  1. I had a Merigreen and loved it! I did sell it for the Mericolor. Same unit but Color and a few more features. (I had some money buring a hole in my pocket)
  2. If you're comming from TX, theres a few at rest stops in AR just before you get to Memphis that are at rest stops... One, Two, Three, and Four. Two of them are on the Westbound side though...
  3. You can always use the TN State Map to see all the cache locations on a map and click to see the names...
  4. This one is at a rest stop on I-40. Its an easy 15 min stop and go.
  5. I bought mine at www.selectzone.com for $395. He will match any price you see out there. Also has free shipping. Got it in two days.
  6. Do you have to have some special type of battery charger to charge a lithium?
  7. Yea, The typical GPSr is about 3 to 10 meters accuracy. So if you add up the margin of error between the cacher that placed the cache (10) plus yours (10) you could be looking at upto 20 meters. Usually they are within about 25 feet of what you see as 0ft on your GPSr. The best way to find it is to ask yourself "Where would I hide it" Remember we are trying to keep these caches hidden from Geomuggles but not impossible for us cachers so you might have a little trouble finding it. Keep trying you'll find it. If you still have trouble finding it try the hint if you've been out there several times and still havn't found it you might want to send the cache owner a note he will either give you an additional hint or go out and check the cache to make sure no geomuggle has ransacked the cache. Remember to log your No finds.
  8. I'm 25 and have been caching for about 6-7 months now. I guess spending the money on the GPSr is another thing that might be limiting some people from playing. So far I've already gotten my 2nd GPSr (Magellan Meridian Color)
  9. I've used keychains that are a tiny notebook and used them as my TB SpongeBob GeoPants
  10. When I go into the wood with my Meridian Green and can keep a sat lock without a problem. I've had friends that the min the step under the smallest of folliage their Garmin starts beeping "poor sat covarage" I have upgraded and bought a Meridian Color now and love it Now the uppper end Garmins like GPS V have a great antenna. My cacheing buddy has one and we both get good sat coverage just about anywhere. But I dislike the Etrex, ledgend and the other ones in that series. They all have poor antennas in my opinion. If you notice thats what people are trying to sell the most of when you look at the Garage sale forms.
  11. It finnaly came in yesterday. It looks like you have to have some kinda backlight on (either full or 50%) at all times unless you got alot of sunlight. That might be a battery hog, but other than that I like it! I'm not sure yet on the accurcy yet I havn't had a chance to got and hit a cache with it yet, but I was able to get 3 sat locks while I was still indoors. (I'm pretty sure it has the same anntenna as the old one though Owell) But so far I like it! Woo Hoo!
  12. Yea, if you got Microsoft Mappoint... Mappoint has a GPS feature which allows you to plug your GPSr into the laptop and it'll mark where you are on the map. Its just like your map on your GPSr but alot bigger screen.
  13. quote: Is the screen reflective TFT? I hope not! But like you I can't find any info either. Does anyone know?
  14. Well, I've been in groups out hunting caches. (1 Meridian Green, 1 Sportrack Map, 1 Sportrack Pro, and 1 Garmin GPS V) We start off on the same trial but when we got near the cache location we usually started off in different locations. It also usually varied which one of us found it first too. After we all found it we would compare stats. They didn't vary too much. Sometimes one was more accurate than the others but on the next cache it was oppisite. It all depended on what kinda mood our GPSr was in I guess.
  15. I'm courious about what people think about the New Magellan Meridian Color. I ordered one already but just wondering. Is it acctually worth it... [This message was edited by Cwlutterloh on January 23, 2003 at 02:11 PM.]
  16. I have the Meridian Green. On the Magellan website it says all the Meridian series have Northfinder technology.(tells you which way is north even when standing still) That sounds cool and all but I have no idea how to use it! Anyone got a clue?
  17. I have the Miridgreen too and I have the same problem as Ozarktroutbum after I save a WP and The batteries die before I get to shut it down I loose all the WPs that I previously put in. I've gotten into a habbit of after I set some WPs into the GPSr I give it a reboot. (shut it down and turn it back on) I haven't lost any WPs since.
  18. If you're only going to spend $100 I would take tkalen's offer. If you still want to get a new one yourself and still only want to spend $100 I would recommend a Magellan 315. The Yellow E-trex by Garmin has a poor antnna. I've seen cachers head out into the woods with one and immediately lose sat coverage. From my experence with various GPSrs I havn't seen a Magellan I didn't like, but the high-end Garmin's are really nice too. I dislike the low-end Garmins though.
  19. Thats a nice card you came up with CYBret! I might print up a few to keep with me next time I run into a Geomuggle out in the woods.
  20. I think I've seen this container before Here.(Check out the Pic and read some of the logs on the page) When I went to the location and it was pretty drenched with water. He even had a large rubberbands around it. They look like a good containor but after seeing it in action I don't know. This might not be the same one but it does look like the same one.
  21. Yes I've seen several caches in a Altoids container. They work out great when you put a magnet on them. I've seen them on the underside of a cannon and behind scoreboards and would work great on signs!
  22. This is one of the pages it is stuck on... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=12094 Theres only 2 all together I think??!!??
  23. I started a PTB to track my own miles while I cache. I went back to all the previous caches I've been to and edited my log to drop the bug and pick it back up. This seemed to work great! I now have all my miles recorded! But now the TB is stuck on a few cache pages even though the TB shows "in the hands of the owner" according to the TB web page. How do I get it off the page. I'm sure the owner will get anoided by it adventually. http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=23953
  24. Yea sundance, that sounds like a good alternative to Micros. But where could you get some of those besides at the bottling place?
