  1. I will echo what Chuntu said, but with one difference. With my big paws, I prefer the 60CSx. Do go somewhere you can try them both. Buy the one you like.
  2. That is one of the reasons I am fond of my Zire31 as well. It too uses a mini usb, so does my new Blackberry. One cable now does it all. I'm sure other PDA's also use mini USB also. PP4x4
  3. I too WANT people to find my hides, which tend to be difficult. If it is someone I know, I will Email a hint when they log a DNF, right down to the point of a spoiler sometimes. Like, "The Troll that gaurds the cache was watching you look for it. He said you almost found it, even touching it." If I don't know them, I might ask them if they would like a hint. And if someone asks for a hint, I am always willing to oblige, of course. Ask, log your smiley. Be happy! PP4x4
  4. My first 60CSx did the same thing. Usually on a hunt I would look down and the pointer would be gone. Cycling it usually did the trick, but I finally had enough of it and did a warrenty exchange. When I called Garmin, I got of course "never heard of that". You might even get Amazon to exchange it for you. If you exchange it, be sure it is perfect right away. I am on my 4th, but all for different reasons. This one does seem to work just fine. Again, maps should work fine, just get a huge micro SD card. PP4x4
  5. Y'all will really enjoy Cochran Mill. There are lots of great caches there and lots of great things to see otherwise. It is one of my favorite places to go now. The kid's enjoy it as well. Be sure to see the dam. PP4x4
  6. I know less than nothing about the Maggie or the Lowrance, but I did have a Vista b/w until it was stolen from my truck. The Vista has an electronic compass (Garmin's words) that I am spoiled to. I have turned it off on the 60CSx before, and quickly realized I didn't like being without. If you have a little time, you might go to a large sporting goods store and see them side by side, if still available. BTW my comment of Garmin's words, some here will argue the electronic compass is not a compass. I like that it always points at the waypoint (Geocache), and I don't care what it's called. PP4x4
  7. I too use that combination. I also have a 60CSx, both with mapping. I bought the Nuvi 250W, and it is sweet. Affordable, nice sze screen, I can punch in coords without converting them, just a nice set up. PP4x4
  8. Garmin makes something that works pretty good. <smart alec mode off> If money is a concern, I found a Geko on that auction site for $36.00 Very basic, but beats a DS, or whatever gadget someone will ask about next. PP4x4
  9. Buy it, NOW!!!! Put it on the card! NOW!!!! Hurry up or they will run out of them!! MOVE!!! Your phone is right there! GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't do it now, naysayers will convince you to do something silly, like save your money
  10. PC Nation has the Garmin Vista HCx for $228.40. This is a great small unit. Amazon has the 60CSx for 299.99. This one is my favorite. I have both, but a lot of people like the Vista HCx better. Either can also hold road and Topo maps, if you need them. Good Luck! PP4x4
  11. Their equipment is still available for "our" benefit. Unless Keystone made them throw it all away. TOUCHE'! But will the new guys know to contact them? On a second note, it may be time to put this one to bed. Good night! PP4x4
  12. So there I was was on the group W bench, when the meanest, nastiest father r**** of them all asked, "What were ya in for?" and I answered "Carryin micro-baggies" and they all moved away..............
  13. The sine wave thing is this. Most in-expensive inverters produce a modified sine wave (MSW) AC voltage. SOME electronics just do not like MSW. Some inverters do a better job making the MSW than others. If you need clean AC current like at home, you use a pure sine wave inverter. But they are usually up to three times more expensive for the same wattage. This is what I use in my RV as I also install them in my customers vehicles for medical equipment, which will not tolerate MSW. In my car, I use a 400w inverter. But I won't run it even close to capacity, it is just what I had. If you run a large one at close to capacity, you could have a dead battery in about 2-5 Min. depending on the condition of the battery. 1500 watts divided by 12 volts = 125 amps. But it's hard to pull that much current in a car. I think Radio Shack has a little inverter with no cord, just the lighter plug on one end and a outlet on the other. That might be close to what you are looking for. If your equipment does not operate correctly with it, try another brand of inverter, if still mis-behaving, go to a pure sine wave. Dang, did I really write all that? Looks like it's from Cliff Clavin. Cheers! PP4x4
  14. ........For the possession of 2 grams of Marijuana, 2 years probation. For the possession of the micro-baggie it was in, 6 months in the state correctional facility. This is our verdict, Your Honor.
  15. I feel a new cacher can come here, get a GREAT PDA for however much they can/want to spend, and then get great support too. If they can't get it to communicate, if they bought it from one of these three guys they can get direct answers to solve their problems. It's better for the buyer than sorting through the forums for more generic answers. My point is these guys offer a service to this community for little or no financial gain. Let’s see if we can do something to keep their equipment available for our benefit. Please? PP4x4
  16. I feel strogly that these guys are providing a valuble service and hopefully some consideration could be given. Their prices don't reflect much (if any) profit, and perhaps that should be the basis of a commercial endever. PP4x4
  17. So what happend to Scotts thread about the Axim's? PP
  18. I've used a 60CSx for this also and it worked very well. My old (?) eyes decided I needed something bigger, so I bought one then exchanged it for a Nuvi 200W, the 200W was around $150 or so.
  19. I have both, and you won't go wrong with either. I prefer the 60CSx though. PP4x4
  20. I know how you feel about not lugging around extra things. But I started using my Treo 650 when I first went paperless, and quickly decided if something happened, (and it has) PDA's are cheap, the Treo ain't. My phone (soon to be a BB, either Curve or Pearl) stays in a Drypak bag in my messenger bag, and my "cheap" Zire 31 is constantly in and out. PP4x4
  21. I'm sure you could have one overnighted to your next destination from Otterbox.com. I have had packages delivered to campgrounds, motels Etc. BTW enjoy Paradise! PP4x4
  22. First let me say I know less than nothing about Maggi's, and even less than that about the Crossover, so I will make absolutly no comment about it. But I will tell you what my solution was. I have a Garmin 60CSx with mapping, and it works great. I also needed (or was it wanted?) a car GPS to anounce turns, so I bought first a Mio (yuck) then exchanged it for a Garmin Nuvi 200w. I can enter coords in the prefered format, get turn by turn, hop out with my handheld and be off. Yea I spent a bit more than your price point, but I can GSAK the PQ's into my 60 super easily, then just punch them into the Nuvi with the touch screen as neeeded. Works great. The hardest part is putting the Nuvi on the floor when I leave the car so it is not visable to theives. PP4x4
  23. My 250W will accept coords. Great unit, too. PP4x4
