  1. Well it took me awhile but got it. Thanks.
  2. How do I load Longitude and Latitude into my GarminmapGPSsc. Lets say i down load a puzzle cache how do i follow to next destination? I did some searches.
  3. I have a Garmin GPSmap62sc. I am on a MAC I just go to geocaching website click on a cache and send it to my GPS. All info, logs, description hint are all there, wala!! My smaller magellen did the same thing. Maybe I don't understand the question, if so. Sorry.
  4. Love the quote. I am some what of a NuB. I use GarminGPSmapsc How would I log coordinates like those above into my GPS.Right now I download and go. But if I wanted to go to specific place like a puzzle cache where just numbers are left for me??? Thank you
  5. Hmmmm....I'd say that a smidge over a "little": N42 07.189 W071 02.819 299 ft N42 07.233 W071 02.849
  6. I agree. I have been away from Geo caching for a year. Responded to a fellow that thought Geo caching wasn't "Rocket Science". He called me an A** Hole in an email. I did report him don't know what will come of it. I hope he is banned.I just turned a friend on to Caching an experience like that may shy him away from a fun way to get exercise
  7. Thanks for the advice, I took it and downloaded a free topo.
  8. Do I need maps if i am just geocaching??
  9. I am a NUB as well, 35 or so finds. Your correct it is not Rocket Science. Actually the only thing that IS Rocket Science IS Rocket Science. I have found the people involved in caching and on this site always respectful and more then willing to help you out. Your the only guy I have seen that called some ones reply stupid. Maybe playing Basketball a more appropriate past time for you.
  10. That's a stupid reply. It really isn't that stupid a reply. The guidelines even include similar statements: "The more geocaches that you have found, the better you will understand the various elements that make up a great geocaching experience. This knowledge will be invaluable when you place a hide, and likely make your geocache more enjoyable for the community. We encourage you to find at least twenty geocaches before you choose to hide one." You can quibble over whether 20 finds or 50 finds is a better benchmark, but both are better than the 4 you've logged so far. Personally, I don't think any specific number of finds is going to be right for everyone. But I do think it is important that you find enough that you know what kinds of containers work well, what kinds of containers don't work well, what kinds of caches you enjoy, and what kinds of caches you want to own and maintain for the long term. 4 was more than enough to figure out what type of cache we wanted to place. Thanks. This isn't rocket science. 20 to 50? come on. A "great" experience for our family are ones that are found from helpful hints. Maybe that's different for others. All I was asking was a simple question about GPS formats. Thanks.
  11. Thank you ALL for taking the time and the info.As I mentioned I am using...GarminGPSmapsc this GPS. Should I just assume that if it gets me within lets say 10' I should start using my EYES, along with the hints and Logs.
  12. I like using the compass But if you say "Basalt" doesn't interfere with a compass...well, I will hang tight here for a few more thoughts. Thanks
  13. I did do some searches to no avail. Live in Spokane lotsa Basalt around. GarminGPSmapsc (not "real" familiar with it). When using my compass to search is this rock messing me up??? Thanks
  14. My GarminGPS62sc is very nice and pretty easy to use. I believe its about $444 on amazon. I spent a long time reading reviews its "dizzying" settled on that one. Look at youtube for reviews. Thank your husband for his service from me as well his family.
