  1. That's nice. Even a muggle wouldn't bother with that box. That gives me an idea; make my cache look like a utility box or something like that.
  2. I love my Explorist 500. I do have a few complaints though: 1 - The redraw is too slow. Especially when zoomed out. 2 - When I "view" a geocache, it doesn't maintain the same zoom level as I'm currently using. I have to zoom in several levels to even see the street names. 3 - Inconsistent accuracy. If it were a bit inaccurate I could compensate for it easily. But the inaccuracy isn't consistent. Sometimes it's perfectly accurate. Sometimes it's only 5M off. Sometimes it's 10-15M off. About #3: I tested this with a known cache. The first try my 500 was off by about 5M. I then walked around in circles and random directions an then headed straight for the cache. This time it was 100% accurate. Then I tried it again, walking around in circles and random directions, and walked straight to the cache from another direction; this time it was off by 13M. What the heck? It was telling me the cache was 13M BEHIND me. How can this be? In a matter of minutes it went from 5M off to 100% accurate to 13M off. Weather was light overcast. So I can understand if it's off a bit, but I just wish it was consistent. Other than those compliants, I love the 500. Really bright screen, loaded with features, built-in geocaching. Fantastic!!!
  3. Good point. A lock does hint at something valuable inside and some people could be tempted to find what it is.
  4. When I find an AOL cd in a cache I take it and don't trade it. I take these abominations and transform them into drink coasters. Passing them along is lame. Using them as coasters and keeping them out of circulation is the only HUMANE thing to do.
  5. That would be a good idea if not that several puzzle caches hide themselves as traditional ones. I hate puzzle caches. They're pretty silly. By over-complicating the game you lose the original appeal of the game. Keep it simple stupid!
  6. I'm thinking of putting up a cache near my place. But I want to keep muggles out since this cache will be the origin of many TBs I plan on putting out in the world. I want to put a combination lock on it to keep the muggles out. The combination would be part of the cache name, in the description and hint. So geocachers could be able to open it up. And no complicated puzzles either. I just want to put the combination out there for geocachers only. Is this a good idea?
