  1. The scoring indicates Difficulty and Terrain as x2 Does anyone know what this means?
  2. I posted this under the iOS app topic but it appears as if it is an API error. When I delete PQs and the related files ready for download they still appear in the Geocaching App, GSAK and the Cachly app until the standard 7 days is past. Obviously not a website issue as they are gone on both tabs of the website so it can only be an issue with the information that is being supplied by the API. After a bit of discussion with some caching friends I find that this is not a issue for people in the US but I my friends in South AFrica (where I reside) have the same problem. Seems starange that it might be regional based unless there are mirror servers used for different regions where a deletion is not being replicated. I cannot think of any other reason. I have asked a limited number of people to see ifthey have the same problem so my regional theory could be incorrect.
  3. No. The query and file on the pocket query ready for download range have been deleted. Still appear on the app. Interesting that a cacher in South Africa, where I live has the same result but my caching friends in the US don't. Is there a mirror server? I can supply screen shots. It appears to be an API issue as I have the same result on another Geocaching app
  4. Why do Pocket Queries that have been deleted on the website still appear on the app until the 7 days have expired? This appears to be issue only for some users.
  5. Just a note on cache density. I believe Port Elizabeth now has the greatest cache density for all the areas that stats were given for
  6. I cannot believe that my screen must have large pictures and fonts to cater for a small minroty who can (and probably have) zoomed in. All that needs to be done is make sure, when zoomed, the screen presentation is still readable.
  7. Well said. Different strokes for different folks. Most challenge caches in our area are really traditional with and easy requirement to meet. Nothing wrong with that. Some of the arguments above are about bad caches, not really about challenge caches. You can find a traditional that is a soggy piece of paper in a nano. My only gripe is that high D rating challenges are effectively banned.
  8. From what I have seen I will be opting out until it is fixed. Font size is too large. I reduced the size in my browser to 70% and then it was better. That huge profile avatar on my profile page takes up so much room you have to scroll down every time too see anything useful I am still seeing friends logs despite turning it off in the settings. I see they ave dumped the display of DNFs. Probably to protect those sensitive petals amongst us Recently viewed and recent logs takes ages to download
  9. The rating on the challenge checker link is calculated by running the checker against the finds of every registered cacher. It cannot be relied upon. For example a challenge that requires you to find 5 caches in a specific county will have a higher difficulty rating on the checker link that one that requires you to find 5000 caches. This is because there are more cachers that have found 5 000 caches anywhere in the world that have found 5 caches in that small unknown county. That being said it is still an indication that can be taken into account.
  10. Deleted - post was incorrect. I cannot even count
  11. Cool stats. Hopefully the article in the GoSA newsletter is a regular column. Thanks Danie.
  12. Nope, AFAIK, no iteration of the official apps has ever given the option to specify the date. Personally, I feel this would be a no-brainer (at least as a quick-win workaround until proper time zone support is implemented) and possibly very simple to implement (the API call already accepts a date/time, so you just have to add the date picker), but I'm not in charge of app development. Can't be too difficult. The Geosphere app has been around for ages and it logs the correct date
  13. I would like to add my voice to the request for country souvenirs to be moved up the priority list. It does not seem fair that there are souvenirs for states of some countries but others are missed out. Simple country flags for the smaller countries would suffice. Similar to the country badges in BadgeGen. The system issues should also be easy to resolve.
  14. What I find interesting is that when I sort my found caches in order of favourite points then the ones with the most FPs are mostly Virtuals. Pokemon Go has had an explosive growth based on virtuals only. Could the introduction of virtuals genereate new interest in geocaching?
  15. Since the downtime for the upgrade lab caches are not working. Going to the links results in an error " 500 - Something is wrong here. {"Message":"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."}
  16. Is it possible to report a cache that is in the incorrect state? Although it is close to the state border there are caches closer to the border that are correctly placed. GC5PM02 Church Micro 7536...Wansford - Methodist shows that it is in UK, East Midlands. It should be in Eastern England. GC3C8YR Red Phone Box 2 Wansford the other one is closer to the state border and is correctly shown as Eastern England Is this due to incorrect polygons? Both show in Cambridgeshire as the county.
  17. South Africa State = Province/Provinces County = District/Districts The districts are either District Municipalities or Metropolitan Municipalities. Why they decided to call them districts and not municipalities I am not sure.
  18. Thanks for the help. Looks like a manual exercise. Just for info there is no longer an issue with the corrected coordinates changing back on update. All good now.
  19. A very old topic but I still see the need for this. I have solved a large number of puzzles and have the corrected coordinates on a spreadsheet. I have uploaded the corrected coordinates to GSAK using a Macro and also uploaded to the geocaching website as a User Note using a macro. What I need is to be able to add the corrected coordinates to the individual cache pages in geocaching.com The reason for this is that I use the official geocaching app on an iPhone. If you correct the coordinates on the geocaching.com website the the corrected coordinates are shown as a flag in the app for you to navigate to.
  20. There us an age limit. http://www.geocaching.com/about/termsofuse.aspx
  21. So far there has been no problem with people using the iOS and Android app. Just one user with an old Nokia with a symbian OS. Interesting that user had no problem with another cartridge that is almost identical in setup. Maybe I should meet him on location and see what his issue is.
  22. On reading the forum I think the issue could be that I am using the OnEnter - rather than Proximity. Looks like that is the issue.
