  2. Been using the " Add to GPS" feature as a premium member for years, plug in your GPS, click on the button and voila... now it doesn't work, despite updating the Garmin plug in... it says it was successful but still can't recognize my device. ,, what gives?? People have suggested work arounds but why did it stop working in the first place??
  3. I am having more issues than ever and thought I would check in with the forums to see if there is any progress on the issue, doesn't look promising. I haven't had the " browser is not supported"message for a couple of month. ( now I have jinked it) Using Safari on MacBook but the whole platform seems unstable. Ie when sending a message for an earth cache owner it used to say" Regarding GC &^^% BLAHBLAH Earthcache" now that doesn't come up any more when I click on message this owner from the cache page. Just tried it now and it did.. very unpredictable. also sometimes the To Username is blank and sometimes is correct. another issue is when I upload a photo to the message, then it covers up the Submit button , so I can't send the message. arrggh... enough time wasted, going back to emails Please fix this feature or get rid of it altogether if you can't .
  4. Well glad it is not just me have messaging errors.. extra annoying after writing a long earth cache answer. ;( On Mac OS 10
  5. Well I learn something everyday,, never heard of that app. will have to try it out.
  6. Assuming you are coming by ferry, yes a generous hour to Duncan and then another 25 mins to Cowichan River Prov park. May I suggest you consider camping at Bamberton Provincial Park. Bamberton Provincial Park It is just off the #1 highway as you come down off the Malahat. It is a bit further from the actual Mega site but closer to all the satellite events and more caches, though there are lots of nice ones out that way too. Bamberton is a much easier drive to and from everything, esp if you like a clean car. I see that they turn off their water early but they still have pit toilets which is all the Cowichan River campground has anyway. You can always check it out on your way by when you arrive as you will be driving right past it. Sorry can't offer to go caching with you on Friday as I am busy helping with the Registration event. Hope to see you there. Happy Caching.
  7. "I just feel the need to express my lack of enthusiasm for the changes. While I like the clarity of the maps and the cute little icons, not having them identified on the map unless you scroll over them, leaves you clueless when you print them out. It would be so heplful to hae the menu back sot hat you could link icon to cache name, even manually. In addition, once you open the list of caches from the right menu (List all Caches), you may no longer go back to the map and pull it to visit another area. You have to close down and return to the list and re-open the map. This makes the system so very unwieldy. If those feature could be fixed, that would be a step in the right direction. One doesn't really need all the high tech stuff to geocache, but technology is supposed to help mankind, not frustrate us. " -ditto to the above , I open a cache detail and lose the map, not that i could see where the cache was anyway. sometimes the icons just stay on the top left corner, seems you have to know where they are first??? you check a cache listing close it and want to look further ,now the map doesn't pan!! arrrgggghhh.. and you have to start over.....-some of us have to be on slow computers, so now it is agonizing!!! Geocaching is my favorite hobby, but you have taken the joy out of the research!! IF it wasn't broken why did you fix it, I am sooooo dissappointed in this "upgrade" I don't even want to look at it. Please please go back to the old maps, I found them workable and useful and fun!
  8. I was just thinking about this topic the other day, I have unreliable knees and have had various falls etc over the years before geocaching, # ankle, torn ligaments, cracked tail bone , and ruptured achilles, all while enjoying the great outdoors. So now I take up this activity and find myself in places I shouldn't be with shoes I shouldn't be wearing, or bare legs through the brambles and nettles. So far the only caching ouches I have recieved are a bruised and scraped ankle, sliding off the side of a log and 3 wasp bites in 5 minutes last week while checking up on my own cache The geopups were along and thought my dancing and yelling was an invite to play, silly dogs, luckily they did not get bitten. The swelling and itching is almost gone Today I have to pick up my wedding ring that had to get cut off cause of the swelling and tomorrow go the eye Dr to get a new pair of glasses, that I dropped and then walked on coming home from a cache while camping on the weekend. It's getting to be an expensive hobby Dira duck Someday I hope to be the person my dogs already think I am
