  1. Now I feel Dumb! I fired up Builder and figured it out in 5 minutes and it was too easy! Just an add increment by 1 then an if and else statement! Just a NewBee thing...........Thanks for listning any way.
  2. Thanks for the reply. but I knew that and had done just that. Let me clarify my problem a little more. I do not want to collect a bunch of items. I want to have the same item in different zones and when the player collects 8 or more the game ends. I can do that! The main object of the game is "Don't Collect the hidden items!" in hidden zones. What I realy need is simply: To have a Zone that every time it is entered the player gets a point against them. When they reach 8 points the game ends. I will have let's say 6 of these Zones that in combination could add up to 8. Now maybe you know what my problem is? Lon
  3. I have questions with this statement? I tryed to publish a Wherigo game and the reviewer told me that I "Have to have a container and a Log Book" at the final location! I can see that if you just upload a cartridge to the Wherigo site then No you don't need a cache but you loose the exposure of publishing your game. Read the Groundspeak cache listing rules where Wherigo is listed. My thoughts - It's a Wherigo game "vertual" in most, why not a "vertual" end?
  4. Inventory Items Question? I have just started making Cartridges and have made 3 now with each new one I try to add a ney option and this brings me here with a question..... Question: I'm making a game where the player collects items lets say a "Star" from different Zones and when they collect 8 that opens a new Zone and wipes out their collection of items? I try to make a collection of items but can only collect one? I have crashed my cartridge 3 times now trying and have to rebuild now 3 times! Darn it.... I haven't found anything about "collecting items" in the forums yet. Any help would be Great! Thanks It would be nice to have a thread with just little help carts I have found a couple.
  5. Just finished #3 last night. Just have to go and make a run through before I publish it.
  6. Yep you are in for a ride but worth it! Once you get started there will be a learning curve! I just finished my 3rd cartridge last night and having a great time. With each one that I make I try to add a new option, that takes me a little further into the bulding process. It's just too bad that Gorundspeak hasn't updated Builder in 4 years? I learnd using Builder but It just depends on whitch builder you start with Urwigo is a good one.
  7. I'm moving along and the Builder is just a piece of cake now. OK Yes there is still more to learn but I now have the basic understanding on how it works and that is more than half the battle. I now have made 2 Cartridges in 2 weeks and working on a 3rd. My first Cartridge is: Goofy Hides a Cache My 2nd Cartridge is: Pere Marquette History Tour
  8. ........Waaa Hooo........ I have made my First Cartridge and it feels good to have completed a Wherigo Cartridge! My wife and I went out today with our new Colorado and tested it. Only two stages had to be moved a short bit. Later I loaded it into Urwigo and seen only one error that I removed it was a double command so it didn't affect anything. It even saved the GWL file..... Now for someone that has only done One Wherigo and just got a GPS yesterday that will do Wherigo's and made a working Cartridge I feel Good! More to come in the Muskegon, Michigan area. I'll submit my first one in a couple days, I just want to double check the changed two stage locations first. "Goofy Hides a Cache" "Thanks for helping Goofy find his new multi cache stages. He wiped out his GPS and lost all the stages and He just can't remember them! We are going to help Goofy search for the three stages."
  9. Thank You that worked for me! it was a 64bit problem on my laptop.
  10. I can't get Builder to load a Cartridge on my laptop using Vista? I get this message: "Error reading cartridge system badimage Exception: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorect format. (Exception from HRESULT 0x80070000B) at Groundspeak.Wherigo.zonesengine.zonesengineDLL.InitilializeEngine(Byte[]szDeviceID, Byte[] szLogfolder) at Groundspeak.Wherigo.zonesengine.zonesengineDLL.InitilializeEngine(String strDeviceID,String strLogFolder) at ZonesAuthor.LuaFunctions.ReadLuaCartridge (String LuaFileName) at ZonesAuthor.frmMain.OpenCartridgeFile()" I can run it on me desk computer using XP with no problems.
  11. OK It's my first Cartridge and it works with the Emulator but not my new Colorado. It loads and when I find the start zone that's it? It hangs up...... I will rewright it I think that I know what I did wrong.
  12. You also have an Earwigo account; you could import your cartridge into there, and have a Play Anywhere version within about 5 minutes. Yes I'm going to try "Earwigo" soon. I just got Builder working and made my first Cartridge.
  13. Thanks I have done that so it must be complete. Now I have to test it, my new Colorado should be here in the mail tomarrow. By marking the Cartridge "Set - - - my game name - - - - Complete True" is the line I need and that is it? How do you do it for the unlock code?
