  1. Sorry to hear the case is closed! That "stirring up" was just starting to get things stirred up!
  2. Yes, winter's great - just choose the right caches to go after. Also, some caches have less muggle-trouble in winter.
  3. I use GPS Widget to actually display the phone's internal gps data. Field Compass app is good also. I paid the two bucks for the "pro" versions. Worth it to avoid ads & hassle.
  4. Check out http://coord.info/GC26KP8. I just solved the puzzle and confirmed the answer but have not yet gotten time to explore GZ. The puzzle is: Wholely Cache ░▓░░░▓░▓▓░░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░░▓▓░▓░░░▓░▓░░░ ▓░▓░░░▓░▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░▓▓ ░░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░░▓▓░░░░▓▓░░░▓░ ░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░░▓▓░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░ ░░░░▓▓▓▓▓░▓░░░▓░▓▓▓▓▓░░░▓▓░░░▓░░▓░░ ░▓▓░░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░░▓▓░░▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░▓▓▓▓▓ ▓▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓ ░▓░▓▓▓▓▓░░░▓▓░░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░░ ▓▓░░▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░▓ ▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░░▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░▓░░ ░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░ ▓░░░░░▓▓▓▓▓░▓░░░▓░▓▓▓▓▓░░░▓▓░░░▓░░▓ ░░░▓▓░░░▓░░▓░░▓░░▓░░░▓▓░░▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░ ▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓ ░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░░░░▓░░ Yes, that's what you've got to work with!
  5. Yes, every puzzle if different, and to some extent you have to get inside the mind of the puzzle creator. I haven't found any general guidance for solving puzzles because there really isn't any. Tips from the puzzle's creator is your best bet.
  6. Also, you can approach it from the cache list. Enter the maximum distance from your area, and you'll get a list of all caches within that area. Then click on "rating" at the top of the list. That will sort the list by difficulty. And bring your special equipment (climbing gear, scuba gear, etc.)if it's a "true" 5-5!
  7. A woman in my area always leaves one of her two earrings in the car while caching. She's then ready to explain her search as looking for her "lost" earring. Great idea in some situations - but it won't explain the electrical box search or the fence-post-cap search or the lamppost-skirt search or the tree-climbing search! Overall tip - don't look "furtive" or sneaky! The art is to be stealthy without appearing stealthy, or in some situations, to just go do it as if it is a perfectly natural action.
  8. You guys travel light! To all of the above items I add: 150’ rope coil, ice axe, carabiners, avalanche beacon, friction hitch, mechanical ascenders, and the all-important UV light. I leave the hangglider on the roof of my cachemobile. Actually, all the suggestions are great - depending on the location. For example, if it's a park-&-grab and I've seen the satellite photo and there is exactly one lightpost near GZ, then I take 1 item only: a pen! Happy caching, all!
  9. Silly me, but I don't see the connection with geocaching! Or is it that if you ask if any geocachers are into XYZ, then it's a geocaching topic?!
  10. The easiest (and most fun) solution would be for you each to have separate accounts. This way you can take home TWO plastic lizards from each site you visit! LOL
