  1. Not possible. Geocaching.com will not release the rights to port this application. Geocaching.com won't even let the Iphone apps interact like geocache navigator with geocaching.com. There was already a developer working on a similiar app and was turned down geocaching.com. It has to interact like any other web users and thats all you are allowed to do.
  2. Use the search box function here and type in "WAAS" or "Magellan WAAS problem". There is a lot of info in the archives about this subject. Thanks to the good folks here I was able to restore WAAS on two of my Explorist 400's a few months ago. You could use this info to either restore your WAAS function on your current unit or use that info for when you call Magellan to get an exchange for a new Triton. When/if you call them for an exchange be firm (and extremely patient). Most of the newer 500LE have the new firmware that prevents the upgrade to the 2.57 EU firmware to fix the waas problems. The only unit able to be upgraded are units with the 2.03 firmware anything else won't work.
  3. If its a new Magellan you just bought, you need to go return it because even though it says it is WAAS compatible, you will no longer be able to get WAAS because WAAS sats have been changed last year which the signal that was sent out to tell gps units it was being changed and where to look for them. If you just bought this one it will look at the old waas sats and you will never get a signal for waas and the waas change signal has been shut off so you won't get the new update. Magellan will probably offer you a triton model if you call them up and complain about it.
  4. I have a USB to parallel adapter and all I did was plug it in and the computer detected it. However I have had some issues in the past where it would not detect the printer connected to it. Sometimes I would have to reboot to get the thing to work again. I have had several weird instances using it. I honestly don't think the USB to port adapters are that reliable and sometimes can cause strange results. You might want to get a serial 9 pin card to install in your computer like this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16815166003
  5. The TOMTOM give you plenty of warning on turns and talks about each of them. You can turn then on or off. It also has warnings like if your speeding or going by a church or school. They can all be ticked on or off if you want the warning. The tomtom x30 can also give you leway times which say you need to be somewhere by 4pm you put it into the gps and then it routes to get your there by 4pm. During that time it will show you a + or - time like +3:00 minutes ahead of schedule along with the time you will arrive. It has been suprising accurate. There is a lot of information that can be displayed on the front screen of the unit.

  7. Garmin World 10000 1) Futuristic interface to show a heads up display which shows your surrounding computer generated. Incorprated Night vision for the night caches also. 2) Auto Cache detector on HUD it will search area for caches and pinpoint with red targeting circle. 3) Virtually control screen by touching virtual buttons in your field of view. 4) Muggle Detection routine which will scan area for muggles and if one gets to close it will auto-cloak you. 5) Optional brain stem jack to hook into your brain so you do not need the goggles and things will be displayed normally through your eyes. (brain stem port required not included in purchase) (Please consult your doctor prior to installing brain stem port)
  8. I have a hard time believing they will release the Midwest before the Appalachians. Why? Whats the big deal about the appalachians? There's a lot more backcountry recreation here The most visited national park in the country (Great Smokies) Closer to population centers Highest sheer rock face in Eastern North America (>2500') Highest waterfall in Eastern North America (> 700') But hey, I'm biased. And despite my user name, I'm back in NC now. Doesn't Garmin 24K East National Parks cover most of the appalachians? The reason I called them was I wanted to know when Idaho was going to be available and they said they are working on them from west to east. Now it could have been a person just telling me what I wanted to hear or someone with some knowledge. I guess we shall see what they release next.

  10. Well the 24K maps on SD card only have 4 states so far, since you are using a 60CSx you should not have the backlighting issues that the colorado and oregon users have with these maps. The Topo 2008 is probably your best buy for only $80.00 and you get all of the US. Trails are very limited though on those maps. What states will you be in?
  11. Does the sat almanac have the new WAAS sats in its memory? If the unit was not on last year to get the info for the new waas sats or was hard reset the 600 won't be able to get waas unless its got 2.03 firmware which can be upgraded to 2.57 EU. Any other firmware besides 2.03 on the 600 you won't be able to upgrade and get waas.
  12. It seems the consensus is we always fall back to the 60CSx or the 76CSx. Both are very well proven in the field. Even with me owning a colorado, we still carry the 60CSx with us while we are out since the reported innacuracy bugs in the colorado and in HCx models
  13. He will be waitng a very long time for them to be done. I was told by tech support that they were working from the west coast to the east coast.
