Don't worry about it. Actually, when I made the trade the other person had various Venetian Masks on offer, and I merely said I preferred the NL version, which more than likely is the one he sent me. But I'll only know once it gets here (it's been a while, but I definitely expect it to arrive this week). Anyway, just to say that my 'emotional attachment' to it is very relative! I won't activate the coin for now, so should you need the trade, just let me know. (Unless of course there's a curse on this coin and it always gets lost in the mail - I hope not, since it's part of what I believe to be the biggest trade I've ever done...).

I thought it would be fun to start a geocoin collection for my godson. He was born in January 2008 and of course I created a geocaching account for him the day he was born (account name: bruchino). Each coin is supposed to tell a piece of the story of his life. Currently his collection consists of the following coins: 1. "First Austrian Geocow Geocoin": bruchino's parents went on vacation to Austria about 9 months before he was born. 2. "Baby geocoin": the blue version of course 3. "Baby bottle geocoin": also blue 4. "GC&PC January 2008 geocoin": the month bruchino was born 5. The World's Best Dad Geocoin": bruchino is very fond of his dad! 6. "Cachepillar Geocoin": bruchino is a nickname his dad has given to him, and means 'small caterpillar' 7. "Summer Fun Pinwheel Geocoin": bruchino is fond of everything that spins and turns, including pinwheels. 8. "Quadcacher Geocoin": of course bruchino is fond of cars. And the purple color of this coin is the same color as his buggy. 9. "Nerd V2. Geocoin": I participated in the Nerd V2 group project and of course dedicated a coin to bruchino. 10. "Goudacat Geocoin": bruchino's family had a cat that looked exactly like the cat on this coin, Unfortunately she passed away this August. 11. "Annie M.G. Schmidt Geocoin": Annie Schmidt was a Dutch writer of children's books. Since I am Dutch myself, I try to share a bit of my culture with bruchino through her books. 12. I'll keep looking but still hoping that it will arrive in Germany I have one of these coins coming my way through a trade. My hope is that that package will get to me this week. I'd be happy to trade it to you if that helps you out. We can then do the trade when you've officially given up hope of your coin making it to Germany altogether (I've been reading that international packages to Grmany take a long time these days, so maybe there is still hope). I was interested in this coin because I live in Italy (re Venice) and I am actually from the Netherlands, so it combines the two countries nicely. But maybe I'll find another one sooner or later.

Toevallig bood er gisteren iemand (o.a.) de 2006 Poffertjescoin te koop aan op het Amerikaanse forum, dus hij is binnen! Nu nog alle LE's, plus de normale versie van 2009 En het zou echt leuk zijn als er voor het volgende (of daarop volgende?) event weer een coin komt. Misschien kan het draadje nu een ideeën-/ontwerpwedstrijd worden?

Dat zullen de creatievelingen met ontwerptalent zich vast geen twee keer laten zeggen! Ik ben helaas niet zo'n tekentalent, maar kan wel een beetje brainstormen: - een elektrische poffertjespan met ingebouwde LED als statuslampje (de PDA-coin heeft ook zo'n ingebouwde LED bijvoorbeeld) - een bus poedersuiker - zo'n poffertjesplaat waar heel veel poffertjes tegelijk op worden gebakken (rechthoekige ocin dus) - een pak poffertjesmix - ...

Hoi GeoGorkum, Bedankt voor de info! Als groot poffertjesfan, die helaas nog nooit op het event aanwezig heeft kunnen zijn, heb ik wel al een exemplaar van editie 2006, 2007 en 2008. Ik zoek nu een 2006 voor iemand anders. En natuurlijk wil ik zelf ooit nog graag een 2009 om mijn verzameling compleet te maken (nou ja, slechts 1 versie per jaar dan, maar dat is toch een goed begin). Ik had dus al wel een vermoeden dat ze allemaal uitverkocht zouden zijn. Eerlijk gezegd zie ik Karek Kraak pm'en niet zo zitten. Dus ik hoop vroeg of laat de coins te kunnen 'aftroggelen' van iemand die deze wil verkpen of ruilen Oh, enne, komt er ooit nog een nieuwe editie? En zo nee, is dat dan omdat het moeilijk is nog een nieuwe ontwerpvariant te verzinnen?

No surprise here. Just look at the vendor feedback thread pinned at the top of the forum. It's the same story every time. I'm still waiting for my full set of Caroussel horses, and that was not even e presale, but a trade (converted to a big one way present from me to them). And the point about tainted coins is very valid, at least to me. I associate coins with a lot of things, not in the least with the contact I have had with the people who produced or designed them, or traded/gifted/sold them to me. Some really nice coins I now consider very ugly, and some other maybe a bit 'plain' coins now look very pretty to me. By the way, most presales work like a charm. Again, look at the vendor history. if a vendor has done presale flawlessly 10 times, chances are the 11th time will work fine too.

I would put in a bit of red color for a Valentine version (but maybe that's too predictable?). And how about a glow-in-the-dark version? Seems appropriate for this 'night' coin. Oh, and I would produce a few new versions rather than remint the old ones. This way the old ones stay as 'rare' as they are and don't suffer from inflation, and the the new versions may also interest people who already own the old versions.
