  1. Try this with the unit powered on go to the trip computer page, go to a box on the screen and press the enter button a menu should come up with several choices pick what you want displayed in this box in your case LOCATION and push the enter and that will be displayed there. All the boxes are changeable on my unit. You should be able to set it up with what ever you want in each field.
  2. Check out my cache What Was I Thinking GC13M3W only five teams have found it. Look at the logs, it's a challenging cache and all stages are in plane sight. The challenge is getting to the stages. I bait it with Coins and TB's and still not many find it.
  3. Only once was I asked what I was doing. I was looking for a cache near the edge of town in the woods near a residential area when I was approached by an older lady who I noticed was watching me from her house from the time I left my truck, a blue Ford Explorer that could pass for a state vehicle. My answer was that I was there doing stage one survey work for a new sewer wast treatment plant. She responded OH and walked off, I'm sure to call all the neighbors.
  4. The wife got a new streetpilot c330 for Christmas and I was looking at owners manual, it stated that it will accept 500 Waypoints/favorites. I have other garmin units map60cs, gps 5+, and a venture, while in my mapsource software I can choose to send waypoints to the unit but can not find them to pull up and not sure how to delete them, I would like to load in poi of caches so while driving on trips we will see them and then use the map60 for the hunt. Any info would be appreciate.
  5. I have never carried anything other than a walking staff while hiking, and never had to use it. I have a relitive that works for a power company and has to read meters which requires him to walk into yards both in town and out in the country. Dogs are a problem for him, they are protecting their home and some are very agressive. He has tried several forms of spray and electronic deturents, but thwe best thing he has found that works and is 100% legal in all places with no permit is a portable marine blast horn. They sound a 100+ decible sound blast that will scare away an animal, and can be heard 1/2+ miles away so it could double as a help call if needed. Check your local marine dealer or search on line. look for marine horn, blast horn, safty blast horn. KEEP CACHING
  6. An evil cache to one is fun for the next, I have seen several and hid some myself in populated areas. I think the most evil cache is one that is a real challenge, a cache that is not a simple a park, walk 10 steps, look for 10-15 min and wow there it is an evil micro. I have an evil multi cache GC13M3W in Minnesota, place on June 15, 2007 and to date only 3 finds. WHAT WAS I THINKING check it out. Any size cache can be evil and some will hate them other will love them KEEP CACHING.
  7. I see the auction has now been revised stating they didn't know about the TB not being theirs.
  8. As both a Geochacher and a Ebay seller I find it disturbing that someone is making a profit off travel bugs they do not legally own. I am also afraid that if this keeps happening that ebay will start banning the sale of legal coins and bugs on the site. I ask that everyone that reads this post look at ebay auction #320180245428 by user tabbydg and send a message to the user stating the Diabetes TB is not his/hers to sell, that is was sent to him/her for the sole purpose of placing in a cache in their area.
  9. Ask the the sales rep if you can run the phone under the water from the bathroom sink to see if it will still works before you purchase it. If it does and it pulls of gps satellites and not cell phone towers to determine its location it will probably work just fine. My guess is it will be junk after the water test if they let you test it..
  10. link to photo test http://www.geocaching.com/track/log.aspx?l...70-4b1d685e1c8e
  11. I looked and have been unable to find the link to view the photos that have been entered in the 2007 RED JEEP TB contest. If anyone knows the link please post it here. THANKS & KEEP CACHING
  12. The distance can vary, I have on that we set up this past weekend that is in northren Minnesota that will require aprox 15miles of hiking to find all stages then a drive to the final of aprox 60 miles. It started out going to be only two stages but soon turned into 9. After ploting all my waypoints on a map I thought to myself what was I thinking??? So my new multi will be named "WHAT WAS I THINKING" and I'm sure any cacher who searches for it will be thinking the same. I have anothe multi in town where all 3 stages are within 1/4 mile of each other. Read the cache descriptions have fun and good luck.
  13. They posted in the Northwest thread, we don't have a Eastern Time Zone here Check the New England or Norhteast thread. MN...if you don't have someone from a Mountain time zone yet, drop me a note and I'll help you out. tsun MN-C-T mentioned that it will include 4 micros and the final - one (+ final) in MN (CST), one in the MST zone, and one in PST. Where's the fourth micro? edit: I found MN-C-T's post in the northeast thread. There is no similar post in the New England thread. I can hide one in New England if you like. 4 micros 1st one in Minnesota (Centeral Zone) 2,3,4 in Pacific, Mountain, Eastern no specific order determined yet and then the final will be in Minnesota a large cache. Sorry for asking for eastern time zone help here I must heve been asleep at the keys.. Thanks for your help..
  14. First off thanks for taking time to look at this post.. What I would like to do is set up a multi cache that is 4 micros and a regular size cache, the first micro will be here near my home and so will the final stage. What I need is another cacher in the Eastern time zone who would be willing to place a cache (micro or other your choice) for me and maintain it. If your interested please email me and I will get back with you. Thanks

  16. One good thing is they dont like snow... We got 7 inches here today, so I dont think anyone caching in my area has to worry about them yet...
  17. The choice is yours, my thoughts are you get what you pay for. I know of 2 different people who had the Iway5000 both of which had problems from day one. If the handheld units are of the same quality I would pay $500.00 more for the GARMIN.
  18. When you logged it did you log it as retrieved, or discovered??? If it was loged as discovered it would still be in the cache you received it from. If that is the case relog it as retrieved from cache.
  19. The time can vary from instant to a few days. Depending on your paypal account- do you have funds in paypal to cover the GC fee or is it requesting it from your bank first?? If the funds are in the paypal account it shouldnt take long at all.
  20. I would recomend the Garmin products. A little history I have 3 Garmin units 1 Map 60cs, 1 etrex venture, 1 GPS V, I also have several friends who use Garmin products as well. Like you I am from Minnesota I use the map 60cs in car and geocaching I use the venture on the 4 wheeler and geocaching and the GPS V is my back up unit and the one my 11yr old daughter uses. The Venture gets abused on the quad , it has seen many a days nights out in the Minnesota weather sun, rain, snow, mud you name it its been in it, it has been washed on the quad with the power washer and still works like new. The maping software for the map 60CS is second to none and works perfect here in MN, also in the other states I have visited. One time in the last 5 years have I had to contact Garmin Tec Info and they Emailed me back the correct info in less than 30 min. Im sold on Garmin products, the end choice is yours do a little research and find what best for you. PS if your ever caching in the Little Falls MN 56345 area email me if you want a caching partner for the day..
  21. Here in Northren MN where there are 10000+ lakes 20000+ boat landings and miles and miles of woods to hide good caches in, we still get a few like this under the lamp pole skirt. The people around here who are looking under the skirts of the poles are 1- looking for a poorly hidden micro or 2- need to go somewhere and dont own a car of their own..
  22. Requiring a person to read a bible to find a cache is pushing a christian agenda. I do not care how you want to sugar coat it, that is what it is. First off your are not required to find the cache or even look for it, so if it is your wish not to look in the a book (the book) to find the need information so be it. Go find another cache....
  23. I can track my route and save it on my Garmin Map60CS and then download it onto my pc and overlay it on the Garmin Topo maps ao any of the other maps I have loaded ( City Nav) or no map at all. Depending on the unit and software you have yes it should be possiable..
  24. Both are GARMIN units you cant go wrong with ether one. I have a VENTURE and a MAP 60CS the MAP 60CS has way more features. The question is what do you want and how much do you wanna spend????
