  1. When purchasing my Premium Membership my mother was trying to figure out how the site worked so she created a Geocaching account for me using my primary email and now I cannot add that email to my account. I am currently using my old one and wanted to update, but when I tried to add the newer one the word conflict pops up. Does anyone know how I can change it over? Or am I just out of luck?
  2. ARGHHH! I live in Kansas, the Emporia area to be exact, but my senior prom is the same freaking day as the event. I can't miss because my mother already bought the dress and a friend of mine from far away has arranged to come with me. Gosh dangit!
  3. Haha, I think that's fine. I've seen some very questionable items in caches and a fake snake isn't that big of a deal.
  4. Let's see here… I've come across money a couple of times, a cassette tape of songs from the show Friends, band aids and insect repellent wipes, a CD, and a very expensive toy which I took for my younger brother.
  5. Do positive posts include sharing successes in the Geocaching world? I have a few, and I'm sure others do as well
  6. I like nothing more then creative homemade caches like that, great work! Thank you, I worked really hard on it. Perhaps you can find it if you ever drive out my way.
  7. ?? Wow, major auto correct failure. Although if youre powerful enough to manufacture a god, well you'll have no problem giving away a scolarship. Let's try again, Why Groundspeak? Why not GPS manufacturers? That could work too. I just think it could be great for kids who do enjoy this hobby. I doubt that you'll ever see a scholarship from a company for students that enjoy a hobby. In this case, our hobby uses some technical expertise and a company like Groundspeak or one of the GPS manufacturers might see the value in helping a student pursue an engineering or computer science degree with a focus on GIS (Geographic Information Systems). You're right. I just wish it was possible.

  9. Here is the fifth and final cache in my series, aside from the super-secret mystery cache whose photo will not appear here. Now, maybe you're thinking, Not ANOTHER birdhouse… but this one has something different about it. The inside is painted to best represent the character the cache was made for. On top of that, the container itself is covered in blue floral duct tape with a variety of blue items inside. The character's color scheme in the series is blue. What do you guys think?
  10. That's really cool! I love the creativity and having someone so nice at the cache location is the icing on the cake. Guess I need to plan a trip to Munich. Sure, it's creative, but how did it get past the reviewer? That may be why there is a cache box now, because this issue has come up many times before, and I got the impression from reviewers that posted to those threads that a cache requires a log *and* a container (except for cache types which don't require a log). I just assumed that the container had been there since the beginning and the owner was just accepting logs from people who signed the wall. Maybe not, who's to know for sure?
  11. ?? You know, the Play-Doh Mold a God set? It comes with a lifetime guarantee.
  12. I am a senior in high school and am applying for scholarships and I was curious if there was a Geocaching one, but when I looked into it I found there was no such thing. Wouldn't it be cool if Groundspeak sponsored a scholarship for those pursuing a higher education? I can understand why this was never done before, but now the app exists (And yes, I'm aware of its faults) this could be a great way to really work with and educate a new generation about what Geocaching is. Thoughts?

  14. I have some good news. For about five months now I have been laboring over a Geocache series dedicated to my favorite anime of all time, and I have finally completed all of the containers. I am going to publish one a week until they're all out and I'm super excited! The first one went live tonight! Homura Akemi
  15. *Well* [groan] that's some nice work. I is that gold object to the right of the well a pot of gold, and if so, do you plan on placing it at the end of a rainbow? Well, not quite. I wanted it to look like a pot of gold, but it's not going to a rainbow. Instead it's going into the woods.
  16. Here is one I will be placing shortly. The water bottle is for scaling purposes. It's the third that I've posted from my cache series.
  17. Is 18 not age of majority where you live? It is, but my parents are overprotective. They don't want me more than 5 miles out of town on my own. I still live at home because I'm not out of high school yet, so they see it that I should follow their rules. I believe it to be fair.
  18. I understand how you feel. I'm 18 but began caching when I was 15. My parents still will not let me go caching unless someone is with me, so most of the time I sit and stare at the cache pages. You have an advantage though, you live in a large city where there are lots of people. I suggest wearing a shirt that has to do with Geocaching so you can maybe meet others in school who do it, or are interested. That's the best advice I've got for you. Good luck!
  19. Thank you. It took three weeks of painting and sketching to do just the designs. Your comment really made my day. Here is another that i am going to place tomorrow. It's from the same series as the ammo can. Each cache represents one of the five main characters, with the cache itself being customized for their character, and the locations reflecting everything from their backstory to their current life. Here's what the outside looks like… And here's the inside. The color of all the SWAG is purple because that is the color of the costume this character wears. And yes, the clock on it actually works. I haven't decided if I am going to make this PMO.
  20. I am working on a five cache series for an anime that I like. This is one of the few I have done. Here's the other side of the ammo can… I'll post the rest as I place them.
  21. For me, great! I am placing the first of a six cache series this Monday and am excited to see how people like it. I've worked on this particular hide for about 2 months.
  22. In which case you have my sincere sympathy. I'd have to rewind the clock over two decades to be 18 again - and I've been driving since I was 17 - and I still find driving and parking in busy and unfamiliar territories highly stressful - so you're certainly not alone in that. Narcissa offers good suggestions - try gradually build up a list of good, safe, inexpensive parking locations and keep a note of them - perhaps stick a pin in Google Earth to record the coordinates - and then walk from there into the busier areas. As you're walking around, if you come across what looks like a good parking location for future trips, take a waypoint on your GPS device and add it to your list for future use I'll sometimes mention where I parked - including GPS coordinates to make it easy to locate - in my find logs on caches in the hope it will help others. Take your time, stay safe and allow your confidence to grow at a comfortable pace Thank you for that idea. I'd never thought of it before and will definitely start using it. Thank you also for your understanding. Not everyone is like that
  23. Don't feel bad - your comfort level will go up as you get more experience driving. It's totally normal to have stress about driving in situations you aren't accustomed to. Knowing your limits means you are being a cautious and conscientious driver - that's a good thing. Have you thought about approaching it sort of like urban hiking? Find a good place to park, and plan a day of caching on foot from there. I often do that in my own city, or when visiting others. Thank you for being so considerate. By the way, I like that idea of urban hiking, I'll try it out!
  24. I think it's great. I learned more about how caches were to be maintained and cared for by the condition the caches were in. I see no problem here.