  14. I now have made my first Wherigo Cartridge that works good in the emulator and just waiting for my new Colorado to arrive so I can give it a real test. I tryed Wherigo at the MWGB 2010 this year and we had fun doing the Wherigo and looking forward to doing more. After having problems with my Pockey PC not showing the Wherigo screen proper and not doing any with it we jumped at the chance to give Wherigo a try. I like hiding clever caches and now making Wherigo caches will be fun also. My Website Now that I'm on the subject - The "Bulider" (Groundspeak Wherigo Builder - Beta 2.0.5129.5086 5/30/2008 5:27:30 PM) has Not been updated at all that I can see sense 2008????? What about the "Play anywhere (not implemented yet)"? What about the Wherigo Player for the Pocket PC "Last Release: 5/29/2008"? Is Groundspeek going to do anything with Wherigo? It's FUN and I now see that it counts with your cache finds but no other support? Finish comments: - Wherigo is fun and has unlimited possibilities with Cartridge game ideas. It adds another option to Geocaching other than Multi's, Traditional's and so on. Although bulding a Cartridge is a task for the first time builder and not everybody will take the effort to struggle through learning the Builder. Some cachers will! If Groundspeek will not take the effort to support the "Builder" and the other support programs why not open it up to a group that would? There are a lot of good programmers out there that I'm sure would help for nothing. Yes I have tryed Urwigo but what's up with "Builder"? Just My Thoughts
  15. I tryed a new VGA program with no luck. So I put the Dell Axim on Ebay and sold it to a medical student it was good for paperless caching that's it. I also sold the Garmin 10X that was a nice GPS. I ordered a new Colorado 400t I know that it will work because I tryed one at the MWGB 2010. I now have made my first Wherigo Cartridge that works good in the emulator and just waiting for my Colorado to arive so I can give it a real test. 16. Wow now I have finished my first cartridge - BUT I have one question. How do I end it? I don't know what commands to use? It is a Geocache with a cache hide at the end. What I did is made a "final stage" or "Zone" location where I will place the actual cache container. I set the "Zone" coords at 10 feet to make it close to the container. Is this how other Geocache Cartridges are made? And/Or how does a normal cartridge end?
  17. WaHoooo My first cartridge is 1/2 done and going GREAT! The Wherigo Builder is coming good now and things are clicking!!! The 2nd half will be a breeze..... UPDATE: It's done! (all but one question) My Cartridge is called "Goofy Hides a Multi Cache" and it is being done my normal Goofy way! Now I just have to wait for my new Colorado to arrive so I can test it. It does work in the Emulator with no problems. I have one question in the below post.
  18. I gave up on "Urwigo" simply because of the lack on "How To" where Wherigo Builder has good how to. It looks like a good program but for a new Cartridge maker it is not easy. I'm doing good with Builder so I will stay with it. Sorry
  19. I have made a 7 pages guide to produce a simple Wherigo with tips and trick(but up to now only in Swedish). I base it on the Wizard (tools/wizard). With that you can do a 3 step simple Wherigo and pic up coins along the way. We in Sweden have extra problems as we have letters with dots over (ÅÄÖ). I have at present 25 pupils on my dropbox and 3 has already created theire own cartridges. I have made 6 and had a lot of problems and made the guide to help people and get more Wherigo´s in Sweden. I might translate it in a couple of weeks if you are intrested and create a dropbox for the English version as well j-annie Sweden Yes I'm interested and realy want to start making a cartridge. Thanks
  20. Building your first Wherigo Cartridge can be a mind boggling task. I have sat through a couple Cartridge seminars and by the time I get home most is lost, it's hard to comprehend everything in the talk. The problem with Wherigo is not everybody has the skills and or knowledge to build one. Anyone can hide a Geocache only few can do a Wherigo. It would be nice to have a "Wherigo Demo" thread in the forums. A place wher a NEW Cartridge maker can grab a Cartridge Demo and modify it to their idea. There is only the "ZooventureTutorial" that only shows a couple ideas and there is so much more. I find ZooventureTutorial cumbersome and hard to understand and not the kind of Cartridge that I want to make anyway. Are there any other Cartridge Demo's out there?
  21. OK I have been working with Urwigo all day so far and have not got anywhere. I have 3 cartridges that I'm looking at but the learning curve has me stumped! The problem is with the "Zooventuer" levels are doing things that I don't want to do and the Urwigo "Actions" and "Expressions" have me stumped. When I put an Action in it needs something else and I just don't know what to do, nothing is working for me? I want to make a Cartridge that has 3 or 4 stages that ask lets say 3 questions each stage with 2 questions leading to a nowhere locations and 1 stage being the corect answer leading to the next stage with the last stage being the final. Is there a demo or .lua out there that I can see or modify to help me get started? I just would like to make one cartridge to get me started. Help Please
  22. Yes there are. Read through this thread and you will find many. You have at least three example just above. Good luck. Thanks I'll go back and read all the logs and look for "Demo's". I'm working on my first cartridge and it is comming along good and I'm having fun with it. I'm actually thinking about only placing Wherigo caches only (Less Maintenance and a lot can be done with them.) I have about 3 other cartridge ideas rolling around in my head. What would be a big help with Urwigo would be a list of the the commands and what they do. I'm relating some of them to basic language but still fumbling around with them. For a new person starting out with any of the builders they are a BIG learning curve not everyone knows all those terms. Urwigo is a GREAT PROGRAM and I like it! Thanks for all your work. I make web sites (www.greathides.com for one) and do know how much work can go into a program like Uewigo.
  23. Sorry for the double post! I know that this may sound dumb....But. I see the image and icon boxes that say "none". I'm new at making a cartridge with Urwigo and just can't figure out how to add images and icons so they will show in the boxes so I can select one? Solved After about 2 hours I got it figured out! My first cartrige is started. Are there any Demo's out there that one can use and modify to their own?
