a cache when you arrive there? or would that be a vertual? Since it has a location, just not the same one... Or a MULTI, since you could follow them around to other caches, or a.... I'll just shut up now.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Darkmoon:... it is not harming the building, it is already torn up from kids and such. Darkmoon I dont see a problem if you have permission. However, do we really want to associate geocaching with a building "torn up" by kids? Im not trashing the idea, I am just pondering the situation. True, Urban caches have a different flavor then rural caches, I just dont envision a torn up building as being much fun. I could be wrong. YMMV