  14. SORRY I LIKE TO TYPE IN CAPS. I KNOW IT IS BAD FOR SOME PEOPLE BUT. I FIGURED YOU CANT HEAR ME SHOUTING SO DO LOOK INTO IT SOO MUCH. THANKS FOR THE REPLY THOUGH. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I AM ON GEOCACHING.COM I SELECT SEND TO GPS. THEN A GARMIN/GEOCACHING WINDOW POPS UP AND SAYS GPS NOT FOUND. I HAVE ONCE AGAIN ALREADY DOWNLOADED ALL OF THE PERTINENT SOFTWARE AND GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH GARMIN. AND YES THEY ARE SMART, AND KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. SSOOOOOOO IF THEY SAY IT IS ON GEOCACHING'S WEB PROBLEM SORRY I BELIEVE THEM. Well then it seems its just a conspiracy against you. Garmin techs are really not all knowing, most read from a script. As you can tell all the rest of us can use the send to gps and its working fine but it doesn't work for you and garmin tells you that its geocaching.com fault, who are you going to really believe a mindless drone tech or people who are using it now as we speak. Sounds to me you like you have a broken USB cable, or a broken USB port, or something isn't plugged in right. I have four suggestions for you: 1) Go to a friends house and try it on another computer, maybe your computer is the problem. This would at least rule out that its not your computer. Try another USB cable also. 2) Obviously your very frustrated and you should pack up your gps in the box and send it back and get your money back. 3) Plug your USB cord into the back of your computer and don't use the front USB ports. 4) STOP USING CAPS IN THE FORUMS.
  15. Hmmmm... tell me more bud. This is so much better than reading the reviews The tomtom 730 has a lot nice features. It has several menu screens but you can configure them to your liking with the custom menu software for the tomtom. It has advanced lane guidance which show a static graphic of your turn off and will show arrrows flashing on which lanes you need to be in. THere is also IQ routing where it learns the quickest routes during certain times not only from your tomtom but from other tomtoms when you dock it at home. Most gps only will do quickest route and its set, but IQ routing goes beyond that and keeps time/date/speed/traffic data during your trips to give you the acutal fastest route so during rush hour won't route you along a highway that it knows is severely congested at that time and give you alternate routes. You can also alternate route to your hearts content until it computes the way you want to go. You can select from hundreds of screen color combos which are totally customizable which I liked. You can also make corrections to pois, roadblocks, closed roads, then you can share it with others and others can share it with you. However you cannot add a road but you can add one and request that it be added when you dock it you can draw the road right on the screen. One con the display washes out in direct sunlight but I bought a visor for it and everything is cool. Check out some of the reviews on the tomtom 730.
  16. I like the tomtom x30 series. I own the tomtom 730 and its totally configurable right down to the menu and the screen colors and voice. Works pretty well for getting me to the cache. You can have custom pois and icons. You can view your custom pois without having to be zoomed in or in 2d mode like on the nuvi line. This is the main reason I went with tomtom instead of the nuvi line
  17. 1) Topo 2008 and Garmin 24k East Topo Maps V3 2) Most of it is covered on the 24k East topo maps V3 a. Yes there is trail Data b. Go with the DVD/Cd versions so you can work on your route on the computer. 60CSx is goos gps unit. I have one.
  18. I use an external antenna on my tomtom its a 55db gilsson. I aquire sats quicker and actually hold onto more sats then I did without the antenna. Prior to the antenna I would only get 8-9 now I get over 12 all the time.
  19. If your refering to input coords into your gps you can use several. You can use the send to gps button on the cache page, easy gps, gsak, and there are several others out there.
  20. This drift thing is crazy. I guess I am one of lucky ones who have not experienced any drifts. I check my track log every time I get home and compare it to my 60CSx and still never experienced anything. I have gotten "wander" before on both when I was on ahillside in a valley and going through a canyon. Going through the canyon in regards to finding caches the 60CSx did better since my better half found most of the caches and I was looking in bushes 40 ft away. I chalked the 40feet off to being in a canyon and not to the dreaded drift which people claim have thrown them 400-600 feet off. Now thats drift.
  21. I tested it also. I sent caches to my colorado 300 and a 60CSx without an issue.
  22. Heh still waiting on the fixes for the explorist 600 before it was retired. Looks like I will be waiting an eternity.
