I've been doing this wrong the whole time?
pigpen4x4 replied to ElectricBird's topic in General geocaching topics
Aw C'mon! Men don't read manuals or directions! Least not 'till we have done it already! PP -
I also use the City Map software, but sometimes it gets kinda weird. Like, a cache in a park it might have me go into a subdivsion next door 'cause it's closer to the cache than the park entrance. Not too hard to solve though. PP

I'm going to nominate two. Both are fantastic in their own right. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b4-83976729e0c1 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ec-7a0d1c43bc75 PP -
There goes the tick repellant...

We as Americans have positioned Wal-Mart as the most powerful company in America. And they know it. And they love it. They throw their weight around at all levels. From land acquisition, their vendors to their suppliers. If you want to do business with Wally, do it their way by golly! If they say "put micro chips in your packaging", you do it or lose your biggest account. It's not like the stuff is going away.....................yet. That will just be reason number 463 for ME not to visit WW. PP -
I have the sticker on the back of the F-350 and the G-Caravan. One day a customer asked me if I Geocache, 2 hours later I got back to work. PP

Nobody said anybody NEEDS GSAK. I like it because after using a couple of progams, I liked it the best. It takes just one step with GSAK. I also tried other set ups for paperless. I like Cachemate the best as well. Ooooh. Maybe I'm getting something under the table from Smitty..... PP Musta been typing same time as Sledghampster

A few thing to check. I don't know your situation, so this may or may not seem way to basic. 1. Do you have the Palm software on your computer? 2. Can you sync between your Palm and PC? If so, copy Cachemate into your Quick add section and next time you sync it should install. Then, I use GSAK to export the PQ into my Treo. I hope this helps, or I may just be rattling on. PP

Luv it! PP -
As stated before, welcome! and maybe we will meet on the trail one day. I will say, never post your Email address in a public place, unless SPAM is an important part of your social life. I know YAHOO does a great job filtering it, but it's still agrivating. Have Fun! PP

Pictures - Cool Cache Containers (CCC's)
pigpen4x4 replied to AmishHacker's topic in General geocaching topics
I have a feeling they will pop up all over the country. PP -
Another for Erik88l-r. He was a huge help and very patient with me when I was looking for guidence on placing my first cache. Once all the I's were dotted and T's crossed, it was listed very quickly. PP

Interesting Effect - do you see it?

I don't know where they are, but I know when I am traveling, I won't venture far from the hwy. Then again, I also won't make a stop for just anything either. "Hold a little longer son, the next stop is only 100 miles further!" PP -

What’s going to happen in 13 days to affect the supply/demand of the worldwide oil market? Some catastrophe? Another mid east crises? PP -
They may be slime, dosn't make 'em stupid. They will probably hock them. Any idea what kind they were? I mean, there are hundreds of GPSr's on EBAY everyday. PP

"The woman remained completley hysterical, threatened to call the police" My response would be Yes Ma'm, that is a very good idea. They could then settle this once and for all. Since there were no marks, I think they would find the woman unreasonable. PP

To me, if the hardware in question is to hold up the sign, then yes it is. If you added the bolt, probably not. But then, how does it appear to others when we are standing there apparently taking apart a sign? PP

I've tried a few, and let me second Cachemate. It is very easy to use and works great. PP

How theft proof is your 60Cxx mounting method?
pigpen4x4 replied to andman's topic in GPS technology and devices
Radio Shack I think they only have one. It's for CB radios and such. I have one in the minivan, tie wrapped to a AC vent, and it works great. PP -

A microphone holder from R/S works great. BUT, does not work with the power cable attached. PP -
eXplorist 600 or GPSMAP 60CX Which One to Buy?
pigpen4x4 replied to GreyPurrson's topic in GPS technology and devices
I can not speak for or against the Magellan, however I am very happy with my 60CSx. Even though I have a problem with the compass and need to send it in. All of a sudden the "Hold Level" stays on all the time. My old Vista saved the day last Sat. when the 60 stopped. I do wish I could carge the batts in mine. Of everything mentiond, thats the one I wish I had. PP -
I am starting a different approach. I just grabbed one I had been watching for a while and decided not to log it at all. We stopped, I told my oldest it's probably there and she grabbed it before I could go through the find procedure on the 60. I'm not being judgmental, many have enjoyed it, others have left somewhat negative remarks about it. It just was not what I like in a cache. I do enjoy reading interesting logs though. C.

Um, unless you like spam by the truckload, don't post your Email addy in public places like this. C.

I bought the Energizer 4 pack of NiMh with a charger and wall and car plugs at Lowes. I think they are also 2500's and they work great. A whole lot cheaper than regular batts. Now if the 60CSx would just charge them! C.
-
You don't say what kind of GPSr you are using, but I had a HUGE improvment in woods/forest reception when I bought a 60CSx. It has made caching much more enjoyable for us, as many of the caches are under cover of some kind. C.
-
If I lost my 60CSx tomorrow, I would order another right away. Might lose the wife as well though. Guess I would have to ask first. 'Course sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission! C.
