  1. Did both of these in Jan. Tony is a great guy to visit with, and being a long time expat, he can give you all kinds of cool suggestions and local secrets in Coz. Have an ice cold Sol while you hang out with him. The ruins are also spectacular! Can be VERY hot this time of year, so take lots of water. There's also this one that is right off the pier in Coz. Didn't eat there, but I really regret it. The food looked awesome, and it's a very nice, romantic little spot in quick walking distance. Don't forget to drop some pesos in the little box in the banos to help support the Cozumel Humane Society. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ac-11d6d203b77d Personally, I'm a HUGE fan of Playa del Carmen (anyone know how an American nurse can practice in Mexico?), and was pretty much too distracted to cache much there. Did get the virt at the pier, and hope to get the rest of the Playa caches when I head back in September. Maybe someday, when I get to move there, I'll have my own cache.
  2. That's a real bummer you only got one set :-( I have no idea what happened and I haven't had any issues with the pre-orders I've done w/C&P in the past (for other coins). Did you ask C&P if they plan on ordering a few more? Glad you like them :-) Heard back from C&P...they were very nice and apologized. They also said there would be some more, and they would let me know! YAY!
  3. I got a set this weekend, and they are beautiful! Problem is, I had preordered two sets, but received an email that there had been a miscount, and I would only get one set. I did get a prompt refund from Coins and Pins, so that's not a problem. I'm just bummed because one set was for me, and one was a gift for my sister (who was big into Misty too!). This is the first time I've done a preorder. Is there anyway I can get a couple more without it taking a lot of time and effort? And is it normal to not be able to get a full order (4 coins) when one does a preorder? All that aside...they are simply beautiful!
  4. LOL! Same here! I ordered some for myself and my sister...can't wait to see them!
  5. I'm totally neutral in this sticky situation...... but BRAVA!!!! (at least for good writing )
  6. Figured she was pretty sick when she couldn't make the event Saturday. Hope you get to feeling better soon, love! Team Woot all send their best!
  7. My son placed one in my Mom's yard, right by the curb (so folks don't have to go traipsing through her yard). It was his way of including her in something he loved, and sharing her with his caching friends. She has absolutely loved it, and there have been some great logs too! She doesn't spy, but she'll often be working in the yard and has bumped into a few. A woman and her little boys got to play with Mom's dogs, and another couple scored some Christmas cookies when Mom baked too many (they even came back the next day to ask for the recipe!). She had one guy come up to her while she was in the side yard (she hadn't noticed him at the cache) and help her roll up a hose that she was struggling with. When she logs on in the morning, the first thing she checks is to see if anyone found it. We do remind her that some folks just aren't comfortable with yard caches, and she understands. But everyone seems to really enjoy "her" cache, and I know it makes her day.
  8. OMG! My sister and I grew up in Texas, and adored all the Margurite Henry books...but especially Misty! We had ponies and we spent pretty much our entire childhoods with our ponies down by the lake, pretending to be shipwrecked on Assateague! LOL! My old copy of "Misty" is so broken down from the millions of times that I read it, that I have it in a protector and can't open it any longer. Thought about getting it rebound...but just looking at how worn it is reminds my of a perfect childhood. So, being an awesome big sister, I enjoy finding gifts for my little sis that make her cry (happy cry!). These coins are so beautiful, and will blow us both away! I'm signed up on the site and this will be my first preorder when they hit! Can't wait!
  9. So, we all gave and got some of the usual stuff...I got a beautiful Canadian geocoin (and another one to keep, so I can release the first one!) and some pathtags and SWAG. Gave the boys the new TXGA geocoins, and we all got some very nice natural walking sticks. Sis and BIL (aceofspays) finally got their own GPSr (eTrex Legend). But the funnest gift was from aceofspays for me, epochtexas and nycdancerboi. Ace handed us an envelope, containing what looked very similar to a GC page with coords. We grabbed the GPSr and ran outside and plugged them in. Oh, it's right here! So we look (dancerboi quickly "Woot-ed", we had to look for a while longer, much to everyone's amusement!), and finally spot a keyholder on my carport. Inside was a clue about CITO. So we head to the backyard (by the trashcans), and spot a big black bag. Inside is a huge box, wrapped in paper with a giant GC logo that aceofspays handpainted on it (incredible job!). Inside the box was enough container making stuff, lock-n-locks of all sizes, cammo paint and tape, etc...to keep us busy for months. It was a blast! And even though they are sorta new to GCing, they put so much effort into this gift and had as much fun as we did...personally, I think we've got 'em hooked. We all then had breakfast, a few Bloody Marys (except dancerboi!), and went and found a few caches. One was a cahce that we had a few DNFs on...finally got it. Aceofspays found the cahce that I placed near where they got married, in their honour, and a few tricky ones in the neighborhood. All in all, a spectacular day. I am indeed a lucky woman to be surrounded by such a great family. Life is good.
