  1. Since it is very vague, I suggest the best way to start is to go to each state and search the caches with the most favorite points. Visit like the top 10 caches for each.
  2. A true story!! I just logged this cache find which made your typical lamp post cache at a Home Depot much more interesting today. Made a delivery a few blocks away. Parked the big rig about 100 ft away and then all of a sudden the store security decides to also park between me and GZ and watch the lot. So I walk inside for a little while and came back out. The guard is gone and no muggles around so I head back to GZ. About 150 yards away and now I see a "mature" senior citizen couple pull up in their Lexus SUV and park behind the sheds. Maybe they're taking a look. I decided to continue around the far side of the last shed and make like I'm going to watch the ducks in the pond. As I round the shed, I make a quick glance towards the Lexus and see the wife squatting to pee. I quickly turn back and look towards the pond not even breaking the rhythm of my stride. I heard her say something to her husband and I heard the Lexus maneuver into a new position. After they left, I had a good chuckle and snagged the cache. Boy, Geocaching just gets more interesting every day. Also, the log was soaked so I added a dry piece of paper and signed. Trucking across the country and caching along the way.
  3. When Spring arrives, I'll again strap the bike to the backside of the tractor on my 18-wheeler. It makes it a little easier to get around and go caching while waiting for my next load assignments. With limited parking for big rigs, the bike sure has been a great addition.
  4. In searching for an appropriate cache to claim as our #500th find, we located a 5/5 rated cache in the Ocala National Forest, Florida. This cache was located up a tree that looked to thin for me to climb. However, we keep a bunch of 2' sections of PCV piping with connectors, duct tape, clothes hanger, bungee cords and other gadgets that may come in handy. We nabbed this small cache located 25' up a tree without leaving the ground. So to climb or not, when there's a will there's a way!
  5. There's a few here in Florida also within the Ocala National Forest. This was us a a few weeks ago:
  6. There's one called "DNF" (GCT9NF) down here in Florida. A physical cache rated at 5/1 that has eluded me twice so far. The majority of those who have found it required several attempts.
  7. Thanks for the quick replies!
  8. OK, so I have figured out the meaning for TNLNSL, but what does TFTC stand for?
  9. Thanks for all the suggestions. Since there is about an even split, I guess it is still up to me. So much for "asking the audience". Just kidding. I'm fairly new to this game and have enjoyed it tremendously. It has enhanced our travels and taken us to some really cool places that we otherwise would not have gone to. The most interesting so far has been hiking a lava tube cave.
  10. This morning I went after a cache in the AZ desert. I have a 4x4 vehicle, but the terain was sandy and I almost got stuck twice and decided not to continue. I was still a mile from the destination. Would that be a DNF or should I just post a note?
  11. Hello again. Well we tried our second attempt at this cache and another one just a few miles away. Still without success. That gives us 1 found and 2 not. Is it ok to send an email to the creator of the cache and perhaps the last person who found it asking for a few more clues until I get the hang of this?
  12. Hello to all. I've heard about this for about a year now and even looked up a few caches in the past but never went searching for them. Now we are full-time RV'ers and our driving around the country. FINALLY, my 8 year old son and I went on our first hunt last week. It was in Davis Mountain State Park, TX. We did not find it the first day because we were running out of daylight. The next day we continued our search and were successful. Today we went out again on our second hunt in Sante Fe, NM. No luck this time either. I came back and read the previous finders posts and now have a better idea. We'll be going back again tomorrow. Wish us luck!
