  1. I pull the Google News Feed on my site Caching Adventures, I'm looking for a few more news feeds to pull, but you'll find some decent new stories there every few days. If it's video your looking for, there are almost 40 videos on Google Video.
  2. Since we often cache with a 3-year old the toy finds are great for him and leaving a few are inevitable. We often go to the thrift store and buy a bag of small toys (usually action figures or animals or something) to stock our bag. We try not to leave broken crappy toys, but good ones that other kids would enjoy finding. And we have been known to leave stuff even when there is nothing good to take. I personally don't trade items much except to try to move travel bugs along on their journey.
  3. Yeah, definitely NOT fire ants. It took 24-hours to be really noticable. Before that they were more like mosquito bites. I took a hot bath and let my legs soak. I made sure to wash the sores really good with soap and water. That helped calm the itching. Then I went out to the pharmacy and picked up some Gold Bond Anti-Itch cream. That is really helping too. Better than the Ivy Dry stuff. I'm also shopping for some boots and will start tucking in my pants legs.
  4. You may be right about the chiggers. They seem to be concentrated mostly around my ankles, but a few up my legs and behind my knees.
  5. That happened to my leg through a pair of jeans once. Weird!
  6. I just posted a story about getting ant bites on my new caching blog . This is the second time in two months that they've chewed me up without me knowing it until the next day. I've been using a product called Ivy Dry that's specifically for Poison Ivy but seems to help some. Any good home remedies to relieve the itching? It's driving me nuts.
  7. Yeah, been watching it. I'm not going to be skipping any of these episodes. Anybody figure out how those combination ammo boxes work? Those are way cool! I also liked the umbrella keys for the boxes at the plane crash site.
  8. Okay, now the Tilley is on my list of must have items. I think I'm going to get one next week. Since I'm fair skinned, a hat is a must and while baseball caps are fine, they just don't protect the neck and ears. I've also got my eye on the Vest of Many Pockets. ----- Kevin Harris is the owner of CachingAdventures.com a website for the geocaching community with blogs, articles, and forums.
  9. I use a large fanny back that has a pouch on each side for a 16oz Nalgene bottle (it's important to stay hydrated in this Texas heat). Mine is an Eddie Bauer model fanny pack that I found at Target. It is definitely big enough to manage an FRS radio or a couple in addition to my GPS unit, compass and other various paraphenalia that cannot be left behind. The nice thing was that it came with the Nalgene bottles. Sometimes it's not quite big enough, but I've just switched to cargo pants with plenty of oversized pockets to manage the overflow. ----- Kevin Harris for Team Harris Caching Adventures
  10. I get to cache with Mrs. TeamHarris all the time. My favorite cacher.
  11. Make it a multi. Send people to the main find but they have to decipher a clue or coordinates to find the Sharpie.
  12. I had an interesting one today. Nothing quite as bad as what's mentioned here, but quite smelly at one point. I was on the hunt for ehcaC sdrawkcaB I wasn't out of the car for very long approaching the creek when I smelled a distinct smell from my childhood fishing days. Has anyone ever heard of Catfish Charlie Blood Bait? That's the smell that I smelled, but I never imagined it could happen naturally. Luckily the smell didn't last for long, since I didn't hunt down the source.
  13. Dang! The only degree confluence in the DFW Metro area is on Raytheon property. Since Raytheon is a defense and aircraft technology company, I'd guess that placing a cache on their property probably wouldn't work out. Sounds like a good way to wind up in a Federal Penitentiary. Oh well the next closest one looks like it's about an hour and a half out into the country. Might take a bit of scouting as it looks to be near a creek in farmland.
