  1. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?ID=92802&L=561794 I wanted to hit this cache real bad because a friend previously attemped it but backed down after looking at the swampland. I thought I can do it!! I trudged through about 2 feet deep mud, 4 foot deep water, cross 3 creeks and alot of swampland to get to this one. Check out the pics. After we finnished it and got back home, we found out there was an easier way to get there. But we had a blast!
  2. This is a nice idea but with interfernce involved I think people are more likly to hold on to the TB for an extented amount of time to allow other TBs to get further ahead. I hope this doens't happen but It is a nice concept.
  3. "its in the woods and covered with leaves........duh" I'm gald I didn't have to use it
  4. You can get the distance from EZ GPS also this place is suppost to work: http://grapevine.abe.msstate.edu/~fto/calculator/converte.html There are also programs you can download. I have a few at home my self.
  5. quote: I will not hunt a multi part cache unless its all contained in one park because I usually don't have enough time to hunt more than one. I hear yea, I won't hit a muti that requires traveling if I'm already out of town. But I will if it is in my area. Now I never log a cache twice and I despise people that go and log their own caches as finds but I usuall will log a mulit twice if it requires more than 5 miles of travel. (one for each leg that requires travel) But I really enjoy Multi's that are in the same park.
  6. There is a local muilt-cache in my area that (I think) has too many leggs. It is a 7 part multi. 6 being micros with the final one being a ammo can. It really depends on the area and way you present your cache. If your doing it in a historcal area its prob ok to have a high number of waypoints. But I wouldn't expect a new comer to go hit it anytime soon. I know alot of people who even frown apon virturals.
  7. Yea, That is a great job you did on the box. I'm kinda worried that a park ranger might run across it though. I'm not too worried about a Geomuggle though because of its position. But a park ranger might be over in that area. By chance did you tell them about the cache?
  8. I watch this website to check out that current stats in my area: www.insidecorner.com/geocaching/index.cgi They have stats for most of the USA. I have yet to make #1 in my area but I'm #2 right now! My 100th find I was out of town on business but I remember it well. It was in the middle of a roundabout with cars all around me wondering what an idiot was doing in the middle of a roundabout in the AM rush hour!
  9. I very rarly even run into another geocacher out in the woods. Even if there was a fellow cacher in the woods he might not even have a radio with him. (I don't carry one) So I doubt you'll have much luck contacting them with the radio. but I'd keep trying if nice to meet fellow cachers. The easiest way to know if theres one nearby is to look at the cars. You can usaully spot one out with a Geocaching sticker. Then head to the closest cache.
  10. I've orderd a batch of TBs. I was planning on using one for a Personal TB. But how would you go back to all the ones you've been to? Just make a note drop it in and then remove it? Then you could just delete the post after you are done right? Wouldn't this confuse some of the cache owners? I'm curious to see how far I've gone. Its prob not that far. Around 1000 or so.
  11. If I can't get a first finders ona virtual I tend to put them off aswell. There is a local cache in my area that is listed on private property. (but it was the cache owners business) I was kinda reluctant to hit it. I wouldn't of gone if I wasn't with another geocacher that really wanted the number. I ran in an ran out as quick as I could. I didn't want to stick around.
  12. I was at a recent webcam cache. The owner had it setup well, but you only had 24 hours to get your pic off of his server before it was deleted. He also warns you of this also. He also has a acctal cache you have to find to get the web address to goto to get the pic. If the cacher can't come up with a pic then I think you have every right to delete his find. Heres the webcam cache I visited: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=37144
  13. When I create a route EasyGPS says it is 1.4 miles. If I'm out in the field with my GPS it says 450 ft. Am I doing something wrong?? Help?!?

  17. I am in need of a good Distance and Bearing Caclulator for a multi-cache I'm placing. I'm trying to have two offset caches. I want it to be hard but not impossible. So if a fellow cacher is out looking for my cache and can't find it he can make a waypoint and send it to me and I'll give him a new distance and bearing from his waypoint which would put him closer to the cache. This is the caclulator I'm currently useing but it doesn't seem to work right. I get a distance of 450ft from part one to part two, the caclulaor gets 200ft. I can't use it because it'll throw off the cacher too much. Please Help!!! E-mail me at Cwlutterloh@yahoo.com
