  1. Maybe most of the people who had the correct coords didn't need to verify them. Probably true. Are those numbers supposed to be an offset from the listed co-ords?
  2. GCWK7E Keep in mind that I'm just a newbie when I say this - I don't get it. I would have no idea what to do with those numbers. At least I'm not alone. Geochecker says "There have been 14 visits to this hash, including this visit; of those who attempted a solution, 1 had the right coordinates, and 17 had the wrong coordinates. "
  3. Around here, south Chicago suburbs, I'm finding Google earth to be very accurate. Streets drawn on the map match up perfectly with the street images. If there's something visible from the sky to use as a landmark, like a sidewalk or bridge, I can just print the map and use it to walk right to within 10 to 20 feet of the cache. Of course, this tactic doesn't work well in the middle of the woods, all the trees look alike from above.
  4. I use one of a number of hat depending on the weather and my mood. A couple of straw hats in different shapes for the sun, assorted baseball hats, mao caps in several colors, bucket hats for light rain. And earlier today, I ordered a straw pith helmet. Woohoo!
  5. It's open to your own personal preferrence. Some people like to "Rack and Stack" the Waymarks... going for multiple cross referrence lisings. Some people like to only list in the Category they are actually interested in. Waymarking is pretty free form, and that's a good thing. Let's people enjoy it in their own way, without too much worry about proximity (apart from duplicates in the SAME Category... that would be silly) The Blue Quasar Thanks for the replies all. Normally, I'd ignore a basketball court as it's not of immediate interest to me, but I might do this one anyway, as even I can see that it is of above average quality and well maintained. And there's a good vantage point for a nice photo.
  6. I read about it on this ehow page, which was featured on Google's homepage about a month ago. http://www.wikihow.com/Go-Geocaching
  7. I was thinking of Waymarking a large park nearby. But there's serveral categories it could fit in. Public park, public playground, basketball court, & I'm not sure if the armed forces memorial fits in any existing category. It seems silly to waymark it in three categories, don't you think? Not to mention the volleyball court, tennis courts, baseball field and picnic areas that may have a spot in potential future categories.
  8. Restrooms Available - optional - checkbox The answer to that question may not be strictly yes or no, but "seasonal" when water gets turned off in the winter.
  9. I agree, historic or antique outhouses might be interesting, but not modern porta-potties.
  10. Is is possilble to filter the search results by category when I do a zip code search? I don't want just one category, nor do I want to see every category. I'd like a check list of categorys, where I can exclude/include certain categories. Right now, if I search for waymarks within 50 miles of my zip code I get 128 items, it seems like half of them are McD's, brewpubs and recovered benchmarks. I'd like to exclude those 3 categories (at least) from the list of waymarks I see. But I also don't want to limit my search to just octagon buildings (1 here) or even to just buildings of any type. Is there a way to do that?
  11. Let's say I want to find the nearest "_____" to my home. Can I sort the list of waymarks by distance? Take the category "natural caves" for example. There are none within 100 mile sof my home, but I'd still like to see a list of the closer ones.
  12. I'd go for it. Then I'd donate the car to one of those cars for charity deals and take the tax deduction.
  13. I have some smaller jars like that, w/ maybe a 3 inch opening. But how do they hold up in winter freeze/thaw cycles? I'd test mine in the freezer, but it will be a while before I use up the original contents.
  14. I have found one cache and I already have a snoogans number of 3 (I think, am I counting right?)
