  1. those you would like to donate for the event but cannot contribute Geocoins, money can be donated for the registered charity Spinal Injuries Scotland here.
  2. For those of you who can't make the event mentioned in the OP but would still like to donate to Spinal Injuries Scotland, a registered charity, this can be done here.
  3. An excellent idea - so excellent in fact, that I've just done it. The page is http://www.justgiving.com/hogmanay_hangout Donations can be given until January 13th, 2 weeks after the event.
  4. ok - this might be a stupid question but is the update free or do you have to pay for it?
  5. I do see your sarcasm, but that wouldn't work anyway as if you discovered a cache that still had a bug logged in it but had been actually physically taken then you'd still register as seeing that bug. All we asked for was a way of doing it in one screen rather than 3 or 4.
  6. My thoughts are that it would be cheaper for you to buy a cheap PDA and use that
  7. Welcome to all newcomers on the list from sunny (!?!) Scotland!
  8. I agree - given that I never take the cache with me when I find it, I have discovered it in the TB sense of the word. I like the idea of a revisted the cache rather than leaving a general note though.
  9. Is there anyway to get the kitchen sink downloaded with GPX files?
  10. This is a great idea! It would make it a whole lot easier and hopefully people wouldn't forget to log their TBs so often.
  11. To add TBs to a cache that you have already visited and don't want to relog, instead of selecting "Found It", select add a note saying that you're revisiting and dropping off the TBs. This then doesn't count towards your final count.
  12. I agree with HH - it's not as if the coins disappear out or circulation - they just get moved on very quickly. Anything that keeps trackables moving is ok by me.
  13. Does anyone know the Geocacher Lost_Tribe? He picked up our TB "Zou" a while ago and only logged it as discovered rather than picked up, though the log entry made it clear he'd picked it up. Since then he's not officially picked it up and hasn't moved it on for over 2 months. I've emailed him a couple of times to check everything's ok with it but haven't heard back from him. If anyone knows him and could urge him just to drop me an email that would be great!
  14. Our Jeep has been placed in the tourist-friendly "Crag and Tail" (GCHXMH) if anyone visiting Edinburgh wants to grab it.
  15. *Mr Chizu coughs and splutters* that'll be Ms, not Mrs Chizu
  16. I'm sure there were some girls (aged 14 or so) who were paintballing last time I was there. Ms Chizu won't want to actually go paintballing herself but is more than willing to look after kit and kids (and TBs and geocoins!) while other people are playing, if this is an issue. She runs a local guide unit so she's well qualified. Mr Chizu however will be getting covered in paint.
  17. The paintball I've done around Edinburgh does this as a game - except the cache is a large barrel of several gallons! Great idea!
  18. Can't we class it as an event if playing is optional but sitting around the hut out of the playing area is also an option? Count me in, probably for a half day!
  19. Oooo I (Mr Chizu) will be 30 five days after you. Luckily Ms Chizu is taking me caching in Paris for mine, although an event would be the next best thing!
  20. I hope no muggles whistle nearby otherwise they might get a surprise! Would make a good mystery especially if you didn't tell people that they had to whistle but they had to work it out somehow?
  21. Actually, I think it's journalists and media people that publish these stories and write them in such ridiculous overblown apocalyptic terms. Scientists just give the story, the media puts the spin on it.
  22. If you just linked to the original uploaded file would that be ok? For example if there's a picture of myself at www.chizu.com/chizu.jpg and you put in the code <img src="www.chizu.com/chizu.jpg"> is that breaking copyright since you're not actually reproducing the image, just using the original. I've often wondered about this and always decided that I'd better get permission anyway, but I've always wondered. Alternatively you could put hyperlinks to the pages that the images are originally on or the images themselves?
  23. yes in the imc src tag put height="X" width="Y" where X and Y are the number of pixels high and wide you want it. If you just specify one, the other will be auto adjusted according to the proportions of your pic.
  24. Thanks for your recommendations - we had a great time and did the two caches around Malham and they were amazing. I'm so hoping the Cove Earthcache doesn't get archived on the 20th by the new rules (see it's log for further info). We didn't have little ones but we wimped out and went the easy way to the Gordale Scar cache anyway! You can see our profile for the full list of caches we visited.
