  1. Hello Folks! Pepper, reading your post on hiking with your kids reminds me of trying to get Lizardbutt to go hunting for caches. I was able to get Lizardbutt to hike your "You've Got Mail" thanks to the blackberry bushes along the one section of the trail. He then wanted to go back a couple of days later to collect more blackberries. Otherwise, the kid likes to bike just about anywhere. Lizardbutt's Mom
  2. My sister told me about letterboxing, and while reading that website I discovered this geocaching site. We now do both geocaching and letterboxing. There are more geocaches than letterboxes in our area and that makes Lizardbutt happy. Lizardbutt loves geocaching because of the toys. I am rewarded with interesting hikes and being introduced to new places. Lizardbutt's Mom
  3. I found out about geocaching through a post on the letterboxing site. Well, Lizardbutt loves geocaching for the hunt of the toys. Lizardbutt's sister likes both goecaching and letterboxing. Dad likes gadgets, so the GPS is fun. BUT I(Mom) enjoy the great hikes we have done, and the big reward of discovering new parks. We have had some great summertime picnics while out hunting for caches. AT our last outting we came across some backberries. We gather up enough to make a wonderful pie(first blackberry pie for the kids).

  5. We keep all of our printout sheets on the caches, photos that we have taken, and any additional information on the cache that we didn't post. Makes a great scrapbook.

  7. I tried this on our first time out, since we didn't have the GPS yet. The kids and I were in the correct spot but unable to find the box. We didn't look under all the rocks. We did find $1. Went back with GPS and went right to the spot. Then when looking for another box, we had the GPS but the box was moved to a new location( about 100 ft from orginial coords.). I feel that if we had a general idea where this box was located and we didn't use the GPS we would have found the box sooner than we did.
  8. I like CaKoala's suggestion. Mitch thanks for the info on Buxley's map site.