  10. Yeah, but it's hard to keep them lit. What would I do if I found a little farm? Probably mark a waypoint, then eventually make my way home to log the cache with a FTF (Forgot to Find). (PSA...Kids, don't do drugs...)
  11. Crud...just saw this.. Would have been happy to pick you up. I'm 10 minutes from the airport, and Grapevine Mills is my 'hood. Maybe next time.
  12. LOL! Very nice, fervent... (RIP Reggie Dunlop )
  13. I seriously doubt whoever did that would log online. Hmm, 16.3 miles from their home coords, eh? If people can figure out where caches are before they're published from TB drops, I'm sure they could... Never mind, just kidding. Unless logging that it was a waste of time.... I'm so sorry sweetie. Albert Einstein once said "There are two things that are infinite...human stupidity and the universe...and I'm not even sure about the second." Focus on the Corpus Christi cacher...that's the vast majority of cachers.
  14. It's funny that this thread was started, after an incident I had last week. Recently, I was thrilled to find a good source of different hockey team stickers that had been marked way down. Normally, these packs would cost between $3-$7. Since I'm a hockey fan, I thought it would be a cool, kinda signature item to leave in caches. Bought all the decals the store had. Now, I know that not everyone likes the sport, but I figured that some folks would be thrilled to find them. I know I would be. But last week, I get an email from another cacher (not the owner), chewing me out for leaving trash. I don't even know if I took anything, because I had left them in several caches that weekend. Of the things we did trade for, one was a little highlighter, a postcard, etc...nothing high dollar. I dunno, maybe they didn't like the team or something. But to say I was leaving trash, when it was something that some people might find cool seemed awfully harsh. Between that, once being gently called out on the log for accidently splitting a prize, and a virtual owner who won't verify mine and the Kiddo's find...it's kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. This is all in just 9 finds. (10, if you count the virt.) I guess my point is, what may be junk to some may be cool to others, especially if you're dealing with kids (or hockey freaks, apparently!). I would think that if you're worried about "cheap" finders plundering your high dollar cache, then maybe make it a tough find, so someone has to work at it...and keep kids to a minimum. Not everyone is carrying a $30 gadget to trade...and that little troll doll may be the greatest thing in the world to the person who left it. Sorry, just had to vent. It's been eating at me for a week now. I think I'll keep my GPS off for a while, and try to figure out what I'm doing wrong. edited to add~ FYI..the person that emailed me did not log any finds on my finds. Don't know if they just didn't log it, or made their judgement from my logs. Either way, I have no idea who it was or which cache they were referring to. ********************** Geocaching by day...hockey at night! Life is good
  15. I've got two that are orbiting the moon, and have gone around the Earth about a dozen times. Oops, one just burned up... Is that what they're supposed to do? ********************** Geocaching by day...hockey at night! Life is good

  17. Gads! Were you spying on me today? Me and the Kiddo go traipsing off into the creek in a public park, until it gets way too deep to go any further. Obviously, we were in the wrong place...so I came home and checked the online map. I wasn't even in the right part of the park! (I really suck at this sport! LOL!) quote:If they take the super hard way, that'll teach 'em to use the online maps a little better next time. Ummm...doubtful. ********************** Geocaching by day...hockey at night! 22. quote:I'm assuming you mean an ET or endotracheal tube. Do you also carry some means of ventilating through it? How 'bout the laryngoscope blade? Stethoscope for auscultating lung sounds to confirm placement? Seems like a lot of excess *stuff* for something that you'd seldom use on a backcountry trip let alone a short stroll in the woods to find a cache. I was curious about that myself. But then again, I'm the one who used to carry (in my car) not only a fully stocked jump kit (Yeah, with IV stuff too!), but I had IV hooks hung on my trunk lid, just waiting for the day I drove up on the Big One! I'm burned out now. When I go caching or camping, I have a few old bandaids thrown in a baggie with a couple of Benadryl and Immodium. I'm so bad that the last time we went caching, my kid got a little cut on his arm from a nasty mesquite. I wiped it clean with an old fast food napkin I found in the floorboard. I carry spare batteries for the GPS (since I get very lost very quickly!) and a Leatherman. The kid has his Yoda stick, and since he claims he's a Jedi Knight, he says we don't need anything else. (But you reminded me that I should probably have some tape. What the Force can't fix, a roll of 2" can! ) ********************** Geocaching by day...hockey at night! Life is good

  24. It probably won't be the last, either. But like the first ding on a new car, this one bites! I was just looking at some new web logs of the first caches I found. (Yes, I get a charge when I see that someone has taken what I left! LOL!) I read a log from my second find, and apparently I inadvertantly split up a prize! I didn't know there were more parts to it! I still have no idea what the other parts might have even looked like. I feel like such a schmuck. Oh well, rookie mistake #1 is now out of the way. I'll be heading back out there this weekend to put something cool in it. Anyway, just had to vent and confess my sins. (MY Catholic grandmother would be soooo impressed! ) ********************** Geocaching by day...hockey at night! Life is good
